WHOA! FIX HAD HIS JUICES FLOWING THERE! You see what I did there. But also, seriously, Fix looked incredible.

It is still a World Championship regardless of who chose not to go. The amount it is "watered down" depends a lot on the particular weight you are talking about. 86 kg, 97 kg & 125 kg are very tough and most of the non-Olympic weights are comparable to an average year. 57kg 74kg & 65 kg are missing some pretty key guys but you can only wrestle the guys that bother to show up.

Are you telling me an anti-vaxxer is getting his data from a bad, obviously propagandistic source that confirms his priors? WHAT???? Not all vaccine skeptics are this stupid, but some of the stuff posted on this forum is breathtaking. I've met 8 year olds better at vetting information sources.

But this is NOT VAERS. It's OPENVaers.= which is an anti-vax site. https://www.logically.ai/articles/california-woman-anti-vax-site-openvaers I believe the reported figures are simply those that happened AFTER getting vaccinations. Just because B happened after A doesn't in the least mean A caused B.

There are two feeds on Flo - the Flozone just has the guys in Austin. Mat B has the global announcers and the arena noise. Honestly given only one mat going in the semis there really isn't any point in watching Flozone.

    Flo is not in Oslo

Flo is not doing commentary for the main UWW feed (which goes out to many other countries, not just where Flo streams it) but 6 Flo's are very much Oslo and working inside the arena right now. A few more Flo's will be in Austin hosting a watch party. Also you couldn't watch Worlds on UWW's website for free since at least 2017. TrackWrestling had UWW streaming rights from 2017-2020 and charged you to watch. I think before before that they may have been free but they didn't even have a live broadcast in the FILA days, so we're talking maybe 2 or 3 years of free broadcasts (which also meant UWW was losing lots of money on the event). You also aren't being charged $150 to watch the worlds on Flo you are being charged $150 for a years worth of the greatest bundle of wrestling the world has ever known. still may not be worth the money to you but you get a whole lot more than one super bad ass tournament for your 150.

Nice! I am going next weekend! I would watch a session and get a run in as soon as I could. Often it was too hot. I am on Hal Higdon Intermediate 2, with a touch of Jack Daniels (not the whiskey) along with my own lifting and running. Calculators tell me I can run a 3:52, but I'm shooting for 4:00. I lost 60 over the past few years, and have had covid, skin cancer and a couple minor injuries this past year... so I will be happy with whatever. What time are you shooting for? Good luck!

Who's the commentator in this match?

It's Jason Knapp. He's very good. Knowledgable. Focused on the action. Provides stories and background but doesn't stray too far from what is going on. He relies on the experts and insiders (e.g., John Smith) when he has them on. He also has a pleasant voice. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jason_Knapp_(sportscaster) https://twitter.com/jasonknapp44?lang=en

No one disputes the fact that natural immunity is more effective than the vaccine, right? If so, then why would anyone support a vaccine mandate for EVERYONE? Furthermore, it is an indisputable fact that we do not know what, if any, long term side effects the vaccine may have. So I don’t blame anyone for not getting the shot if they are low risk or already have natural immunity. I chose to get the vaccine, but I am not attacking others for not getting it. This is what leads to such division in this country. The argument that you are concerned for the unvaccinated children doesn’t really hold any weight because it is a fact that unvaccinated children are still at a much lower risk than vaccinated adults. If I need to know anything about wrestling or sports, I ask@ShakaAloha because he knows more than me.

The Worlds are watered down this year

On the other hand, we had decades worth of World Championships where many of the nations we now considered strong in wrestling, perhaps the majority, were all competing for the USSR and collectively sending one representative. And there were 10 weights every year. A World Championship is a World Championship (with the possible exception of the one Steiber won, as it was in an Olympic year with all non-Olympic wrestlers). Part of a Championship is showing up and earning it.

You are an A+ poster. Much better than me. But I have a different take. I am only interested in worlds and not Flo’s other content. So in order to watch worlds, I have to pay $150 for the privilege (even though it used to be free), or get a VPN. I’m not willing to do either. If I recall correctly, at least Track allowed you to simply purchase the event for $20 or something, which I did. So thanks Flo for ruining worlds for me.

Lol it really slows down the match, tough thing to do in a sport where pace is pretty important. Rule should be that if they can't decide in one minute to overrule, the ref's call stands.

