    Tommy Aint Afraid to Run

Odd though that Brands is willing to build a rocket ship to travel to other galaxies to find better competition but when he crosses the border to Illinois he gets scared for his wrestlers and has to implement an alternate plan. :(

    Tommy Aint Afraid to Run

One thing about Tommy gents is he aint afraid to run he aint gonna throw Lee and Young out there on account hes afraid theys gonna get beat just ask him gents its a coaches decision he said he did the right thing now the gratest coach of the worlds oldest and gratest sport never did protect a seed nor keep a guy on the sidelines no he coached them up and they went out there and took on all comers but Tommys no Gable and that aint no lie. Gents the Voice of Wrestling was there in full war colors and listening to my fellow Hawkaholics they was disgruntled drove all that way and watched a miserable series of matches and such but most of thems drinking Tommies Kool Aid and content to finish 4th so leave that to them that wants it sure 4th is 4th but thats what you got hombres you want the thrills and chills of being in the team race choose another team hombres.

    PSU Bubble Bursting?

I figured it was hyperbole and I don't take offense to it. Devin Schnupp won't qualify for the NCAA tournament and he doesn't win a lot of matches at 125lbs at PSU but there is a pretty huge difference between high school and college. Devin was a pretty successful high school wrestler and anyone who steps on the mat for PSU likely has a pretty impressive high school resume, even if they are typically nothing more than a room guy. The same goes for every major D1 program. You have to have a certain pedigree to even be in the room at schools like PSU, Iowa, tOSU, OSU, Minnesota, etc. My apologies if I left any program off the list here. I like to give the guys like Devin a little credit (and there are guys like Devin on every team) because they go out there and give 100% despite knowing the chips are not stacked in their favor.

Will Brands let Lee wrestle Picc?

Bigger question, will Brands duck the entire dual meet? Its the last dual of the season for both. It doesn't help Brands and Iowa for seeding at b10. They have to travel to Stillwater for the dual. It doesn't fit in the plan, so why would they show up?

He still refuses to return the home dual favor Sanderson gave him several years back. At this point Brands has more levels of Orange than Tropicana.

Just base NCAA seeds on finishes at certain tournaments. If an injury forces you out of a tournament, too bad. (The NCAA tournament itself does not account for untimely injuries.)

Flo big match promotion - question

How can you possibly blame Flo? They are making people aware of their content and are in-house ready to broadcast. This is the T&T sideshow that they have brought to Iowa - this week. Other coaches do the same (Tom Ryan, et al). Smith and Cael seem to hold up pretty well this far. We should still build up these exciting matches and if the coaches pull their guys, we will be disappointed.

That's a fair assessment. Spencer is my pick to win 125lbs this year as well. I think he rolls the field the same way he did last year in March.

Harder to overcome two losses if he did beat Rivera at BigTens. Now with only one loss, he would be seeded ahead at NCAAs. That why this was done. Aside from that, Young sat out after wrestling Friday simply to avoid another loss that would lower his winning percentage, a factor in seeding. Iowa fans can rationalize all they want but when you cherry pick the schedule and only have your guys wrestle those they can beat, that's ducking, period, end of discussion. Brands has now done this with multiple wrestlers, multiple times. It's becoming systematic and other coaches are not doing this to anywhere near the degree Iowa is.As far as Lee's health, I'm sure the only way many Iowa fans will say he is back to 100% is IF he beat Rivera and wins an NCAA Championship. It's obvious there is no way they will admit this prior to the matchup and risk a loss with no excuse. Heck, he just destroyed the #12 wrestler in the country on Friday, yet he incapable of going on Sunday against Rivera, please!

Even though I hated that the match didnt happen, I think it was the best move Brands could have made for Spencer. Spencer will likely see Rivera 2 more times this year. If you lose the match on Friday night, I think Rivera will be in his head for the rest of the season. Not an Iowa fan here btw.

True! I could totally be wrong. It just seems like the top guys all finish very quickly, and if you scramble too much you get exposed. DT is also an exception to this I guess, so what do I know.

    Cael's Complete Match Record

The thing to note when looking at his college results is that there are several matches that weren't allowed to count back then that ARE allowed to count today. So by today's rules, I think it would be 165-0.

    RTC's - Wild, Wild West

It benefits both and was intended to benefit both. The RTC’s were specifically designed to connect (in a variety of ways) wrestling after college with college campuses. And in doing so raising the level of wrestling at both the college and senior levels. I don’t think anyone can argue that is the current state of both levels. The big dogs with the big resources battle it out for the big prize, and the rest learn good skills, earn an education, and craft a trade for life if they so choose. Sometimes some athletes from the “have nots” make it to the big time. How is this different from any other NCAA sport? RTC’s are good for wrestling in this country, overall. Both at the college level and senior level. It doesn’t mean everyone is going to have a better chance to win it all at NCAA’s, but that scenario carries across pretty much every thing in life....

Flo big match promotion - question

Disagree. People get more excited about individual matchups. Nobody thought Northwestern would beat Iowa. People wanted 125 and 157 to happen. It also helps our wrestlers build their brand and make more money post college if they wrestle, coach or go into mma.

They'd have to hire another 2-3 content people just to keep up with the swath of horrible comments that would be posted. There's also a trend of websites going away from comments sections because, quite frankly, people don't have the mental capacity to post with a level of maturity. Just look at the comments on their instagram, it's overrun with the worst this sport has. If I were them, no way would I bring back the comments section. Their social media is already a headache to try to keep up with.

    Meaningless dual meet season?

Because in basketball you have team seeds, in wrestling you have individual seeds. You can't skip a game in basketball and have it not affect your seeding against a tough opponent. Duals are more and more missing the best or second best matchup on a consistent basis, that takes the enjoyment out of it as a fanbase, which by and large already struggles with attendance outside of the top 10.
