Semifinal results Iran Mall beat Azad University 9-1 57, Nader Hajaghania beat Erfan Aeini 11-8 61, Bagher Yakhkeshi lost to Mohammad Ramezanpour 5-4 65, Mehran Nassiri beat Peiman Biabani 5-0 70, Ahmad Mohammadi beat Omid Khedmati 9-7 74, Khetag Tsabolov beat Masoud Kamarvand 15-4 79, Gadzhi Nabiev beat Alireza Ghasemi 3-2 86, Ahmad Bazri beat Mohammad Zare'ei 10-4 92, Javad Ebrahimi beat Hosseini Jalali 10-2 97, Ali Shaabani beat Sajjad Azizi by fall (5-0) 125, Jaber Sadeghzadeh beat Amir Reza Amiri 5-0 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Atrak beat Tous 5-5 (21-20 in classification points) 57, Reza Azizi beat Mohsen Maleki 6-1 61, Ahmednabi Gvarzatilov beat Arsen Harutyunyan 9-2 65, Morteza Ghiasi beat Amir Hossein Maghsoudi 3-2 70, Sadegh Firouzpour lost to Mehdi Yeganeh-Jafari 3-2 74, Jamal Ebadi lost to Mohammad Nokhodi 7-2 79, Sajjad Gholami lost to Jabrayil Hasanov 5-4 86, Ali Mojerloo lost to Hassan Yazdani 11-1 92, Ezzatollah Akbari beat Meisam Mostafa-Jokar 4-1 97, Mojtaba Goleij lost to Esmaeil Nejatian 2-1 125, Geno Petriashvili beat Ali Ebrahimi 10-0 all these matches finished with PP (3 pts for winner, 1 for loser) except Geno and Yazdani. Geno teched his opponent without giving up a point while Yazdani gave up a point and that made the difference. Yazdani could bring his team to the final if he could tech the guy 10-0 !! Goleij once again proved weak in local matches. Maghsoudi losing to Ghiasi was disappointing too. best throw of the day belonged to Shaabani. I didn't know he is capable of that. if it wasn't for the internet shutdown in Iran we would see lots of clips in instagram from that throw and fall. -

lol I wrote it about not getting too excited before reading yours. but seriously speaking even against both Geno and Akgul if Zare survives the first period he can beat them in second period. they both have conditioning problems even when they are 100% in shape. but that's a big if, we know how good they are in executing gut wrench. but Zare also can improve his par-terre defense , I'm sure he never faced anybody as good as Geno before. but, I'm not so sure if Zare's style works well against both Hadi and Mohebbi. they are both very big and won't get tired easily. but who knows, he is improving. -

And it's true that for the past 20 years the wrestlers climbing to the top of the political junk heap have tended to be hyper-conservative and not altogether that compassionate, thoughtful, or jacket-wearing. Kinda got off topic? -
1 pointYeah maybe. If he tried to engage in the ground for more than a few seconds, Ryan will start his back transition stuff and tap Bo out though. It largely depends on how disciplined Bo will be
-
1 pointYeah don’t put too much stock in bjj belts. put it this way - college wrestlers represent the top 2% of all wrestlers in the US. They are probably the equivalent of a black belt and that designation is never lost. Sure, they are all good, but a random D2 guy who is now in his 40s would still be a black belt, as would Bo Nickal. Obviously they are on completely different levels. Bo would pin them just like he would pin me - with zero effort. This isn’t a perfect comparison, but I think you get the point. I’ve rolled with black belts I can control, and I have gotten tapped by guys who have been training subs for a year...belt doesn’t mean all that much in terms of competitive abilities. there are levels to this. Gordon is out there tapping other world champions out. what’s interesting is Bo has a clear advantage in one area and won’t engage like a traditional bjj guy on the ground. The thing is, Gordon Ryan trains with some solid D1 AA types fairly often. He knows he won’t be able to touch Bo on the feet. He also knows wrestler tendencies and how to exploit that, seeing as his biggest weakness is his takedown game.