Fix with 2 nice and fast TDs, and a sweet counter TD. Plus a shot clock point. Winning 7-0. Vs Vangelov (Bulgaria). Looking good. Not able to get his gut going. Vagelov with some good D there. Fix with offense is special. I've given him grief for a lack of offense in the past. Really like seeing him pull the trigger. Ends with 4 pointer at buzzer! 11-0. On his TDs, gets to leg and is able to pull it way out from under opponent, love it.

    Worlds Day 1 61/74/86/125kg

The weight issue relative to one's running times is interesting. From everything I've read and experienced myself, if you can lower your weight in a healthy manner, it will definitely improve your race times. Here's one accessible article: https://thewiredrunner.com/does-weight-loss-make-you-run-faster/ As you age, of course, your maximum amount of oxygen declines (VO2) and so does your stride length, I think. https://www.cnet.com/health/your-vo2-max-explained/ The key thing I concern myself with is injuries when I start adding distance or speed work. When I was much younger and much lighter in weight, I never got injured when I wrestled or ran (played soccer or tennis or whatever other sport). I discovered more recently that doing yoga seriously helped to maintain flexibility (and prevent injury) even if it is initially difficult to coordinate with distance running in terms of the muscle sets and the amount of time one has for it. Good luck! What marathon are you training for? (Maybe you said and I missed it.). It is an intense and memorable experience. I recall hearing that after the Boston Marathon a runner once came up to Bill Rogers and asked him "How are you able to run so fast?" (he ran a 2:12 or something like that). He replied to the much slower runner who had finished around 5 hours, "How are you able to run for so long?"

Troubled to the point where you imply the CDC isn't a legitimate source of information? That's not a funny thing to joke about. People read and believe these types of things. If you truly wished everyone would get vaxxed, you wouldn't be going down that road.

I like the "degenerate" part. I didn't miss a freestyle match in the Olympics this summer, despite working, being a dad, and training for a marathon. I was a mess by the end of the games.

Natural immunity has scientifically been proven to be anywhere from 13 to 27 times more effective against covid than the vaccine, yet we scream at people who wont take an unnecessary medical injection because they are dangerous, all while not understanding the naturally immune we are screaming at are over ten fold more immune than the ones who got the injection. Maybe Kennedy already had it and is better equipped against the virus than many people calling him a danger to society or somehow morally corrupt for not going along with the narrative "just let them inject you idiot". These, btw, are the same people running a slogan "protect the vaccinated from the unvaccinated" and calling for a 4th injection to be safe. Perspective seems to be a premium the last 6 years
  45. 1 point
So you are saying unvaccinated folks in the US are not the reason Fletcher's kids have to wear masks? Maybe this is a world issue, maybe we should've allowed 20 to 40 year olds to also get vaccinated early, maybe this was a complex completely new thing and no one couldve figured out the perfect way to address the pandemic, nor have we yet in hindsight?

No it isn't. Akgul should beat Zare(my opinion). Gwiaz will nit be drawn into repechage in that scenario. IF Zare beats Akgul, then Gwiaz would still have to defeat Akgul for bronze. Bottom half is without a doubt a much worse draw than the top half.

    Bo Bassett an Iowa lock?

Unless rules change or he reclassifies, the earliest he can sign with a team is November of 2025 lol That being said, he seems to spend quite a bit of time in the Penn State room already. Don't know how it works but he's there training a lot. Think it's because he's in middle school technically the rules don't apply to him yet (or as long as Cael doesn't talk to him about wrestling for Penn State) I'm sure Jody will push Iowa but Penn State has gotten most of the Young Guns kids they've prioritized over the years minus Spencer. We shall see, it'll be a recruitment for the ages. Can definitely see Cornell being a factor as well since Erik Gibson is heading there and it could be a pipeline for Mason and Bo

    Bouzakis to Ohio State

Snyder, Pletcher, McKenna and Moore NOT EVEN REMOTELY peaked as freshmen. Hell, Myles Martin had, by far, the best year of his career as a senior, but simply had 1 bad match at NCAA's. The mat wrestling comment is getting old, tired and inaccurate as well since it is really only based on the Jordan family's performance on the mat. Of their current starting lineup, how many show glaring weaknesses on the mat. Please be specific...
