2 pointsOther behaviors swept under the rug in the USA includes the treatment of Native Americans and Slaves. As more newspapers since the 1700s become available online, you will find unspeakable Christian offenses... not just physical violence or justified death but also meanness through constant labeling like savages. In ChristianityToday, there is an article snippet where I would wager the official was a wrestler since he had the self-discipline to follow through. An enterprising European official sailed to the Central American mainland in 1514. He hoped to settle large numbers of Spaniards there, to find gold, and to convert natives. He and his men adopted a simple approach. They traveled by night, stopping at midnight outside a chosen village. Before they entered, they declared loudly: “Princes and Indians, there is one God, one pope, and one king of Castile, who is lord of this country. Come at once and render him obedience, or we shall make war on you, kill you, and put you into slavery.” Even the rational thinkers like Thomas Aquinas get some things very wrong. He rationalizes that slavery is a punishment for sin, that it is okay to hit slaves, that slaves are of less intelligence and more robust physique, and so on in the Summa Contra Gentiles.

Thanks for the list of completely unbiased, non-propaganda literature and film. Someone conveniently skipped the unit on the crusades. And the inquisition. And a whole bunch of other events where Christianity justified violence. This is the most truthful thing you've said, yet when read in context it seems you don't actually understand the difference. -

What are the odds this thread lasts through the night? As a previous youth group leader and now an engineer, I believe that faith and reason cannot coexist. Read the good book again and you will find some of the good guys in the old testament meet the definition of evil. Praying to one person's god, in a group setting, is incredibly insensitive and sometimes offensive to others with different beliefs. People have died for less offense. Once you travel the world and recognize that religion is a byproduct of one's environment, some enlightenment may truly occur. You can believe what you want and not force it on others. There might be more Christians if not for the Christians -- the more you read the new testament and compare to the opposite observed Christian behavior, the less attractive it becomes :). Follow the golden rule and you will get along fine with anyone. -

Interview with Hassan Rahimi
Jaroslav Hasek and one other reacted to irani for a post in a topic
Interview with Hassan Rahimi, I only translated the portions that might interest the members of this forum Rahimi: Olympic delay helps those recovering from injuries and hurts the lightweights Former national team member said the Olympic delay will help Hassan Yazdani and Alireza Karimi Sportsnews: We caught up with Hassan Rahimi the four time Olympic, World and Asia Medalist while he was busy distributing supplies to the needy in South Tehran. Has Corona virus impacted you economically and in your private life? The virus, of course, has impacted everyone, and I am just as impacted as others. There is not enough money in wrestling to make you wealthy to the point that you don't have to worry about retirement, but fortunately, I have enough and I am not in need yet. Do you work with any other Charitable foundations besides the ImamAli foundation? No, I only with the Imamali Foundation which is managed by Rasoul Khadem Does the one year delay in the olympics help or hurt the chances of our national team wrestlers? You cannot give one general answer for all of our FS and GR wrestlers. For instance, Hassan Yazdani was forced to have surgery; the additional year gives him time to recover, and also get more confident about his recovery. Also, the delay allowed Ali Reza Karimi to have surgery and have time to recover in time for the olympics. It's a different story for the lightweights, wrestlers like Reza Attri who have to maintain thier weight for one more weight will be hurt and will suffer. Have you been invited to join the national team coaching staff? No, but if I receive such an offer, I will definitely consider it https://www.khabarvarzeshi.com/fa/news/256050/رحیمی-تأخیر-المپیک-به-نفع-مصدومان-و-به-ضرر-سبکوزنهاست -

College Wrestling Dropped Project - Your help needed
jross reacted to JasonBryant for a post in a topic
As many of you might know, I've been working on something I call the "Dropped Project" for the last two years. With the help of a list started by someone (I can't remember who), which was sent to the NWCA, I've tried to isolate the year programs were cut. I recently had this on one of the websites I manage, but figured a google document might be the best way to keep this thing moving, since formatting is a bit easier. So I need help from the wrestling community in helping compile this data. There's approximately 670 schools (give or take) that once had wrestling as a varsity sport and doesn't anymore. I need concrete dates (not guestimations) of when these programs were cut. I also have tabs on the spreadsheet for programs when they were added and another for name changes (schools like Tri-State changing its name to Trine, etc.). I'm going to sticky this topic. Please look over the document and e-mail me with updates, additions, omissions, corrections, etc. This has been a two-year project, which probably will take another two years to complete. Hopefully, we'll put more teams on the "Added" tab than the "dropped" tab during that time. Here's the link: http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key= ... y=CLXb3uAM Feel free to share the link with anyone you know that perhaps wrestled at one of these schools. I'm using my personal e-mail, but I you can send things to my usaw e-mail account as well, or PM me on the board here. It's going to take the entire community to help give us a stat to show where programs were cut, then we can dig into more reasons and develop ideas to quell the rash of cuts. We've added over 50 programs in the last 5-6 years. That's a start. -

