He was speaking in code. And the G was silent. Probably why you missed it. -

about Taylor getting knocked the f out in the world semis vs Kurguliev. If that’s an MMA fight it’s over. Less than a minute later Taylor is wrestling. Goes down 5-1 after the first and battles back to win that thing. Gives me chills every time I watch it. One of my favorite matches of all time. As an aside just how good of a coach is Casey Cunningham? His instruction in that match was perfect. He wastes no words, always challenges when he should and rarely loses them in other matches. I’ve watched him warm up and drill with Taylor the other night and Aaron Brooks before another event. Again does a tremendous job. I know he’s no unknown at this point but he just may be the secret to PSU’s sauce. -

Idk, other than Taylor being potentially knocked out and defaulting I never had any doubt he would come back and win the match. -
1 pointI finished 3rd in the Afton Quadrangular Meet three years in a row, back when it was a Tri Meet.

1 pointThe youth wrestling scene fascinates me. Between the conmen, drama (oh Lordy the drama), “secret code names” for moves.. eyeroll; “cause, that way they won’t know what’s coming”, the glorification of and focus on little kid results, the surprise when kids who weren’t “studs” as 10 year olds or started later got good. Or how they keep getting shocked 98% of the kids who started burn out “he was so good in 5th grade”. You kinda get used to seeing conmen like this come and go.

1 pointOur championship needs a catchy name - something other than "Nationals" or "NCAAs". Frozen Four, Final Four, and World Series are definitive monikers for their respective sports.

EIWA Statement Regarding the 2020-21 Wrestling Season

Plus, I think part of the strategy could be similar to how some schools are doing their academic years by starting and ending early thus reducing the amount of transitions from home to school. -

It may, or it may not be safer - but at least they will get past the Fall semester, and be able to step back and evaluate how well precautions put in place have been working. -

1 pointI would post some of the stuff by Schalles about how pig headed and detrimental this undeserved entitlement and general attitude is. But there would be no point

1 pointI never questioned whether it was a direct quote or not. For the record though, it sounds like you're going to get your panties in a wad unless he calls out all 20 specific sports by name.

1 pointIt's a winter sport right? I for one take that comment as a good thing...

What NCAA thinks of wrestling!
Tofurky reacted to JBluegill133 for a post in a topic
I for one expect him to mention every single individual wrestler that lost their chances to compete at NCAA's last year, their accolades, their favorite color, and a brief synopsis of their wrestling career from youth through college in order to be satisfied that he is respecting our sport! -

B1G Postpones Fall Sports

You put my family at risk by spewing garbage about this being a political thing that will vanish once the election is over. You were probably saying it would vanish once the warm weather hit weren’t you? People are dying bud...that’s not political. The crazy liberals aren’t pulling those strings. Going to the grocery store is a necessity. Going to hang out with your friends at a bar really isn’t. I’m not trying to take away your rights, do what you want. But don’t cry when we don’t have a wrestling season because of your disregard for the virus. That’s exactly why we are in the situation we are in. Maybe had we not liberated the states we’d be right on track. Unfortunately NJ alone still has 500 cases per day and people are still dying daily. -

“Again, if you want to see the negative in all this and live in fear than by all means do so just don't push that crap onto others.” What you don’t seem to grasp is I and my family are affected by others just like yours. We are dependent on others to do the right thing. -

So if anyone should cancel it would be them.... but I think those states take too much pride in their football teams than to protect the players -

Most Physically Gifted Wrestlers of All Time

Sports Illustrated May 13, 1991 During and early afternoon in Pittsburgh, Alexander Karelin, 23 years old and the most dominating wrestler in the world, is relaxing on a hotel-lobby couch. It is a substantial piece of furniture, and that is a good thing; the 6 ft. 3 in. Karelin's 290 pounds demand it. He has come to Pennsylvania from the Soviet Union for an exhibition match. Nobody passing through the lobby is paying him much attention. "Men of my size are usually not flexible," says Karelin. A mischievous expression spreads across the vast plain of his face. He rises and walks to a chandelier hanging perhaps eight feet above the floor. Lifting his right leg straight up above his head, he gives the chandelier a slight nudge with his size-15 sneaker. Now everyone has noticed him. "What's that man doing?" a woman screams. Karelin pads back to the couch, wiggles both of the ears that protrude like funnels from the sides of his head, looks up at the chandelier swinging gently back and forth, and grins like a schoolboy. "I didn't like myself before I began wrestling," he says later over a meal of pizza (nine slices) and apple juice (six large glasses). "Wrestling helped me to be at ease. Occasionally, I still wish for the privacy of being a little fellow nobody sees. Teenagers sneer, 'Look at this guy! The legs! The ears!' And older people see my face and say, 'My god! Look, quick! A criminal!' " Karelin sighs, uncrossing his mammoth legs. "I'm also a favorite of drunkards and others who seek to prove their strength by confronting me," he says. "Of course, I am grateful for my strength. It makes me self-sufficient. When I bought a refrigerator, I carried it myself up the stairs to my apartment on the eighth floor. Always, though, I am conscious that I am not a typical man. I can win a wrestling competition with a decent enough score, but because I am not typical, I must win in atypical ways." -