-
1 pointYeah... this isn't just a black belt. It is the best no gi practitioner in the world... likely by a long shot.
-
1 pointBo will get wrestling takedowns easily and at will. Bo has to basically sit in Ryan‘a guard for 3 seconds for a takedown to count for points though. Ryan is exceptionally good in that position. 3 seconds is a long time for him to get enough control so that Bo can’t just stand up. This is the main reason why Bo is a heavy underdog - a wrestling takedown is only part of what you need to do to score. Bo theoretically has a path to victory, but he has no chance of submitting Ryan so he has to last the entire 15 minutes and be winning on points. If Bo really wants to win and doesn’t care if it is exciting, he can just evade for 14 minutes and then hit an easy takedown and try to not get subbed. I highly doubt he does that. Bo can take Ryan down at will though. If slams are allowed, Ryan could be in trouble.

1 pointWe will have the Iranian league final 4 tomorrow, (actually in few hours) we had lots of controversies, withdrawals etc. it's a long list of wrestlers, so I'm only going to mention the notable wrestlers for each team. obviously the "Iran-mall" club has the most loaded squad. Semis will be Tous vs Atrak and Iran-Mall vs Azad University Tous: 61 Harutyunyan, 65 Maghsoudi, 74 Nokhodi, 79 Hasanov, 86 H. Yazdani Atrak: 61 Gvarzatilov, 86 Akbari, 97 Goleij, 125 Petriashvili Azad Uni has no chance against the Iran-Mall, and they have no foriegn wrestlers tomorrow. so I'm not going to write their squad. here is the Iran-Mall squad, none of them are unknown. 57 Atri, Hajaghania, 61 Yakhkeshi, Sadeghi, 65, Meisam Nasiri, Mehran Nasiri, 70 Emami, Ahmad Mohammadi, 74 Tsabolov, Rashidi, 79 Gadzhiev, Hassantabar, 86 Ghasempour, Bazri, 92 Karimi, Ebrahimi, 97 Shaabani, Mohammadian, 125 Zare, Sadeghzadeh it's kind of funny, having Karimi and Ebrahimi in the same squad ! looks like they hired some of these wrestlers to make sure other teams can't get them lol I would like to see Zare vs Petriashvili but I think Geno's team won't make it to the final. but there is a good chance to see another "Yazdani vs Ghasempour" tomorrow in the final.

He’s wrestled one year of college and went 27-5 was big 12 champion and had wins over AAs Sean Russell, Sebastian Rivera, Ethan Lizak and Zeke Mosley 4 times before losing to him in the blood round. Don’t sleep on Lamont he also has a win at 133 over Tariq Wilson his true freshman year..this could very realistically be an ncaa final in a few months -

Bo Nickal vs. Gordon Ryan - Modified Grappling Rules
herma48852 reacted to Ching for a post in a topic
As a few have stated, Ryan won't have to pull guard, he just needs to get taken down. Get a takedown, give up a takedown, you end up in the same spot, on the ground. Once on the ground, Bo will have to use a lot of compensating explosive movements and raw strength to either escape or avoid sweeps and submission attempts. His real downfall will probably be the length of the match as that compensation will eventually tax his cardio while Ryan will not have to exert himself. It is a freak show match, but I'm still interested. -

Brandon Eggum and Gopher wrestling
GranbyTroll reacted to Gantry for a post in a topic
The "4 years recruiting 1 AA" thing to me is misleading. Eggum's interim title was removed on January 2017 - so he hasn't been the official head coach three years yet. Also by January all the elite recruits are gone and nobody was going to be able to recruit or keep recruits in the middle of that xanax/jrob scandal. I honestly don't remember how many recruits left or got but to me he gets a mulligan for the class of 2017 recruits. It was a total disaster and you can't blame Eggum for not bringing in elite talent that year. Dealt an impossible hand, maybe others disagree here. That leaves the class of 2018 non-redshirting freshman recruits which he got an AA from Steveson out of. The 2019 recruits and 2018 redshirts haven't finished their freshman year and have had zero chance to AA. -
1 pointPretty crazy how much the RTCs have changed everything. Used to be that you pretty much had to train in Colorado Springs to get elite, year round training competition and now it's the exact opposite.
