  1. It's interesting to me (at least) that the Mountain West Conference - which has 3 California schools compared to 4 in the PAC-12 - also announced yesterday that they will begin their 2020 football season on October 24th - roughly 1 month from now. And the MWC will play 8 conference only football games as well as a 2020 Mtn. West Conference championship game on December 19th. Whereas the PAC-12 chose to start 2 weeks after the MWC football season begins and will play only 7 games. Which would - I believe - leave out the possibility of a PAC 12 championship game.

  3. I'm sure you're correct on that. I was simply going by the bio page on the Penn State wrestling website which has this on Schnupp "Sophomore Devin Schnupp returns after starting the last two seasons for the Nittany Lions at 125 pounds."
  4. From the official PAC-12 press release: "For the Winter sports of wrestling, women’s gymnastics, and men’s & women’s swimming and diving, each university will determine when practice may commence in accordance with local public health official guidance and the situation on campus." https://pac-12.com/article/2020/09/24/pac-12-announcement
  5. Penn State's starter at 125 lbs the last two seasons isn't even listed by WrestleStat on the Penn State roster. Instead WrestleStat is projecting incoming true freshman Robbie Howard of Bergen Catholic H.S. as the starter for Penn State at 125 lbs. Question is what's the deal with Schnupp? He was listed on the Penn State roster last season as a Junior - and he was redshirted for the 2016-2017 season. Did he graduate? If there was news on this clearly I must have missed it completely.
  6. The decision will be made today as to whether or not the PAC-12 will follow the Big Ten and abandon their previous (foolish) plan to not play football this year. If one assumes that they will follow the Big Ten and play an 8 game conference only football schedule this year will that open the door for the other sports such as wrestling to abandon the previous plan of not participating in any sports this calendar year of 2020? https://www.newsbreak.com/california/los-angeles/news/2068557793760/the-fate-of-the-pac-12-football-season-will-be-decided-thursday
  7. Yep - that's what happens your conference is run by idiots who completely fail to recognize the need to add teams in a timely fashion. Rather than LITERALLY waiting till they could wait no longer before finally choosing to add ANY other school. I have to wonder how long it will take the PAC 12 to add another school after Stanford ends their wrestling program next spring. Will they once again wait till there is no more time left to do it? As they did when they added Little Rock.
  8. have updated their wrestling team rosters for the 2020-2021 season. Namely: 1. Arizona State - https://thesundevils.com/sports/wrestling/roster 2. CSU Bakersfield - https://gorunners.com/sports/wrestling/roster 3. Little Rock - https://lrtrojans.com/sports/wrestling/roster 4. Stanford - https://gostanford.com/sports/wrestling/roster Oregon State and Cal Poly have yet to do so.
  9. Just curious to know if anyone here might know where Contino might be headed for College next year. I just watched his 2020 CA State tournament semi-final match vs. Cael Valencia and he was dominating that match early on but got caught and pinned in the 3rd period. According to the CalGrappler website his top three possible schools were listed as Arizona State, Stanford and Missouri. http://www.calgrappler.com/top-10-uncommitted-california-high-school-wrestlers-from-2021/ And here is a link to the YouTube video of the match I referred to with Cael Valencia: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7srFhdzvZak Contino beat Max Wilner in the Consolation Semi-final match (5-4) and Wilner is headed to Arizona State next season.
  10. I sincerely doubt any starting spot will just be given to someone. BTW when you do a WrestleStat comparison between Chlebove and Kline this is the result you get: Josiah Kline over Julian Chlebove 9 - 8 When you do a Wrestle comparison between Chlebove and Crooks this is the result you get: Julian Chlebove over Cory Crooks 8 - 3 And when you do a WrestleStat comparison between Kline and Crooks you get this: Josiah Kline over Cory Crooks 10 - 4
  11. Arizona State fans had better pray that Jacori Teemer and Anthony Valencia (either one of them and especially BOTH of them) don't end up suffering a season ending injury. As there is nobody who can effectively take their place in the lineup.

  14. Z and A both redshirted at ASU as true freshmen for the 2015-2016 season and Anthony also utilized that season as an Olympic redshirt. Or at least that is my understanding of it. That allowed him to use the 2018-2019 season as his NCAA redshirt year. That also allowed Josh Shields to move up from 157 lbs to 165 lbs for that 2018-2019 season - to replace A V. Z - apparently - did not use the 2015-2016 season as an Olympic RS year.
