    NLWC Event - PSU's future

Cupcakes? In most of the NLWC matches, the opponents the current PSU guys wrestled were ranked higher than they were/had been at any point. I.e., Verkleeren vs Zacherl (seeded 9th at NCAAs); BearClaw vs Shoop (seeded 20th at NCAAs). Kerkvliet has wrestled and destroyed two (2) all Americans in his two NLWC matches. Kerkvliet is currently ranked 17th. Starocci wrecked an All American. Michael Beard beat a guy seeded 9th at NCAAs. It's not the NLWC's fault that the HWC apparently doesn't train their collegiate guys to compete in FS.

Over 10,000 in nursing homes....and the reason for canceling the tournament is because they can’t have fans when they have schools that still aren’t allowing students to attend in person ,so if they aren’t going to make money they aren’t going to bother. You can go to strip clubs and gamble in casinos in NJ but the state wrestling tournament is too dangerous? Kids train their entire lives to be NJ state champ not wrestle 10 conference matches ( I’m pretty sure some conferences don’t even have 10 teams ) . Its all a damn shame

    NLWC Event - PSU's future

None of the guys you just mentioned are on the level of the competitors that the HWC brought in last night. The best guy was probably Skatzka. Go look up what Kemerer did to him last year. Penn State has a great young team. I'm mostly responding to a disingenuous comment from TBar who is rounding into form for the season.

    Iran Wrestling News

maybe because Iran is/was loaded at 86kg (where Firouzpour will probably wrestle) , even though letting the kid facing likes of Ghasempour and Yazdani would be a valuable experience for him. Emami had to face someone for the spot, and Hosseini (Asian Senior Champs Silver medalist) was the only candidate but then Elahi beat Hosseini in the league, so it wasn't a good idea to invite Hosseini and not someone who beat him lol (I'm trying to understand their logic)

HWC is getting in on the fun

He gave a +1 earlier for a "lift?" when it was a +1 for a lost challenge...

Ironside barely knows the freestyle rules. It's been a while since the hold + 1 was a thing in freestyle. Refereeing is a little shoddy.

    Stanford?

It doesn’t seem they’ve actually donated yet, just “pledged”?

If the New York Post story was highlighted on here, this topic would have been pulled long ago, but...

    Stanford?

We should take that 10M and endow a program at a school that really wants wrestling. Swimming upstream gets exhausting.

    Stanford?

I’d be happy if they just committed to make it happen in 21-22.

**** Regardless of his average wrestling career, he sounds like a real great character guy. To me he is very believable and has all the guts in the world to try to do the right thing. I would imagine he and his family are being threatened by many in power positions. America needs more people like him to step forward when corruption is rampant, regardless of how it may affect them in the future. God Bless You.

He was recruited , but once he wrestled "the big guy" he never got into the news again. Too bad, he had and still has a lot to offer. Might still be able to get the ultimate takedown.

    2020 world championships

I think Karimi ends up flying under the radar from running into Sadulaev and Cox, and now being behind Yazdani. He's has been to six straight age or senior level championships coming home with 4 medals. His losses in those tournaments break down as one to Sadulaev, three to Cox, and one thrown match where he was leading. He has solid wins in there as well. Year Event Weight Place Notes 2014 Junior Worlds 84 Gold Teched way through; 10-0, 10-0, 10-0, 12-2 2015 Worlds 86 Bronze lost 6-2 to Sadualaev in semis; 5 wins with 4 techs including in bronze match 2016 Olympics 86 7th lost 5-1 to Cox in quarters; not pulled into repechage 2017 U23 Worlds 86 13th lost 14-3 to Zhabrailov; was winning 3-2 with 1:05 left when threw match to avoid Israeli wrestler next round; Zhabrailov won U23 2018 Worlds 92 Bronze lost 5-2 to Cox in Semis; had 7-0 win over Sharifov; 12-1 win over Tcakulov; then 12-1 win over Marsagashivili for bronze 2019 Worlds 92 Silver lost 4-0 to Cox in finals; teched way to finals including 10-0 win over Zhabrailov
