I’m willing to buy a University of Northwestern season ticket after this. They really do the most with the least in the B1G — Jimmy Kennedy’s a huge loss. Hoping Andrew Howe has some security at the job, too. Can only imagine how stressful it’s been. Iunno how y’all are okay with cutting 16 pounds every week and surviving off rice cakes and salted slices of tomato for a whole winter, but wanna be nutritionists and healthcare professionals all of a sudden. Shut up, y’all gotta keep the dumpster fire threads on the International subforum. Ffs.

Until his son can get vax, he has every right to feel threatened by others lack of civic concern
  5. 3 points
Wait WHAT ?!?!?! So you acknowledge that both vaccinated and unvaccinated people get covid. Yet, you are somehow blaming someone who is not vaccinated for your hypothetical covid case and hypothetical transmission. You have been fully vaccinated, but worry about both getting covid and transmitting it. Have you honestly thought about the logic of having such minimal faith in the vaccine...yet getting upset about someone choosing not to get it.

Me, because I can still get a breakthrough case and give it to my 16 week-old son. Why What right does Jimmy Kennedy have to put my newborn unnecessarily at risk for short-term and/or long-term effects that can be easily avoided with a trip to Walgreens?

No one who didn't stress about someone without a flu shot being around their kid in 2018 should stress about someone without the COVID vaccine being around their kid in 2021. Unvaccinated kids have better COVID outcomes than vaccinated adults. [Source: nymag.com] "Long COVID" in kids is a very small risk. [Source: BBC] All vaccines are not created equal. The polio vaccine I got when I was a kid means I have a 0% chance of getting polio my entire lifetime. The COVID vaccine I got earlier this year means I can still get COVID, still transmit COVID, but supposedly means I will have a better outcome if I do get it. Oh, and it might have an expiration date and I'll need a booster. And the booster will mean what? If it means as much as the original vaccine, it won't mean much. In my opinion, the precautions taken to prevent COVID are extraordinarily out of proportion with the risk of COVID. A buddy of mine moved to Sweden in early 2020 before COVID hit. Had I known then what was coming, I might have stowed away in his suitcase. COVID is real in Sweden too, but life is normal.

This is 100% untrue, and highlights your ignorance. It was never said that any of the vaccinations available for COVID would make you completely immune. That is simply not how it works. If this was said, it was likely not by someone who has an actual understanding of how vaccinations work. You either misunderstood something, were given/read/watched some very, very, very misleading information, or just don't have the desire to try and understand how it works. I am not a genius by any stretch of the imagination, if I can understand how it works anyone can. Call and ask a doctor, they can give a very detailed explanation, and maybe a history lesson on some relevant topics to help enrich your understanding.
  10. 2 points
This is 100% false. No vaccine is 100% effective immunity and that of course is not required to make the case that it is everyone duty to get vaccinated to protect our communities and country. With reasoning like this we would all still be dying of smallpox and struggling with polio. There is an enormous difference in the risks posed by unvaccinated persons and vaccinated persons - enormous. You overlook that with a nonesense argument.

Just looking at the completed WTT on Flo, you can go to their calendar (or other locations) and click on the event. That takes you to a page that has video, news, results, etc. on individual tabs. Click on "videos" (which should be the default) and select "match" from the filter under "Content Type": that skips post-match interviews, etc. On the next page, you'll see the matches by name and round. Unfortunately, the round gives you information about what might have happened previously (e.g., if Yianni's final match is shown, you know he won everything before that). Also unfortunately, it doesn't appear that you can sort the videos by oldest, which would allow you to go round-by-round. At least you can watch a video replay without knowing the exact outcome of the match.

