  1. not scheduled to wrestle a big ten dual in 13-14. hopefully they can get a dual set up outside of the big ten schedule.

Maybe they can setup a triangular with Okie St during the weekend of the MSG National Dual Championships.

not that unrealistic. OK ST is at PSU that weekend, right?

  2. idk rossel.

im not a stats whiz by any stretch, but im not sure i get what you're saying.

i think it's relatively simple and clear to take AVG # of HS wrestlers in a given state and coming up with some sort of ratio based on AA's. this was done on the penn state boards on scout.com a few months ago. i looked, but couldn't dig up that thread.

if im reading you right, you're saying that greater participation would lead to different outcomes.

im not sure you have to go down that road.

we know, for instance that state X has X number of wrestlers and X amount of AA's.

    why be speculative?

(not arguing here, i could certainly be wrong. just after a healthy discussion, and i certainly respect your opinion and insight.)

  3. Going by participation rate is misleading too. A state with a 7,000,000 population feeding a participation pool of 25,000 will yield a much higher quality pool than a state with 2,600,000 with the same paticipation pool.

Ask yourself this. Are the top 20 wrestling from PA better than the top 20 from Utah. Obvious answer!

Raw population cannot be factored out of it.

i don't believe this is accurate

  5. Aly -

    conflicting stances there.

moving NCAA's up would attract LESS endemic fans.

that would mean having NCAA's at a time when most high school coaches and wrestlers are in their own season and at state tournaments. in which case, they can't travel, they can't enjoy the spectacle of ncaa's, and they can't pay as much attention to it.

this is the major problem, imo, of the timing of national duals.

  6. two of my personal favorites.

i spent some time hanging out with Q a couple summers ago and he's such a nice person. the kind of person that would give you the shirt off his back.

JO - from my hs. i've watched so much of him through the years that i knew when he started backing off a bit that his game plan was probably to score one late. he had two good chances in the first and didn't convert (Chamberlain is incredibly difficult to score on). and the shrug was there all day. i wanted to shout it. sure enough, he hit it to win.

really enjoyed watching both their careers.

we knew Oliver had/has serious international aspirations and in his post match interview Q said he'll be wrestling for World Team spots too. im glad we'll get to see them continue to compete

  7. lucky duck, wire.

i plan to get some fishing in after the season as well. but im sure nothing beats fly fishing in the NW.

some good hs wrestling this weekend with Dapper Dan and NY-NJ.

i might be in the minority, but i like the week break between conferences and ncaa's. gives everyone a second to digest, banter, and gear up for the big show.

  8. Seeding is not about either getting the two best guys to the end, nor is it about getting the best match at the end. Seeding is about rewarding the people who have wrestled the best season.

    exactly.

and what LtWt said is hogwash. there's enough of a season to make it perfectly clear.
