    Cox in 86 Kg?

There is a much bigger benefit if you qualify the weight in WFS and greco as whoever qualifies the weight gets a bye to the finals of the OTT. Thus the established and published selection criteria.

I dont mean to say that you're closed minded if you want to express your patriotism by feeling like you'd only want to represent the US. I mean I believe it's closed minded to think someone is a less patriotic citizen if they compete while representing a nation of their blood roots. I think both stances can come from equally patriotic people.

One of the things I always thought Flo got right were the colors and branding of it. The new colors/logo/branding is terrible.

This should be the procedure and for greco it is. Below are the procedures for selecting the rep for the Pan Am qualifier for greco and women's freestyle. Men's freestyle has not been released yet. If they go with the greco procedures it's Downey's spot. If they go with the women's freestyle procedure Gilman, Colon, Green, Burroughs, Dake, Taylor, Cox, Snyder and Gwiz have the right to challenge for the spot. Greco 1. 2019 Greco-Roman World Team member returning to the same Olympic weight. 2. December 2019 Greco-Roman Olympic Trials Qualifier a. Top two place finishers (1st & 2nd – Olympic weights) will establish the #2 and #3 rank order 3. If the team can NOT be filled with the 2019 National Team in rank order, selections will be made by the Greco-Roman National Teams coaching staff. a. The selections will be made based off results during Fall 2019 & Winter 2020 competitions. b. Competitive readiness will also be taken into consideration. Women's Freestyle 1. The 2019 Senior World Team Member (Olympic weights) will be the U.S. representative; however, 2. A senior world medalist, at any weight, within this quad (2017-2019) will be given the opportunity to challenge the 2019 Senior World Team Member for the spot. a. If there is more than one challenger in a weight, there will be a single elimination tournament to determine who will challenge the 2019 World Team Member. b. There will be a best of three series between the 2019 Senior World Team Member and the challenger to determine who will earn the spot. 3. If a 2019 Senior World Team Member, from an Olympic weight, vacates the weight; there will be a best of three series between the #2 and #3 National Team members at that weight to determine the spot. *A 2019 Senior World Team Member (Olympic Weights) that chooses not to participate in the event, without a certified medical reason, will automatically lose that month's National Team stipend.

No NWCA All-Star Classic in 2019

This is a great idea! They could even make some matches freestyle. I know that’s weird given who the org is, but who cares! It would’ve been fun, plus maybe they could’ve gotten some of the National team women to compete. I bet you Yianni and Eierman would’ve said yes. I don’t think any world teamers would do it just due to timing after worlds, but Yianni and Eierman probably want the extra roll anyways. This might also be a great chance to showcase “freakshow” matches. Some BJJ guys have called out wrestlers to compete with them in wrestling. It has been respectful, but it would also be a great way to showcase wrestling to he BJJ fan base. It could only help build the sport. Honestly Flo should put a show like this on...

I don’t get why everyone is making such a big deal about a new logo? Who cares. It’s just a logo. Is it really any worse or better than the old one? Doesn’t make a difference to me as long as I can watch wrestling. If they would have started with this logo, I bet the same people would be complaining if they switched to the green one. It doesn’t make sense to me to change everything after so long but I’m not a marketing expert. That said, if they are going to spend money, I really wish they would’ve put it into better technology so they don’t have anymore streaming issues

Gross? I think it's great and if you (every one of you) had the opportunity to represent another country and compete in the Olympics, you would. If you say you wouldn't, your're lying. Sean Bormet is all class and the way he supports his athletes is fantastic!

logo change is whatever, but color scheme blows. it's like child color book red. dull disgusting hue. not very sharp, bad move. and they probably paid someone 100's of thousands for that children coloring book move.

I dont normally, no. A little criticism here and there is not bad. However, if I go into the only restaurant in town with someone, and they critique the menu, the food, the seating, the waitstaff, the pricing and any other little thing they can think of, I definitely would. If the restaurant is that terrible and you have every single answer, why wouldnt you try to compete? Yes, Flo has market share, but if there are that many holes in their service as some would have you believe, there should still be plenty of opportunity.