1 pointI mean sure, if you want to call a 2-1 win a smashing. Zahid scored off a missed throw by Bo, that’s it. It was a very even match. This match was also 4 years ago so I don’t think it means a lot. Junior silver is not the same as U23 Gold and Dieringer is not as good of a win as Tcakulov. I think Valencia could potentially win in 2020/2021, but this post paints an inaccurate picture IMO. Bo would be the favorite to place higher in a tournament.

Zahid vs Bo Nickal who ya got?
Ohio Elite reacted to Housebuye for a post in a topic
At 86kg I’ll go with Zahid. Zahid smashed him last time they wrestled. While both have improved since, Zahid actually has better wins (Ringer) and similar international credentials (junior silver vs Bo’s U23 Gold). Bo is a beast, but stylistically I think Zahid gives him trouble. It wouldn’t be a blowout. In almost any other era, these guys would be multiple times world teamers. Neither may ever make a team -

The question that everyone really wants to know is what happened to Zahid Valencia? How come he didn't wrestle at the end of the season? Has anyone heard anything? Also, Daton Fix, what happened with that story? And, are there still legal proceedings going on with Flo? And what about Gable Steveson??? Is the investigation still going on or is it finally over? What did they find out? What about Dylan Martinez - wasn't he the guy with him? Nobody seems to care about this story. While we are at it, alone heard from Mudflap lately? -

What you're referring to is called "abiogenesis," not "evolution." Two completely different fields. Evolution is an observable fact. Evolution is simply change over time. You referred to "macro evolution" in your original post. That's a nonsensical term only used by people who don't take the time to understand what evolution is. The only difference between what you would call micro and macro evolution is time. One happens over a few generations. The other is that exact same thing over millions and billions of years. Would you stop believing in God if you accepted evolution? -

Top Assistant Coaches
stp reacted to balanceseeker for a post in a topic
He would be pretty high on my list. Top assistant from an elite program who is a 2X champ and a great communicator. I would think it would have to be a top program to lure him away as he is pretty well set up in C-Bus and is all about Ohio State and Cleveland sports. There was some talk of him for the Cleveland State position but I don't think he was a candidate. It would be intriguing to see what he could do with a Kent State or and Ohio U but like I said I think the only way he leaves Ohio State is for a head coaching position at another elite program. -

How to get a shollarship for wrestling when i live in germany at age 19 ?
Tofurky reacted to TripNSweep for a post in a topic
That's a laugh. Wrestlers in Eastern Europe get paid. If they didn;t, they wouldn't be doing it. My girlfriend wrestled there and when she arrived here and was at the OTC, she was very surprised to learn that American wrestlers who were trying to make an Olympic or World team mostly had jobs, working as waitresses or something else so they could train. If those types of wrestlers came here and figured that out, they wouldn't stay very long. A few have and do, but it makes no sense for them to give up regular income to travel here and wrestle for free basically. You wouldn't get top guys, you would get guys who aren't good enough to break into the top 5 or even top 10 in the country and figure that coming here is an easier way out. Aside from that, there are numerous other issues, like incompatible academics, language barriers, etc. -

Top 5 Worst Kind of Wrestling Fans
Swayz reacted to JasonBryant for a post in a topic
May not be in the realm of fans, but wrestling types. Those who lie about their credentials and conveniently forget details about those stats that no human being would forget, unless they’d suffered some type of brain injury. Example: I’ve been asked to fact-check someone in the business world who put national champion on their bio. I have no record of them in any college division, Fargo, AAU Junior Olympics, AAU Grand Nationals or any other name AA tournament from the mid-1970s When a contact followed up, they didn’t know the year, other than “I was in high school.” If you’re a “Junior Olympic Freestyle and Greco-Roman National Champion” on your bio, yet can’t give any other details - you’re fibbing or misrepresenting the title. This isn’t even getting into the realm of people who lie about their credentials and then try to scam people from that. -

Cael Valencia?
Ohio Elite reacted to Billyhoyle for a post in a topic
He was 2nd on the ladder in 2018 and 3rd in 2019. The people he has lost to are Dake, who is a 2X world champion, and Ringer has won many international tournaments. Zahid is also significantly younger than both of them. I'm not saying he's going to win an olympic gold medal, but those are outstanding results for somebody still in college, and I think he has established that his ceiling is olympic/world gold. -
