  1. Most importantly ... Our P.N.W. kids have another opportunity on the West Coast. We have good kids, who just don't want to move 1/2 way across the country.
  2. Evidently you guys (some of you) have not been paying attention. We just finished the largest tournament in the PNW. With 100's of Cheerleaders ... On the floor along all the mats, and in the stands These young wrestlers just love to walk around in their uniforms with no issues. The singlet is an attraction at the least, if not a badge on honor. If a kid is so insecure .... He would not make a good wrestler in the first place. Making varsity status, with the Schools colors .... Priceless. http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=Tacoma+News+Tribune+video+matclassic+mats&&view=detail&mid=6BF7265070DBD0434D256BF7265070DBD0434D25&FORM=VRDGAR

  4. Universtiy of Washington Washington State University of Oregon Just off the top of my head....
  5. According to multiple sources locally here in Washington: Bill Rogers, father of Jordan and Chandler Rogers, took his own life yesterday. We folks from Washington State and the rest of the wrestling family ... send our condolences to the family.
  6. Nice ... A good dual is like a good music concert. The NCAA tournament is like Woodstock.
  7. UW (Seattle) and Oregon used to a barn burner !!!
  8. No kidding !!! This forum is going downhill .... Hardly ever come on anymore. And the other one is even worse.
  9. Posted Today, 01:03 AM He was a 113lber last year, and he still looks small out there. We should still have that "Olde" 118# class.
  10. So.... As a former wrestler, I worked very hard on my flexibility range of motion etc ... As I suspect most of us understand. It was a very key aspect of my/our abilities. So here is the question: Why can't Pro Football guys do the same? I swear Marshawn Lynch has spent almost the entire season on the bench because of pulled muscles.... Hamstrings, and now Abdominal Muscles. One would think this would be a focus for the coaches and trainers. I live about 3 miles from their training facility and I want to go down there, and introduce them to "Our" wrestling flexibility abilities, and how to get flexible in the first place and stay flexible. PS: Even now at 60 YO, I can touch the floor with the palms of my hands.
  11. Plus ... 2 of our Wa. best are sitting on the bench. (Roger boys)
  12. Not Li Marty ... Marty is JV to this other guy. The guy was for sure from NY, and he talked about his Condo in NY City all the time.. Very argumentative.... He finally imploded, and dropped off the site. Footnote: I was in an argument with Rockwell / Rockhead when he got his final warning and was banned from The Mat.
  13. wrestlingshoe .... Me too !!! Local kid from Maple Valley, Tahoma HS, rolled around a bit at WSU ..(Not good enuf) 2 trips to State, when we only advanced 4 to state per region. (1970-1973) Ed was a great announcer !!!
  14. I think it's fixed .... Not sure what happened

  16. Sandy and Ed were the best team ever. We lost Ed a few years ago, and now Sandy is being replaced?? Ed, also would do our High School Championships. He was great.
  17. https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=Tacoma+News+Tribune+video+matclassic+mats&FORM=HDRSC3#view=detail&mid=6BF7265070DBD0434D256BF7265070DBD0434D25 We have all classes under one roof ... (Including the Women) Yet after years and years of effort, we still can not figure a way to take all those Champs from the different classes, and put them together for a FINAL, single championship. The kids are just worn out by that time. League , Regionals, and the 2 and 1/2 days of STATE, is a grind. No question, that some of those Eastern Washington (High Desert) Farm boys would put the hurt on the city kids. Before the separation of women and men ... we had a little gal at 125# place 3rd ... a few boys were counting lights that year.
  18. Had an argument with a friend regarding this topic. "We" have been wrestling for a very long time !! Also, the man mentioned "Ed Aliverti" was a Seattle product, who was an amazing announcer. http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/sports/olympics/story/2011-10-18/wrestling-artifact-history/50817198/1
  19. Most of us are right handed... Hence, we scratch the right NUT. The left is disposable.
  20. I also liked the Robes. In Washington High School wrestling there are several teams who would come out with "The Robes". I stil like them.
