  1. In the Big Ten's case, they have matches on Monday, February 22nd, so having the conference tournament that Saturday-Sunday (the 27th and 28th) is probably a nonstarter. In the Big 12's case, best guess would be arena availability...remember, the Big 12 uses a neutral site venue.
  2. Now you've just disqualified the entire American program this year...
  3. All times Eastern, with local times in parenthesis. *-indicates a one-pound weight allowance shall be granted. 4. If the EIWA did placement matches this year, that would be the first time ever for them. For what it's worth, last year the ACC, Big Ten, and EIWA did not do true placement matches, the Big 12 (including for True 8th!), MAC, Pac-12, and SoCon did.
  5. Normally would expect there to be a "Bracket Buster Weekend" event for guys needing to hit the four-match threshold, but in the COVID era, that simply isn't likely. (for what it's worth, the only conferences that are having their tournaments the normal weekend are the Big number conferences)
  6. Probably because of a smaller number of schools sponsoring the sport to begin with.
  7. That and NIU has had problems keeping some of their best wrestlers from being poached.
  8. They'll likely be an upper-mid-tier team in the constructors' championship... Oh, you aren't talking Formula One? Never mind!

  10. Knowing the timeline of when Echemendia committed to Iowa State and reneged on his commitment (or was reneged, neither of us know the situation), there's no way a National Letter of Intent was signed.
  11. Dang...thought I had that one (albeit as a 3 PM start time)! Added in its correct slot.
  12. If I was, it would be there immediately...I may be a troll at times, but certainly wouldn't be on this one. (just ask anybody who's on here, for example gimp, about my suggestion that we go back to the 2007 NCAA Championships qualifying system some years back)
  13. Yes, completely aware. OU was also on SDSU's schedule for roughly the same time period. However, OU only added the Little Rock quad to their schedule on Wednesday, complete with a press release about adding it to their schedule: https://soonersports.com/news/2021/1/27/wrestling-sooners-add-quad-dual-in-little-rock.aspx
  14. Probably is a bridge too far, but will see what can do for future weeks (February 1-7 is already in motion, so certainly too late there, but beyond that it's a possibility).
  15. That's actually done for the coaches. Hasn't been much of an issue this year, but has been an issue in years' past when, for instance. Friday: A vs. B, 7 PM Saturday: A vs. C, 12 PM; C vs. D, 7 PM Coach of Team D would probably be (pleasantly) surprised to learn that his team gets a pound (to say nothing of the wrestlers!).

  17. They changed the rule the summer after that incident. Rule changes only take place in odd-numbered years.
  18. At first (it happened right in front of me, but I had a side view of Eblen's actions) I thought it was a bad call, but it was pretty darned clear that it was a headbutt on video review. (it was also only called unsportsmanlike initially, was called as flagrant misconduct upon review...believe it was that summer that it was decided that all flagrant misconduct calls MUST be reviewed if the review is available)
  19. It was the Consolation Round of 16 in St. Louis (2015). Steven Curtis was the official...anything else we need to know?
  20. The Michigan wrestling room is its own standalone BUILDING...which tells you how much sense this makes. (they compete at Cliff Keen Arena, alongside volleyball and men's gymnastics, for those wondering)