    New Flo Color Scheme

I basically said this in the other thread, but the issue isn’t necessarily people being capable of developing something better than Flo (although I’m certainly not), it’s the fact that Flo is already so dominant in the marketplace. They’re not particularly great, but they were first, and overcoming their market share in a niche market at this point will be extremely difficult if you don’t already have loads of cash. But I don’t really undertand this argument anyway. Do you tell people who complain about restaurants to go open one? Just because someone thinks something can be done better, doesn’t mean they should be the ones to do it.

    1999 NCAA All-Americans

I was there, 4 rows up center mat (had a great family connection for tix). It was evident that Cael was something special. Best match of the tourney was Abas vs. Teague Moore in the semi's. 20 years later, and I can say that current NCAA wrestling is in a much better place. Some of those 1999 finals matches were snooze fests.

    Cox in 86 Kg?

In 2012 they used the two in the finals of the WTT the year before (2011). This year it's a little trickier because maybe the top two guys (Taylor and Cox and possibly 3-6 either Dake, Dieringer, Valencia, Bo Nickal) weren't in that bracket. I think the obvious choice for the Pan Am qualifier is Downey and I think Downey could qualify the weight. Only the Cuban really worries me and Downey could win that or be on the opposite side of the bracket and qualify the weight since the top 2 qualify. He was 3rd at the Pan Am games losing only to the Cuban. The obvious choice for the Word Qualifier is the winner of the Trials. The point is that if you exempt two guys from the trials to try and qualify the weight then you run the risk of not sending the best guy out there to qualify the weight at any tournament which is what happened at 60kg in 2012 even though the weight ultimately was qualified. It also raises the questions of who do you send to the second one? Cox seems like the choice to have skip the trials to prepare for it, since he has earned a bye anyway and giving Downey a pass already kind of screws up the returning medalist advantage, but do you know how he will handle the weight cut? If we send Taylor there may be questions about his health. Ultimately maybe Ringer is the best guy and wins the trials only to watch some combination of Downey, Cox, and Taylor blow qualification. Sending the US Open winner is not an option. There is no 2020 US Open. If you are talking about the winner of the 2019 US Open that was Pat Downey.

    Haji Aliyev at 65kg

The Olympic weight of 66/65 has virtually been a pick 'em. Only three guys have won more than one gold since they went to 66 in '03, and all three won exactly two. Every other year has had a different champ, and many many have reached the finals. It's a tough tough weight, where its basically who is the most hot that day. Haji just hasn't had his day. I for one hope that, if its not our guy, Tokyo becomes his day.

Its a shame. Yes not having the 1s vs 2s every match made it not as exciting, but there were still great matchups amonst numerous highly ranked guys. Not having the event sucks for people who enjoy high level college wrestling.

    Watch ADCC!

Decently entertaining event. It’s not always going to be viewer friendly if you don’t appreciate the nuances of the guard play. As primarily a mat wrestlers I love the chess match, but would much rather participate it than watch it intently. While most wrestling fans may not sit through the stalemates to long they would definitely be entertained by the highlights of these matches. I try to catch some BJJ and other grappling events on Flo occasionally when I notice a more high profile event. If you missed it the Absolute tournament (no weight division) at the end definitely was worth the wait. Some nice subs, a few big name matchups you don’t get to see with weight divisions, and one of the lightweights Giles from Australia unexpectedly taking out a couple big guys.

    Iran Wrestling News

I just read an interview with Hassan Yazdani. To me, the interview highlights the issue with Yazdani He prides himself in finishing all his matches in the first half, and he says I will not allow the match to reach the second half. Taylor is the one guy who can withstand the storm. Granted, Yazdani built a large lead, but the lead was not good enough to withstand Taylor's come back when Yazdani is gassed. Yazdani needs to do at least one of two things Improve his endurance conditioning so he does not run out of gas change his wrestling style against taylor, take it slow in the first half, and go all out in the second half I believe that Taylor does not have a chance against Yazdani when Yazdani is not out of gas, and history demonstrates that Yazdani does not have a shot against Taylor when Yuzdani is out of gas!

No for me. I think the coaching staff is promoting and advocating for opportunities for their athletes wherever they can. Why does everything have to be some kind of a conflict, even if it’s nothing but good for those we are speaking of, and detrimental to absolutely no one?
