Can't believe no mention of KJ

In my opinion KJ is simply not the big-picture CEO type that is required to run a national program at a high level. That's very different than being an assistant to one of the best CEO's in college wrestling in Sean Bormet though. I think he will excel in this role and be an absolute beast for them on the recruiting trail.

These days, all he does is lock himself in his studio for hours on end and creates the same art over and over..... nudes of Bubba Jenkins. Sometimes it's paintings, sometimes sculptures, but it's always Bubba and he's always nude. I hope this answers your question.

Unrelated but I didn't even realize Beloglazov was at Michigan. I wrestled with his son growing up and Sergei the father would occasionally drop by practice and do something astonishing. I remember him doing about 20 one armed chinups. One arm unassisted (no holding it with his other arm). We were all just kids and thought it was cool but he never explained (nor did our coach) exactly who this guy was. The family was humble and kind. Sorry for this tangent. I realize this is completely off topic. I'm having am old man moment.

From UWW: "I really wanted to win in Oslo, because five-time world champion sounds better than four-time champion." "Years of work pays off and thank God I won again. I always have tough matches with Snyder. I could barely get off the mat at the Olympics, today I was tired at the end, but everything went well." "In Tokyo, I immediately began to attack, but here in the first period I decided to see what he would do. I understood his tactics, and in the second period I did not let him take the lead." "I don't have any special tactic for the matches against Snyder. I know he is trying to wear me out. So I was trying to make him wrestle my way and not let him set his own rules. In the end, I noticed that he got more worn out than me." "Personally, I think [Snyder] was better prepared physically and mentally at the Olympics. I was more tired there. It was easier to win [for me] here." ___ Nothing too shocking, although I found the last sentence interesting. I expected Sadulaev might point to his knee injury as a reason for the closer match in Tokyo, but he pointed to Snyder being better prepared for that match instead.

Well... it's not just RTCs anymore. It's RTC + NIL opportunities. They go hand in hand though, considering the ability to form an RTC is contingent upon your ability to fundraise (in addition to having some actual wrestling success).

Can't believe no mention of KJ

Yeah. Where one sits on the RTC situation is going to largely depend on what one values more.......parity in NCAA wrestling or USA achievement in international wrestling. Me personally, I'm not a big fan of NCAA wrestling, nor do I have a favorite team (I went to a d-2 and my favorite school since I was a child does not have wrestling anymore). I am much more into the international scene and America's results there. So I am a big fan of the RTC's and frankly could not care less how it impacts NCAA recruiting. I'm sure many are on the exact opposite end of that spectrum.

And IU is working on finalizing a deal to get the entire Iranian and Russian coaching staff and athletes to Bloomington. I think the outstanding fall foliage will win them over. ;)

That's because us old geezers think the old time greats are the greats. Not sure who could be Monday or Kemp nowadays. They were incredible. mspart

You're third sentence is the absolute truth. I spent little over decade in k-12, most as an AD. Remember a volleyball coach I hired at beginning, he asked if I was to say what is the one biggest obstacle to building something great......without hesitation I said parents. You can't do it without them, but they can easily be the biggest roadblock, especially in today's environment.

I sure hope not, that is where my current 9 year old will be wrestling in college.

I don't think I'm getting caught in the moment. The Tank is just that good. He made the world finals with Olympic and World gold medalist Snyder look like a routine practice session. It was pretty much a perfect match. Took almost no risk, scored all the points, blocked everything Snyder had (which was nothing, since Sadulaev gave him nothing), and controlled both the pace of the match and where the wrestling occurred. 10 out of 10 in "mat generalship" (to borrow a boxing term). He has the best mat generalship. He holds position the best. He can handfight the best even against a bigger brute like Snyder who has both a size and reach advantage. He has flawless technique. He has the cardio to go with anyone. He has hands down the best par terre. He can scramble the best. He is the best and after this match, I'm calling him the GOAT. The medals will follow, but even right now, he is the best wrestler I've ever seen. How do you beat him?

