  1. I don't understand pigtails all that well, but wouldn't it require four pigtails per bracket?
  2. Nicholson got beat by Mizzou true freshman Joey LaVallee at the Harold Nichols Open. Granted, LaVallee is gonna be really good, but hard to say that's off to a great start for Nicholson, isn't it? Then lets put Joey LaVallee on this list.
  3. Marsteller is very likely to be a 4 time AA, so it is difficult for me to believe that a coach would turn down a request to pursue his wrestling dreams. Highly skeptical. Additionally, aren't PA kids a premium in Happy Valley? Wouldn't he put arses in the seats?
  4. Burroughs humblebrags all the time. who cares? he's also a gracious champion and RTs other wrestlers own humblebrags. and a slightly unrelated note, he's also a tireless shill for his ASICS shoes, but whatever, if i had my own shoes i'd be tweeting about them incessantly too. I don't care, I think he deserves to brag (humbly or not) about his accomplishments - as does Taylor...that is my whole point. Where are the people bashing Taylor for arrogance when Burroughs does the same type of stuff? It just shows the hypocrisy and inconsistency some people have... Are you suggesting that the two have an equal amount to brag about?
  5. Perhaps I am overlooking someone, but multiple champs are listed here and no one fits that pattern. Jeff McGinness won as a freshman and senior, but wasn't a four time B10 champ.
  6. SInce Askren only wrestles folkstyle and has no idea how to throw a punch, this seems like an appropriate forum for this topic.
  7. Nothing beats classic lines and a flowing mane.
  8. My girlfriend and I have been fighting a lot lately. I am more or less out of room on my neck, but I have been thinking of somehow morphing my swastika into her name. You know, just to show her how much I really love her. Can you recommend a good font? Olde English?
  9. When do the Altons come back? Black Shoe Diaries suggested they would not be in the lineup to start the season. I would guess the most reasonable time would be either the Scuffle or immediately after, depending on the extent to which Cael wants to expose them to the grind of a major tourney (4-6 bouts over two days), http://www.blackshoediaries.com/2013/10 ... -it-begins Thanks for the info. When the time comes, I assume James Vollrath will get his fair shot.
  10. Any WI insiders here that can verify a story? I heard a story that goes like this: Askren was very dominant in HS, so he got bored and used to clown around a bit in matches. For this, he was roundly criticized, told to be serious, blah, blah, blah. He showed for state weigh-ins wearing a wry smile, a nice suit and toting a brief case. Why? Because he is all "business".
  11. Do you work the kill floor in a varmint packing plant? I didn't know such places existed!
  12. Ticking away the moments That make up a dull day Fritter and waste the hours In an off-hand way Kicking around on a piece of ground In your home town Waiting for someone or something To show you the way Tired of lying in the sunshine Staying home to watch the rain You are young and life is long And there is time to kill today And then the one day you find Ten years have got behind you No one told you when to run You missed the starting gun (Solo) And you run and you run To catch up with the sun But it's sinking Racing around To come up behind you again The sun is the same In a relative way But you're older Shorter of breath And one day closer to death Every year is getting shorter Never seem to find the time Plans that either come to naught Or half a page of scribbled lines Hanging on in quiet desperation Is the English way The time is gone The song is over Thought I'd something more to say Home Home again I like to be here When I can When I come home Cold and tired It's good to warm my bones Beside the fire Far away Across the field Tolling on the iron bell Calls the faithful to their knees To hear the softly spoken magic spell...
  13. Rutgers? It's in central New Jersey...but that's not important now. Hands down the funniest post I have ever seen on this board! Well done! ::golf clap:: Agreed
  14. It evened out for him. He couldn't repeat the win over Sajidov in 10 lifetimes
  15. In a 19-way tie for 59th place with zero points. Ouch.
  16. I had a six year old who was pinning everyone with a headlock. When he came off the mat after yet another first period pin, I took him aside and told him: 'you aren't going to be able to throw that on the really good kids. Stop relying on the headlock.' --- or words to that effect. I didn't say never do it again, I just told him to lay off for awhile. Swear to god, I coached him for 10 more years and I never saw him throw another headlock. The following year when he was 7, he was Eastern National Champ. Go figure. At the kids level coaches need the parents to help with that. Way too many dads are celebrating their 6-10 year olds getting those 1st period pins using "junk" moves. They argue that "it works" when you try to steer their "champ" away from what pins other 6-10 year olds and into techniques they can use and perfect as they get older to beat real wrestlers. I resemble this comment. I don't see any problem with people teaching little kids moves that are going to make wrestling fun for them. My youngest relied heavily on this very move when he was really young - so much that he would run around the front from top position to hook it up. It was entertaining and a crowd would gather at his quarter of the mat to watch it. We celebrated every win. Opposing coaches who took things way too seriously would get really pissed at him for it. I remember a lot of internal chuckling at those guys. I recall him telling me at 10 that it didn't work anymore and he went onto other things. 8 years later, he is still wrestling and loving every minute of it.
  17. The Tour De France/UCI is inconsistent. Oscar Pereiro was declared the winner of the 2006 Tour after Landis was disqualified for doping. Andy Schleck was declared winner of the 2010 tour after Contador tested positive. Also, in 1996 Riis admitted doping, but they still keep him as champion. I think virtually every Tour victory is tainted.
  18. Taylor's legacy needs a win over someone like howe.. What is his biggest win to date?
  19. If memory serves, the shot count was accumulated throughout the match. Angle ran his count up by taking weak arm spin shots. Angle was able to manipulate the "slip by" rule to his advantage and so, despite his win, he is the true anti-hero of this match.
  20. Get a hooker to tuck you in at five am and you are officially in bachelor paradise.