So you ARE a science guy? But you just get your news on Facebook?
  20. 1 point
Natural immunity has scientifically been proven to be anywhere from 13 to 27 times more effective against covid than the vaccine, yet we scream at people who wont take an unnecessary medical injection because they are dangerous, all while not understanding the naturally immune we are screaming at are over ten fold more immune than the ones who got the injection. Maybe Kennedy already had it and is better equipped against the virus than many people calling him a danger to society or somehow morally corrupt for not going along with the narrative "just let them inject you idiot". These, btw, are the same people running a slogan "protect the vaccinated from the unvaccinated" and calling for a 4th injection to be safe. Perspective seems to be a premium the last 6 years

    Worlds Day 1 61/74/86/125kg

*Gilman got a pretty good draw, should be wrestling for a medal either way . *Fix is an an OK spot.... If he makes the quarters I think he has a good shot at a medal . *Yainni is in a pickle... Lol the clearly tougher half, opens with an easy match, then gets one of the favorites, then another monster on the quarters just to get to SHakiev in the semis... If he drops one of those first 3 a medal seems unlikely, hate the draw. Green has a favorable draw. Dake's great JB has a few warm up matches before a seemingly tough quarters. Not that it should matter, but has Taylor's 1st round opponent given him a tough match before? *Makoev was real tough for one tournament in his life, since then everyone's handle him. Cox is gonna be in full Cox mode. A lot of 5-0 type wins . Sadulaev-Snyder 4 is locked Gwiz is in a tough spot, he loses to Zare and then hopes Zare beats Taha so he can finish 5th .

Will Iowa Get a Team Trophy?

As for their team hardware aspirations, really depends on how their young guys develop out of redshirt. Ybarra and Kennedy will both have 2 years in the room by the time they wrestle. Kennedy and Ayala, I have super high hopes for, upper AA/contender right away. How Assad recovers from his injury will be key also. They're losing literally 100+ points from their team all in all though for 2023.

    Iran Wrestling News

Brackets got reset for some reason, so this is our actual draws: Sarlak rests first round, then has winner of Yemen and Ecuador, if he can beat them he probably has Erdenbat. I assume he loses here but if not Abe of Japan (2019 Junior world champ) and Atli are also on his side and potential semi final opponents. Russia and USA on the other side. Amouzad - Starts off with a Hungarian with a Russian name, not sure who he is. If he wins that he has 2018 57kg U23 world champ Hasegawa of Japan. His quarter should be manageable and if he wins there he gets the world cup champ and favourite Magomedov of Russia in the semi final 65 Yazdani got a nice draw for himself. Opens up with Austria. Really this is about a good a draw as you can get at 65, might be his best chance to medal. Russia, USA, Japan and the Armenian who was terrorising everyone for a couple months are on the other side. Elahi opens up at 70kg with 2019 junior world silver from Japan Motoyama, who seems to be losing weight for some reason. He lost a close match in the junior world final at 74kg against the American who beat Nokhodi. Russia is also on his side of the bracket. Emami starts with a Mongolian who I don't recognise off the top of my head, but then has a 2019 world semi rematch with Kaipanov, if he wins there he will have Kenchadze. Bizhoev, Umarpashaev and Salkazanov are all on his side for a potential semi final match. Nokhodi starts with Italy. He completely avoids Burroughs, Russia and Gulaev (this years euro champ) who are on the other side of the bracket. The other Kenchadze brother is on his side but he can't ask for a luckier bracket than that. At 86 due to a seeding redraw Yazdani has Tayor first round. No, just joking. He has a rest first round, then the winner of Poland and Kazakhstan. Seems like he should stroll to the semi against Naifanov. Ghasempour likely has a Mtisuri quarter than a Cox semi final. His first match is against the winner of Urkraine and CRC (no idea where that is) after he rests in the first round. The legend Goleij opens up with the man no Iranian can beat even going back to prime Reza Yazdani losing to him at world cup. Yes, it is Odikadze again. Can Goleij break the curse and beat Mr 5th place? If he loses to Odikadze then he can't expect to be pulled back in. If Goleij makes it to the semi final he will face Snyder. Sadulaev is on the other side. Zare, my favourite wrestler, has Khramiankou first round, Khramiankou is pretty decent but Zare should beat him. If he does then he has the winner of Gwizdowski and Dhesi of Canada. Then he'd have an Akgul semi final. Pretty bad draw for Zare but he should get a bronze at the least if he can win his first match.