Joining staff with Bormet and Belaglosov at Michigan. All forthcoming pay attention to your watch jokes aside, that's pretty nasty threesome right there.

This is a pretty attractive event when you live in north Texas. There's a couple of questions I'm hoping someone has answers for. 1. Globe Life Field is not a covered stadium. It gets pretty cold in February, even in Texas. How do you hold two dual meets in potentially freezing temps? 2. The mats won't be very close so visibility will be poor (see map below). Anyone know if they will show this on the viewing screens in the ball park so people can get a better view? 3. Anyone know if this will be televised? Thx in advance for your help. GO MIZZOU!

I wonder what his scholarship situation will be. I am guessing nothing. From that standpoint PSU will be the NIL front runner, considering all that deferred NLWC money and the sold out crowds.

    JB and Cox post Oslo

Zahid gases so hard, man. This is going to be so bad for Zahid. It will be like the first Yazdani-Taylor match without Zahid ever taking a lead. When DT puts his foot on the gas pedal Zahid's lungs will explode, implode, or some combination of both. I am all for Zahid being good enough to medal on the world stage (depending on draw), but not while DT is at 86 for us. That is the worst stylistic matchup on the planet for Zahid.

There will also be some floor seating right behind the infield I believe. I got my tickets! Should be a fun event!

One of my favorite brackets. Had former finalists Alex Tirapelle & Percival. Former champs Bertin & Gentry. Future champ Paulson. Plus a few other scrubs thrown in there like Joe Johnson & CP Schlatter.

For awhile I was thinking IU might be sitting in a pretty good position. I don't know anymore. When you have RTC's like NLWC and CKWC pulling for you and the track record of staff and athletes on the senior level that they have........choosing IU seems like a tough tough proposition.

Yes -its quite a shame that way. I guess the natural match up will be DT Vs Ghasempour and may be an interesting one for fans but DT may not any incentive to take part- not sure

    JB and Cox post Oslo

After seeing JB at 79 with one calf, I want to see him at 86. To me it seems obvious that when they changed the weigh-in procedures that it effected his performance (now). This was the best version we have seen in a long time, and it was on one calf!

Is JB now the American GOAT?

There is no question it is more difficult to win a gold medal now than it was in the soviet era. Each bracket has 4-5 medal threats now that would have only been there as a training partner for the soviets. Add to that the current climate of free agency, and you have former soviets wrestling for Hungary, Serbia, Bahrain, etc. etc. on top of Azerbijan's Uzbekistan's, etc etc. The "GOAT" talk is all very subjective and different for each person, but I think that has to be factored in heavily. Tied for #1 in golds and #2 in total medals is a pretty good combo, particularly in this era.

Thanks for the research. The old ballpark was called Globe Life and was not enclosed. I forgot they moved the name of the park when they moved to the new stadium with the roof and climate control. All good!

Where in Texas and where are you from in Mo? My family and I moved to DFW area in 91 from St Louis. My son wrestled for Rocky Streb at Oakville.

    1. Globe Life Field has a retractable roof and is climate controlled, according to MLB.com 2. I don't know, but it would make sense to use in stadium screens 3. This will be streamed on Flo

Tough to give him the credit for that success when the Regional Training Centers got funded and kept most of those athletes training on campuses. Hard to deny the impact of the Regional Training Centers influence. At one time not long ago there was talk of Cox being our p4p best, unseating Kyle Snyder and being the only person on the planet with a chance to beat Sadulaev. Do you think there is a possible argument that Cox has not gotten better?

BSaitiev is my favorite wrestler ever, but he is not as "perfect" (as in mistake-free) a wrestler as Sadulaev. He was way more fun to watch, incredibly creative, a grandmaster of many more techniques than Sadulaev is a master of his key moves, but I am just so impressed with how Sadulaev completely owned Snyder and how Sadulaev keeps solid position every second of seemingly every match. He is so good at being so basic. Maybe having a few kids keeping him up at night will slow him down.
