Hey. My mom still thinks I am beautiful. That is what matters most. And that she brings me my meals 4x a day. Also snacks and drink refreshments twice between meals. Keyboard Warrior MD is a tiring profession, but the mum's basement thing helps a lot as far as convenience goes.

I can't understand at all why there is any interest in these fights, or why they are even considered "pro" fights. Paul has yet to fight an actual boxer or someone that is actually his size. Nate Robinson would beat him one-on-one in basketball, and Askren and Woodley would demolish him in wrestling or MMA. These are purely cash grabs, and somehow there are enough gullible folks out there for it to work.

Other than last year’s freshmen AA’s, who else has the chance to do this? Would have had to have redshirted in 2020 and competed in 2021. I can’t think of anyone besides Eierman? And do hope he wins so that he can have gone 5-4-3-2-1

People and organizations fall at different parts of the risk aversion spectrum. Add to that the large multitude of situational considerations and how people internalize a potential ‘benefit.’ Different strokes for different folks.

    Shelton Mack - UWW #4 at 61kg?

Yes, he won pan ams. It's a strict points system. There is no "US rep" in the rankings system. At most weights, there are multiple USA guys in the rankings based on their points. The seeds for non-olympic weights are going to be a bit wonky because there was an abbreviated (and scarcely participated in) rankings series season for 2021 and no points from the Olympics to balance it out. At Olympic weights, you'll notice the seeds are mostly just the results from the Olympics because they gave them extra weight due to the shortened season.

These fights are rigged and nobody is going to convince me the fighters that agree to fight Paul go into it with a certain agreement before hand. Everyone benefit even the clueless paying spectators.

Anytime the Big Ten has a decision to make, the first thing they do is have all the ADs fly in and get together for a meeting with the league commissioner to discuss how it will impact wrestling.

I don't blame the fighters, not even Paul. I blame anyone who is willing to pay to watch these "fights". Paul would lose to a decent amateur in his weight class and would make no money doing it, so he picks fights with non-boxers that are 20 lbs less than him and have a significant reach disadvantage. I don't see the interest, but others are apparently willing to shell out money hoping he gets his ass kicked. Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk

Think it's a reasonable line but that I agree on the under if I had to bet. Injuries. Can have a bad weekend. Competition is so tough, particularly with each class seeming like it has more college ready guys every year. Some percentage of guys just wear down at the end, and now you're adding another year of wear. Now I'm arguing the other way from my prior post, but we might lose a few of the 15 based on $, either because of the extra expense of tuition for an extra year on a partial scholarship (aren't most guys not on full rides?), or because want to take a paying job. Life is unpredictable! All kinds of stuff can throw you off. Like another pandemic. Or THIS pandemic, it's possible that the delta variant could knock out next spring's tournament. God forbid.

I think he has accomplished a lot, and will always be remembered as one of the greatest Freestyle wrestlers in order to be in the discussion among the GOAT FS wresters he has to contend with the following Movahed - 1 olympic gold medal, 5 world golds, undefeated for 6 years Habibi - 1 olympic gold, 3 world golds, one defeat in 6 years. It if wan't for that one defeat, which was a freak event, he would have two gold olympics medals Habibi loss in Rome Olympics Takhti - Most people refer to him as the GOAT because of his sportsmanship and longevity. 1 olympic gold and 2 silvers . 2 world gold, and 2 silvers, Rasul Khadem - 1 olympic and a bronze - two world golds and a bronze - but most importnalty, dominated his weight class and beat some of the biggest names for three years until his Knee injury. I persoanlly think if it was not for his knee injury he would have had one more olympic gold

Something negative happened to Nick Suriano so he is taking his ball and leaving? /intensely clutching my pearls But in all seriousness, if he actually does boomerang it's probably because he saw what NLWC did for Gilman and realizes after some personal growth & exploration that "ehhh, maybe it wasn't so bad in Happy Valley after all."

I do not think Dorostkar has any history of showing strategic brilliance However, it seems that HYC already made a strategic adjustment and his third match was the closest he ever had, and has Dorostkar said he just had poor execution in the past 20 seconds. To be honest, I was baffled and how easilly he gave up the last take down so, I am not sure Dorostkar needs to any outsmarting, they just need to make minor adjustments to the strategy of the last match

Lol relax. Did you see the part where I said “may have been a joke.” This is an internet message board, speculation is what it’s for. Probably (or like I said might’ve been a joke). But I think it’s still technically possible if he had tested positive with enough time to come back for trials and then it took several days for Suriano to test positive or something. Regardless, given Suriano’s history, if it’s not ASU (and it still might be) it seems plausible that something negative happened. Although if he’s still training there now it may not have been that bad (and getting covid from someone shouldn’t really be considered bad IMO unless maybe the person was being careless).