I'm not arguing that he can/can't feel a certain way. I'm questioning the logic in blaming another person when he is literally saying he is fully vaccinated yet blaming someone unvaccinated because HE/HIMSELF (vaccinated person) could get covid from another vaccinated person and he as a vaccinated person be the one to transmit it. But he wants to single out someone choosing not to get it. Facts: Fully Vaccinated person can get covid AND transmit covid. Fully Vaccinated person can get covid from unvaccinated person OR vaccinated person. Fully Vaccinated person can transmit covid to a unvaccinated person or vaccinated person. I know they initially 'science' said that getting the vaccine meant that you would not get covid....which now 'science' has shifted to say it just protects you against symptoms of covid. Consequently, it should not necessarily matter whether someone chooses not to get vaccinated - because you are already protected against the symptoms (not getting/transmitting).

    World Championships Bold Predictions ?

Sadulaev wants to be better than Saitiev, Karelin, and Medved, People who lost once or twice in their entire international careers and in Karelin's case never in pure wrestling terms. He already has his one odd loss and the Snyder one. Snyder is a good wrestler, but has defeats and bad defeats at that. If Sad wants to pass those others he'd have to do it by wrestling for a really long time if he starts losing on the regular.

Agreed, but at the same time I don't think I've seen anyone "hyping" him to be a freshman champ either. In fact a red-shirt is far from out of the question. I think the typical fever (there's always a few in a crowd that overhype, no matter who we're talking about) is at a place like penn state/iowa, his ceiling is very high by the time he gets through college. At a place like IU, he could be a program changer, but what is his development going to be like vs a grounded, proven staff, like penn state/nlwc

well, chainsaw... i am hopeful we win some matches... that will be a good showing... but... Hancock is always a threat at 97 no matter how small he typically comes up... i am interested in seeing schultz at 130... he is a multiple time age level medalist... pat smith at 72 could be interesting... he looked good and good sized at trials... provisor at 82 will always be interesting... he appears to be wrestling a little different and i am hopeful he gets better results... vera at 87kg is worth following... omania dropped sancho (olympic team) at 67... i don't know much about him, but, he handled sancho at trials, so, maybe he will do something... seth jones at 63 balled out at trials... he is a little long in the tooth and this is his first world team... i am hopeful he surprises...

Along a similar line of thinking I’m going to wait until he can beat a prime Dan Gable and John Smith back to back, followed by a prime Brock Lesner and Jon Jones in the octagon, then prime Flair and Hogan in a triple threat steel cage match, and just to ensure it wasn’t all luck we will go international and he can face a Sicilian in a battle of wits when death is on the line. If he make it through all of this I maybe sold he could win a couple college matches. Inconceivable!

My opinion might be controversial, but I remember watching Karelin's matches that Olympics and he just did not look like he was in the kind of shape he needed. I'm not sure but I don't remember him completing a reverse lift on anyone. He just wasn't as sharp. So when it came to the finals, I thought he might be vulnerable. And he was. I think it was more surprising that Rulon beat him than someone else, but it had to be Rulon. And he proved it was no fluke the next year, becoming World Champion. It had to be someone that believed they could beat the Russian Bear. I think only Rulon had that mindset. More surprising that Rulon was the one because of his relative inexperience on the senior level. Not so surprising that Karelin lost. He was not sharp that year in my opinion. mspart

Relative to his performance from the prior 2 years, it was a "bad" tourney for Spencer. Killian Cardinale didn't just go the distance, he scored 2 takedowns on Lee! Also, keep in mind that, in the quarters vs Schroeder it was something like 3-2 going to the 3rd period. I don't think it's a slight to say that Lee's performance that weekend was a low point. For him. Because that's the standard he has set

Cornell's not losing to Army unless they sit all their main guys, i.e., Yianni, Vito, Darmstadt, and Fernandes. Navy beat Army in their dual last year. While it is always close between those two, I don't see Army turning the tables with Kolat getting another year to work with his guys.
