    The Piccininni

I was watching a show called Food Paradise on the Travel Channel. On the this episode they showed a deli in NY that had a huge hero sandwich called The "Piccininni". They said it was named after a local state wrestling champ. They didn't mention Nick, but still pretty cool.

    Tweeners

Per a previous thread, super curious what folks are thinking about our tweeners and here are my thoughts(sticking to those who were at the WTT this year-exception of Garrett, Suriano). Some I am unfamiliar with so based purely off size comparisons. 61) 57-Nico, Fausz, Clark, Graff, Mack, Palmer, Colon, Garrett, Suriano 65-NONE(Whitford?) 70) 65-Mason, Chamberlain, Ashnault 74-Green, Kulchytskyy, Sorensen, Pantaleo, Hidlay, Deakin 79) 74-Dake, Finesilver, Hall 86-Valencia, Ringer, Morelli, Becker, Davis, Harvey 92) 86-Boykin, Macchiavello, Dudley, McCall 97-Cox, Nickal, Zillmer, Moore, Lefever

Average size, my man. The worst thing as far as skill goes that might be average was his bottom game. Everything else was above average at worst and his pace/conditioning made some of them elite. Strength would be a huge factor at 141 for him and I don't think he'd do well at 141 due to this.

Here's an article on the subject in general that might be of interest. https://journals.lww.com/acsm-csmr/FullText/2017/09000/Replacement_of_Doped_Olympic_Medalists.7.aspx It's not always easy to move people up into the medals since non-medalists are not always subject to the same doping policies.

This knee, healthy or not, will be a huge issue if YD gets his fair shot at being the rep.

C'mon man. If you're going the MMA route, you've seen plenty of fights before and plenty of scary KOs. It's nothing new nor is it something to dissuade someone who's already interested.

    Any Reporting Zain’s Knee?

I understand your point of view I just don't agree. Maybe that frees me of my shame, maybe not. But what I'm reading is that you feel the priorities in this should be: your opinion there are several athletes who would beat a less than 100% Zain, and your desire to know his recovery....over Zain's priorities of recovering the best he can to compete in the tournament he earned the right to compete in (to this point). If Zain is 65% and for him that is good enough to go, and the Doctor clears him to go.....he should go. No other priority outweighs that in my opinion. And us wrestling fans' desire to know what his status is in no way shape or form going to effect his recovery, and as much as we'd like to know, its none of our business. We are not entitled to or obligated to know. In your last sentence.....which side should carry more weight? Your desire to see other healthy wrestlers competing, or the guy who earned the spot desires to compete, even if injured?

    Yianni/Zain Ruling

Or arbitration scoffs the Cornell lawyers off. Zain goes and gets hurt facing Bajrang in the semis giving him his toughest match. Zain wrestles valiantly, but physically broken in his bronze match and fails to medal. Zain loses to Pico in the semis at OTT. YD loses to Metcalf in the semis at OTT. Pico and Metcalf wrestle for the right to represent USA at the Olys. YD loses to Eirman on the backside consis and Zain loses to GHulk. Eirman is on the team by beating GHulk in the best match of the OTT for 3rd. Zain then beats YD for 5th in the same exact sort of match with a call overturned in the final 10 seconds this time. Apologies for slaughtering Eirman's name. Too lazy to look it up atm.

I'm all for a step-out rule in college wrestling. It's right in the spirit of folkstyle's "control" philosophy, too. You are rewarded by controlling the center of the mat and controlling your opponent by forcing them out. Instituting criteria though would be a big mistake. Criteria can confuse even experienced fans and the wrestlers themselves (e.g., J'Den Cox during the Olympics), plus it looks horrible to see someone's arm raised when the score is like, 4-4. Fans prefer clear-cut, outright winners.

Cox deserves a nickname (and a shoe)

Weird that you even posted that. Just a bit more on Cox, didn't realize until watching the matches the other day that he is only one year older than Bo at 24. As great as we think/know Bo is J'Den has already won an Olympic bronze, world bronze and a world gold going for number 2. He very well may be our most underrated guy ever.