Your cautions are well stated and put the perils of a college career in thoughtful perspective, particularly in combination with treep2000's point about the extraordinary talent that is coming up every year,, but I'm definitely taking the over between the two champs and the deep group of the other AAs. Part of that is due to me thinking that a very high number will compete all five years due to how abbreviated their first year was.

i assume he dropped out because he has symptoms that are bad enough to mess up his training regimen and moving up a weight (since Gilman is blocking him) at less than 100% just doesn't seem worth it. he's probably right.

    Tyron Woodley vs Youtube douchebag

Yes, a 39 year old man isn’t in his prime and Woodley not quite where he was when he has the title. But he’s definitely got himself to a much better level than many guys at that point in their career. I’m not sure we are really arguing something different, but if you want some added perspective into it all I’ll put it below. As you mentioned you don’t follow MMA much, or you may notice the quality of opponents he recent lost too. If he dropped those fights to little know middle level fighter I’d agree he was at the twilight of his career sticking around a little too long. But lost his belt to the current champ and 2 pound for pound (no clue how they keep Jones at 1 without fighting) by a decision. Then he lost to the current #2 ranked fighter by decision. He followed that up with a loss due to rib injury, which I would ring up in the fluke category more than him getting beat on skill, though it was to the current top contender for the title. His last UFC loss was a little more surprising with getting caught in a choke after looking good early on, but it’s to the current #4 ranked guy. So sure someone can paint the picture that the 4 in a row shows he’s some old guy who can’t hang anymore, but honestly those were all to arguably the very top guys not mid-card fighters. Woodley would still be considered a quality fighter in his current state of 39 if he choose to be. But he was looking to get in a couple solid pay days before hanging it up and he wasn’t going to be able to work his way back to even a OK UFC pay day without a few more fights first. Not to mention the damage taken compared to a Paul boxing match. If he doesn’t get a rematch with Paul I wouldn’t be shocked if he tries to get at least one solid payday fight at another MMA organization to help pad his retirement fund with more than he probably would get for many of his prior UFC title defenses. Woodlet looked pretty fresh for 8 rounds of action and he attempted to have some decent movement in the ring for someone that’s not trained in traditional boxing. Sure he’s not making a career out of the sport and it maybe more of a knock on Paul than anything but if Woodley executed a better attack plan his hard handed striking would have likely put him over the top with one of the other judges since the 24yo Jake Paul was mostly just jabbing and maintaining beyond the opening few rounds. Honestly if you watch the fight I really can’t say either of them were interested in putting too many shots together most rounds. But as mentioned above it was still more of an attempt at some type of “boxing” than we had really previously seen in the other Paul matchups.

It is pretty unlikely any of the 14 freshman who AAd will be 5 time AAs. There are so many 2 and 3 time AAs that were clearly top 8 skill wise, but draws, weird calls, having a bad day, being sick, your gf breaking up with you the day before, etc have led to them not being 4 time AAs. I think it will not only be a cool bit of trivia, but also mind blowing impressive. Consistency is so hard

    Chael's Greco Discussion on FRL

I think many NCAA AA's could probably place in the depth we have right now. I watched wtt in greco and I know I have teammates who could get up off the couch and be an instant contender. 10 years ago no way that happens. I put up 11 on arguably the best 141lber of all time, and I was ranked maybe 5th or 6th. I honestly think if half of the AA's showed up to trials, our team would make major improvements in a few years. Guys coming out of NCAA's are capable of getting medals eventually. We've done it before.

AWN, WIN, The Open Mat, InterMat - all free rankings. There are breakouts that might be paywalled (such as a recruiting ranking or "big board" or Top 200), but rankings have been almost always free from nearly every wrestling outlet, at least on the internet. Before the web, you had to pay to get AWN, so they were paid rankings in the print-only era. Rokfin creators are a different story, since Rokfin doesn't "do" rankings, rather the individual content creators who have channels can opt to do rankings if they wish (just like any outlet really) and they can paywall them or they can't - on Rokfin, it's really only Willie's rankings carry any sort of weight in terms of being referenced by SIDs and other media covering events.
