    No HWC at WTT?

Yep, only I know the reason HWC is flat broke. KMF stole that money after he poured some truth serum down Perry. He is one step ahead of Johnny Law and buying the ladies "drinks" down to Mexico with that money. If you know what I mean and you do know what I mean.

Ryan Deakin has wins over Carr, Tsirtsis, and Lugo (#1 seed in cancelled NCAA's) Myles Amine might have the most "almost" wins over NCAA champions. He has 12 losses to NCAA Champions (1 to Ferrari, 5 to Hall, and 6 to Valencia), of those, 9 were decided by 2 points or less. Crazy!

    Starocci

Man, do YOU keep FLYING by his actual point. It isn't whether or not HE thinks Kemerer will win or lose. He has already said he thinks it is a coin flip. His ENTIRE point of making the bet at +4 is the FACT that several of YOU are flat out saying Starocci wins comfortably. What don't you get? He isn't talking about HIS opinion. He is talking about those of you that say it will be an easy win for Starocci. By setting the line at 4, he is essentially asking those of YOU to put your money where your mouth is in that regard. So, for 100% clarity, the bet is NOT in ANY WAY about what Vak thinks will happen. It is a bet 100% for those of you that think Starocci wins by a significant margin. It is essentially a " put up, or shut up" bet. Now, we know the Internet, so you really don't have to put up or shut up, but PLEASE for the love of God, stop deflecting and at the very least understand what the ACTUAL BET offer is!!! Edited to add: Instead of bickering over a betting line, why don't you clarify what you consider will be a "controlled win" for Starocci? You may not want to take the bet at 4, because it doesn't give you what you perceive as a padded line. So, then why don't you just say what you think the score would be? This way you don't have to take an actual bet for money, but you have clearly stated the type of win you think Starocci pulls off. That way you 2 can just wait until the match happens and revisit it then. I would think that would save a ton of back and forth bickering over an anonymous online bet that often results in the winner not getting paid!

    NIL Issues in Happy Valley?

America has a problem when we value a handful of opinions (even thousands) that come from the internet or social media. What kind of leadership do we have when a relatively small number of internet opinions can cause corporations and government to bow to their will?

Wrestlestat uses a ranking system that gives no weight to matches that haven't been wrestled. So, if someone (like Greg D.) has no matches, he gets no ranking points. With no ranking points, their score is 1200, which is tied for DFL in the weight class (at 125, there are 146 guys with points, so everyone without points gets #147). It's a statistical ranking, not an opinion ranking.

So, back to the original topic at hand: It basically comes down to which other teams can score 100+, because even if Iowa and PSU were to falther, their faltering won't put them below 100 or so. With that in mind, here are the teams I think at least have a chance to get into the 100's, with lineups based on what Wrestlestat.com currently has: 1.) Michigan-A TON hinges on Micic and Myles Amine wrestling. Still, Parris is , damn near a lock to make the Finals, Brucki could make the finals and Massa is a very strong mid level AA. Add on that Cameron Amine, Storr and Lewan are strong AA candidates and you have 6 strong AA chances besides Micic and Myles. Hell, even Medley could sneak onto the podium. The Stars would need to align just right, but I think they would have the best chance to score 100 out of the rest. 125-Medley 133-Micic/Ragusin 141-Mattin 149-Storr 157-Lewan 165-Amine 174-Massa 184-Amine 197-Brucki 285-Parris 2.) ASU-Not having Suriano at 133 makes it a bunch harder for them since they really don't have a STRONG Finalist contender. Still, Courtney, McGee, Parco, Teemer(I really like him to challenge everyone if he stays at this weight) and Schultz have all placed top 6. Valencia is a returning AA and Norfleet has shown at least Mid AA potential. If they can get some solid point production out of 141, 174 and 184 they could sneak into the 100ish range. 125-Courtney 133-McGee 141-Chlebove/Vasquez 149-Parco 157-Teemer 165-A. Valencia 174- C. Valencia 184-Fagen 197-Norfleet 285-Schultz 3.) Missouri- So much potential that just hasn't quite hit their ceiling at NCAA's. Still O'Toole, Mauller and R. Elam have proven themselves there and all the other guys have won matches at NCAA's. Essentially, every guy in that lineup could AA without any being a major surprise. If they could manage to get 2 or 3 guys in the Finals they have a solid chance at reaching that 100 pt. threshold. 125-Surtin 133-Schmitt 141-Hart 149-Mauller 157-Jacques 165-O-Toole 174-Mocco 184-Kent 197-Elam 285-Elam 4.) OkState- I think a lot hinges on the health of Brock, Gfeller and Plott. All 3 have had their performance seriously hindered due to injuries. But, fully healthy, they are legit AA contenders. After that you have Ferrari, Fix and Wittlake who all can definitely reach the Finals and Geer is a likely AA, while Sheets made a nice backside run to sneak onto the Podium. 285 is still a hole and 125 is probably only a couple points again, but, fully healthy, this team can score 100+. 125-Mastrogiovanni 133-Fix 141-Brock 149-Gfeller 157-Sheets 165-Wittlake 174-Plott 184-Geer 197-Ferrari 285-Harris After that, I just don't see anyone else with the firepower to reach 100. NCState should still be very solid and Nebraska looks pretty tough, but they just don't have enough big point scorers to get them to that necessary threshold. Also, I would say don't sleep on tOSU, but with all the recent musical chairs, I would be surprised if they get a maximum return out of a lineup that is still very much unproven but LADEN with potential! Here is tOSU's projected lineup since they do have a TON of yet to be proven talent: 125-Heinselman 133-Decatur 141-D'Emilio/Echemendia 149-Sasso 157-Gallagher 165-Kharchla 174-Smith 184-Romero 197-Hoffman 285-Orndorff

