Although my point total is far below many others, I still have a community reputation rating of "excellent." That's one thing I like about this forum, the low standards.

there have been over 600 3HR games in major league history; there have been just over 300 cycles. the latter is cooler; the former is better.

#1 Spencer Lee vs. #4 Nick Piccininni

Spencer Lee doesn't wrestle very many second or third periods............ sooooooo OF COURSE he doesn't score in those periods........ the graph is pretty meaningless in this instance.

This may be a hot take, but I’m going to go out on a limb and predict Jack Mueller doesn’t even qualify for Big Tens.

It also could be that when he wrestles a third period, he only needs a point or two to get his tech fall. For instance, he goes in leading 13-1; he gives up an escape and then gets a TD and 2 back points to win 17-2, thus winning the third period by only 4-1.

    Iran Wrestling News

1996 when Nader Rahmati failed the weight-in. if I'm not wrong at the time it was only 1 qualification tournament (Asian Champs) and Rahmati was overweight. if I'm not wrong in the whole history that was the only time Iran didn't qualify a full freestyle team. I have to check my archive to be sure but that's what I remember right now ps: keep in mind that before 1988 there was no qualification, everybody could participate.

i will say this: having all 10 guys in the medal round would be a hell of a lot of fun regardless of whether it is "worth more" than 5 titles in NCAA scoring. hell, i'm still waiting for cornell to put 10 guys in the tournament even if some of them are 2 and out it would be very cool to see them there.

I'm a Long Island transplant living in Central PA for the last 20 years and I've yet to find good pizza, at least the way I like it - so I make it myself - the way I like it. '-)

I was fortunate enough to attend one of Mr. DF's Passive-Aggressive Camps back in the late 90's. It was an awesome and life-changing experience. Each participant received a poster of Jadidi personally signed by the great Iranian himself. I had mine professionally framed and it now hangs proudly above the fireplace in the living room. (Wife hates it - which is another plus!)

Bekbulatov is going to wrestle 65kg. I thinkg he will quilifiy for Ollympics but its not going to be easy for him in Tokyo (cutting weight and getting medal). He is a great wrestler though, 65 will be sickk. Rakhmonov is not considered for Tokyo

I was kidding, somewhat. Never pass up a chance to make fun of Tom Brands, in particular. I like listening to the Brands' boys, and I think they've both definitely got something "wrong" with them, lol. They are odd, likable men, the key word there "odd". Perhaps it's their speech patterns throwing me, I'm an old Oklahoma redneck. If the Brands used John Smith's Cowboy-drawl they wouldn't get so much grief from me. I didn't say it right, but my whole impression of Lee is that he's remarkably down to earth, especially considering he's the center of the wrestling universe to a lot of guys (including Tom and Terry Brands). I'm surprised his head ain't the size of Mark Halls' with all the attention he gets around here!

    Cornell Big Red Wrestling

If this were the case, and it also appears that nearly all those who go through TC3 eventually matriculate at Cornell, doesn't this say that Cornell's admissions process misreads these applicants' ability to succeed in college classes? That these candidates didn't actually need to show anything? Premise: half the wrestling candidates need to show they can succeed in college and are not accepted. Fact: nearly all such candidates convince admissions they are worth admission (you mention one counter-example, out of how many?) Fact: nearly all such candidates graduate on time (any examples of those who went the TC3 route, matriculated, and didn't graduate?) Conclusion: the premise is incorrect (that's not why they go to TC3) or pointless (the candidates in retrospect didn't have to convince anyone of anything) Alternate Premises: the candidates are accepted but are not prepared to start at Cornell (the TC3 experience better prepares them); choose to defer for reasons such as postponing the financial burden; better preparing for D1 competition; other reasons not off the top of my head.

Agreed, wouldn’t it also just imply that those that score on him in the 2nd and 3rd period are much better wrestlers, hence why they made it to the 3rd period.

this is why Tbar sucks. A self proclaimed homer who starts hedging against his own team to look smart in the 11th hour.

Check your replay, McKee had Red pinned before Red pinned McKee. First pin should count most correct? ;_; PS: of course can't brick a pin

Love his positive attitude. Other kids love him, I think he'd be a recruiting magnet if he went HC immediately after graduating. You see the interview where he laughed about being reminded of getting pinned by Picc?

I think it’s Senior night. Probably fired up for the fans.
  33. 1 point
Would that depend on the on base situation for those? In other words, is 3 HR, 4RBI better than a cycle with 8 RBI? (3-2-2-1)
  34. 1 point
Agreed. I was just thinking the other day that it's not that unusual anymore to have two duals to choose from on cable TV at the same time. That seemed never to happen in years past.

#1 Spencer Lee vs. #4 Nick Piccininni

Lee is average at best and probably a below average wrestler in the third period. FLO put together these stats last year. Not sure how much they have changed since then. But note: there is a significant drop off in his own scoring in the 2nd and 3rd periods and an increase (or near stability) in his opponents scoring in those periods relative to the first. No doubt, the high numbers in the first period can be attributed to a great degree to his ability to tech fall many opponents then, but the fact remains, if you get to the 2nd and especially 3rd period, you can close the gap on him and even conceivably win. Lee 1st 2nd 3rd Opp 1st 2nd 3rd 2017-18 156 43 15 6 4 14 2018-19 131 9 2 5 9 5 Total 287 52 17 11 13 19 Average 7.972 2.364 1.308 0.306 0.591 1.462

    My Ringer Beat Your Ringer

I was coaching youth wrestling. We had a meet for the league championship. The other coach cheated with his kids at every opportunity, hiding kids, lying about weight classes and then protesting - 'we don't have time to do weigh-ins', etc. The previous year our teams met for the championship and he won by cheating, so I was ready for him the next year. It was going to be a close meet. He came to me and said, "I have a kid from the Jr Hi who is looking for a bout. He's pretty good, but not great. Okay if we set one up?" The kid was a ringer and I knew it. The kid ended up as a PA state place winner in high school. What the other coach didn't realize that I had brought my own ringer. So I said, "I have a kid who came along to watch the meet. He's in Jr Hi and is pretty good, too. Let's set it up." My ringer beat his ringer. We won the dual by 6 points.

Amazing accomplishment. Interesting that this comment falls directly below one on Mitch Clark... Who also won via tech fall in the NCAA finals... In the first period.