  15. Looks like someone at ASU reads this forum as Shields has now been removed from the ASU roster and the freshmen and transfers have been added to the roster for 2020-2021.
  16. Maybe the best phrase that would sum up this (first) attempt at a 2020-2021 Arizona State wrestling team roster might be "A work in progress". Clearly there is more work that needs to be done.
  17. Josh Shields was listed on the 2019-2020 ASU wrestling team roster as a RS Senior. And he has, in fact, been wrestling at ASU for 5 seasons - including his RS year in 2015-2016. Yet, somehow, he is listed on the 2020-2021 ASU wrestling team roster as a Graduate Student. Did he somehow get an additional year of eligibility or is this simply an error on the part of whoever put this ASU roster together for 2020-2021? I also noticed that whoever put this roster together for ASU failed to include any of the incoming freshmen and any of the incoming transfers from other schools: https://thesundevils.com/sports/wrestling/roster
  18. The link I added to this message doesn't seem to be working - for reasons unknown to me. So I'll try to post it again here: Little Rock story on their 9 new additions to their wrestling team
  19. According to this website story from 2 days ago. One of nine announced new additions to the Little Rock wrestling team is Gabe Beyer from Tallahassee, FL - who has been on a church mission for the last two years but was committed to Arizona State out of high school. https://lrtrojans.com/news/2020/9/3/little-rock-wrestling-completes-2020-21-roster.aspxhttps://lrtrojans.com/news/2020/9/3/little-rock-wrestling-completes-2020-21-roster.aspx
  20. He has, in fact, withdrawn his name from the NCAA transfer portal.
  21. The only people who have access to the NCAA transfer portal are administrators and coaches on NCAA member school campuses. I am neither one of those two.
  22. Apparently a few of you are unaware that Real Woods has already entered the transfer portal AND that he said in a mini-interview that he was looking to transfer to an Ivy League school. So this discussion about academics and financial aid packages appears a bit foolish at best.
  23. Is when Stanford University will begin their fall 2020 Autumn quarter (which is only 2 months in length). The start date is September 14, 2020 and it ends Nov. 20, 2020. I bring this up because of the status of Real Woods and Shane Griffith. Woods entered the NCAA transfer portal within days of the announcement that the 2020-2021 season would be the LAST season for the Stanford wrestling team. Shane Griffith has not entered the NCAA transfer portal and appears to be staying at Stanford for their last wrestling season. But as it pertains to Real Woods one has to wonder if he is, in fact, going to transfer elsewhere, or simply stay put at Stanford. With only 3 weeks to go before classes begin at Stanford it would seem he's running out of time to transfer elsewhere. I'm a little shocked that Woods is the ONLY Stanford wrestler who has entered the transfer portal. At least he's the only one I know of to date who has entered the transfer portal.
  24. Namely Little Rock and Cal State Univ. at Bakersfield. CSUB wrestling team roster for 2020-2021 season Little Rock wrestling team roster for 2020-2021 season Underclassmen who were on the 2020 Little Rock wrestling team roster who appear to be missing on the 2021 Little Rock wrestling team roster are the following: 133 lbs - Cody Mirander - 2020 True FR from Allen, TX 141 lbs - Trent Dooley - 2020 True FR from Allen, TX 149 lbs - Korbin Riedel - 2020 True FR from Tonganoxie, KS 174 lbs - Cash Jones - 2020 True FR from Bentonville, AR (He was the starter for Little Rock at 174 lbs last season) 197 lbs - Steve Elwell - 2020 True FR from from Knob Noster, MO 285 lbs - Gunner Cash - 2020 Junior from Shawnee, OK 285 lbs - Miles Santiago - 2020 True FR from Sunset, LA Wrestlers who are listed as members of the 2021 Little Rock wrestling team by WrestleStat who are NOT listed on the updated Little Rock roster for 2021 are: 174 lbs - Triston Willis - 2021 RS FR - Transfer from Oklahoma State (according to a number of articles from May of this year) 197 lbs - Bear Hughes - 2021 RS JR - Transfer from Oklahoma State (according to a number of article from June of this year)
  25. And they also have delayed the start of a number of Olympic sports in the M.A.C. I have to wonder if this will carry-over to the schools in the M.A.C. with wrestling teams. Those M.A.C. wrestling programs are: Buffalo, Central Michigan, Kent State, Northern Illinois, Ohio, and affiliate members Missouri (since 2013) and SIU Edwardsville (since 2018). https://www.freep.com/story/sports/college/2020/08/08/mid-american-conference-cancels-fall-football-season/3326139001/