    Iran Wrestling News

Iran had to make a change in the Greco team, Amin Mirzazadeh at 130kg (5th place Olympics) tested positive for COVID and while there is still time for him to recover still he will miss the worlds because he will miss lots of training sessions. instead they are going to send World U23 Champion and 2021 Asian Champion Ali Akbar Yousefi. we also had extra trials at 55kg between Abbspour and World Junior Champion Dehbozorgi, Abbaspour beat him twice to make the world team. (Dehbozorgi beat Abbaspour earlier this year to make the junior team, they are both U20) so this is the final Greco squad 55: Sajjad Abbaspour 60: Mehrdad Mardani 63: Meysam Dalkhani 67: Mohammad Reza Geraei 72: Mohammad Reza MokhtarI 77: Mohammad Ali Geraei 82: Pejman Poshtam 87: Ramin Taheri 97: Mohammad Hadi Saravi 130: Ali Akbar Yousefi

    Yianni’s defense - new approach?

I think that’s a good analysis. I remember previous interviews where interviewers would say something along the lines of wow that was some incredible defense! And Yianni would reply yeah but I need to not let them in on the legs in the first place. So I do think that was a focus area for him, and he definitely improved there. If I need to know anything about wrestling or sports, I ask@ShakaAloha because he knows more than me.

Another welcome adjustment is that he's not wrestling like he must win every position. Even when in on a decent shot, if he senses danger, he knows to stalemate it out and get a fresh start. After giving up a bunch of unnecessary points in his first match against McKenna, his approach for the next two matches changed for the better.

    NIL Issues in Happy Valley?

Lmao I saw an ad for this show and it looks demonic. But the "pack of virtue signalers" are signaling to an existing audience. They're just doing it ham-handedly. It's also probably a generational thing. You might not have a lot of friends who believe in social justice issues because you're older, but a huge majority of people under 40 do. Most of us (at least that I know) roll our eyes at corporations virtue signaling because we see it for what it is (and also know that all of their actual political money is still going to politicians that oppose a lot of these issues), but it doesn't change the fact that they want our money and are trying to figure out how to best market to us. Just like other corporations use American flag/troop and/or blue collar imagery to market to more conservative audiences. It's not any different. You just think one thing is cooler than the other.

Guys like Retherford, Ruth and Askren were just such great overall wrestlers that they still did damn good in Freestyle, but losing their mat wrestling skillset hurt all 3 considerably. J'den will never get over the 2020 OTT but his life will move on. Folks showed their true colors in the aftermath. He is human. It may be 365 days to move past the OTT and it will take his death to dissipate his emotions at those that do not have his back. You ever lose an immediate family member, had your heart broken, or been publicly embarrassed about something that defines your identity? It scars you and takes time. Be supportive.

    Cox's Issues?

Reading all this is really just plain comical to me, because none of it matters. We all saw the same interviews. And everyone will have different opinions on the same. The reality is he's honestly just tired of talking about it or even dealing with it. Maybe it's a hint that the entire wrestling community should just drop it, because the 100% fact is no one on here is qualified to speak about it. J'den is fine. Let's as a community get behind him and all our wrestlers headed to Oslo and cheer them on to victory. Pretty sure at the end of the day, that's the only thing that maters. #itsjustwrestling

    Cox's Issues?

Obviously he was late to weigh ins and it was either his and/or KJ's fault. Nobody else to blame. I think KJ fell on the sword as it was their best bet to get the decision over turned, but J'den is clearly not mad at him. I think the root of his anger is he was told he could still weigh in once he ran off that 0.2 lbs, which he did, and was told he was good to go. Then someone must have thrown a fit about the rules (which is whoever he won't publicly call out, but I'm going to guess Cael, who is not a fan of J'den since he beat Taylor). It's his fault, but any one of us would be pissed at missing that opportunity as well. But I also agree that the "mad at the whole world" look, is not a good one. I want him to go back to the "I'm the best in the world" look.

    Daton Fix, first since when?

Eh, I’ve always been neutral about Fix fan wise. As far as rooting for him at worlds.. He clearly was caught using the exact PED that someone in his position would use and then offered the lamest and cliche excuses to try and cover it up. That’s what makes it particularly obvious to me. He didn’t pop for a random banned substance. He popped for the exact substance that he would need to most greatly benefit his wrestling and the weight he wrestled. If he’s clean and staying clean. Go USA. However, I’ll always have what he did in back of mind btw. Amphetamines can help weight cutting immensely. While I know he’s prescribed (insert ADHD amphetamine here) for other reasons. I had several teammates in college who used the extra sweating as a side benefit.

    Daton Fix, first since when?

The case appears to have passed scrutiny, and he's apparently performing within the given rules now. We can argue about whether the rules are fair and whether we'll still cheer for him, but the rules are a given. I was more torn on the subject of Russia at the Olympics this year. In a case with widespread corruption and zero contrition from the country, they were allowed to compete under the "ROC". If the Russian tone had been anything but combative and deflective, I might have been OK with the non-sanction of shaming the country if it also included competing under a flag that read, "We Cheated in Sochi". I'm not sure what a more fair sanction would look like in Fix's case. If the polygraph-tested statement is true, then would it be a better precedent to ban an athlete for 4 years because he drank from someone else's water bottle? I gotta think the Russians would be planting phony water bottles everywhere if this were a good solution.

Honestly, it happens a lot. Hell, Terry Brands wouldn't even look at his Bronze Medal. He, was just that much better than his competition when he won it. Now, I am not saying they simply didn't care. I am just saying that MANY guys can't get themselves motivated and up for wrestle backs. This happens a lot at NCAA's, but even more so at International competitions. Some wrestlers just aren't mentally prepared to take a loss and then reset and bring their "A" games. Now, I can't pigeon hole every wrestler into that category, but I watched those matches several times and they simply didn't look like they had nearly the same movement and fight in them that they did early on. Gilman's wrestling almost assuredly had something to do with that, but I just didn't see the same wrestling against him that I saw against Uguev. Also, please understand that I am a big proponent of GIlman. I have had many any argument defending him on HR since he made the switch. I think he wrestled a great tournament and fully deserved a medal. I am just calling it like I see it. His backside opponents didn't have REMOTELY the same grit and determination that he did and that made more of the difference than the actual wrestling on the mat!

Remember the pay-for- performance portion of the deal doesn't kick in until after eligibility ends, so sure sign a forward contract for whatever you want. Not unlike accepting any job offer before you graduate. Have a paid internship that leads to a full-time job. Why should that be any different than have an NIL that leads to a full-time job? People have a hard time getting past the propaganda the NCAA has pushed for its entire existence that there is a purity to adults profitting from the toil of minors. You have to live a particularly naive existence if you believe when Nick Saban, he of the 8 year $86 million contract plus Aflac commercials, preaches the virtues of being a student athlete or the vices of transferring to another school to get a shot at the NFL rather than sit on his bench so he can stockpile talent.
