  1. Thanks - I appreciate you mentioning this. I've been wondering what his class year will be for quite a while.
  2. Thanks. I put Raimo at both 125 lbs and 133 lbs because Zeke Jones said Raimo would be moving up to 133.
  3. Just something I put together during my forced internment in my own home the last month or so. Corrections are welcome on this. ARIZONA STATE Arizona State has won three of the last four PAC 12 wrestling tournaments and will almost certainly be, barring a slew of injuries or unseen events, the favorite to win the PAC 12 tournament again in 2021. Primarily because the Sun Devils return four of their five 2020 PAC 12 weight class champions. The only 2020 PAC 12 champion from Arizona State who won't be returning is Tanner Hall at 285 lbs. The four 2020 PAC 12 wrestling champs who will be returning for the Sun Devils are: 125 lbs - Brandon Courtney - 2021 RS Junior (25-5) 157 lbs - Jacori Teemer - 2021 RS Sophomore (17-5) 174 lbs - Anthony Valencia - 2021 RS Senior (22-6) 197 lbs - Kordell Norfleet - 2021 Senior OR RS Junior (14-3) The Sun Devils also will have two wrestlers who placed 3rd at the 2020 PAC 12 tournament returning in Cory Crooks who placed 3rd at 141 lbs and Cade Belshay who placed 3rd at 184 lbs. Belshay is projected to return at 184 lbs in 2021 (he dropped down late last season from 197 lbs after Zahid Valencia was suspended). Crooks will be a RS Senior and is projected to move up to 149 lbs in 2021. Belshay will be a RS Junior for the 2021 season. ============================= The probable lineup for Arizona State's wrestling team for the 2021 season is as follows. Returning Starters are listed in Bold print. Of couse this is all subject to change as some wrestlers may move up (or down) from their present weight class and there may be transfers involved which would affect this probable lineup in the next few months. All rankings are from WrestleStat 125 lbs # 12 ranked Brandon Courtney - 2021 RS Junior (25-5) 2020 PAC 12 champ at 125 lbs PAC 12 MATCHES LAST SEASON -- Courtney beat Jackson DiSario of Stanford twice. First by Tech Fall (17-2 in 7:00) in the ASU vs. Stanford dual match and 4-1 at the PAC 12 tournament. Courtney also beat Oregon State's Brandon Kaylor 14-8 in the ASU vs. Oregon State dual last season. Courtney also defeated Jayden Carson of Little Rock by Tech Fall (20-4 in 6:20) in the dual between ASU and Little Rock. Courtney also defeated CSUB's Alex Hernandez-Figueroa twice last season. First by Major Decision (14-6) and again by Major Decision (16-7) at the PAC 12 tournament. Courtney also defeated Cal Poly's Benny Martinez by Tech Fall (23-7 in 7:00) in the ASU vs. Cal Poly dual. Some are saying that Courtney may move up to 133 lbs for 2020-2021. Only time will tell if that is true or not. However according to Arizona State's head coach Courtney will be remaining at 125 lbs while Nick Raimo moves up to 133 lbs. ------------------------------ # 237 Aaron Valenzuela - 2021 RS Freshman (0-5) PAC 12 MATCHES LAST SEASON -- NONE ------------------------------ ============================= 133 lbs # 9 ranked Michael McGee - 2021 RS Junior - Transfer from Old Dominion. 4. Just about ANY match involving Arizona State's Jacori Teemer.
  5. That is about what I made of it as well - which is why I used APPEARS in all caps.
  6. I found this spread sheet of Penn State's wrestlers on "The Wrestling Room" (Penn State fan page) which APPEARS to indicate Richard Figueroa is headed to Penn State (even tho they incorrectly listed him as being from Arizona it seems) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1XYdy4R8y8ZNut76jD1_8Y9Gv3o1cHqu4bIOtR0Vekfo/edit#gid=0
  7. I had both Valencia and Munoz at both 165 and 174 on another post. As I understood Zeke Jones' comments on that 50 minute video those two and Teemer were "working it out" as to who would be where. But thanks for the clarification. I would think the Senior would stay at his weight and the RS Freshman would be the one to drop down. Oh well.
  8. Another great addition for the Sun Devils. Vasquez COULD very well be ASU's starter at 149 lbs for 2021. And he fills one of the two most pressing areas of need for ASU, i.e., 149 and 165. I could easily see Arizona State's 2021 lineup being the following: 125 - Brandon Courtney - 2021 RS Junior - 2020 PAC 12 champion 133 - Michael McGee - 2021 RS Junior - Two-time MAC champion (2018 & 2019) 141 - Julian Chlebove - 2021 RS Freshman 149 - Jesse Vasquez - 2021 True Freshman 157 - Jacori Teemer - 2021 RS Sophomore - 2020 PAC 12 champion 165 - Trey Munoz - 2021 RS Freshman 174 - Anthony Valencia - 2021 RS Senior 184 - Cade Belshay - 2021 RS Junior 197 - Kordell Norfleet - 2021 Senior? or RS Junior? 285 - Cohlton Schultz - 2021 RS Freshman
  9. I agree totally. Back in "my day" a verbal COMMITMENT meant exactly that........a COMMITMENT. Today I think the term should be changed from a Verbal COMMITMENT to a Verbal MAYBE. That, at the very least, would be more accurate in reference to today's youth.
  10. I wouldn't know about Flo as I'll never subscribe to Flo again but he is NOT listed as an ASU commit on Intermat https://intermatwrestle.com/recruiting/commitments?sort=college&sort_dir=up#tab He's also NOT listed as an ASU commit on The Open Mat https://news.theopenmat.com/college-wrestling-commitments Yet, oddly, he IS listed as an ASU commit on PINFALL https://www.pinfallrecruiting.com/commits-male
  11. Verification of McGee transferring to Arizona State: https://twitter.com/mcgeenis1
  12. Actually, in point of fact, he did say "elite" but that was in reference to the TRANSFER. If he said "elite" in reference to new recruits I did not hear that but like others I did not listen to all 50 minutes of the video. If McGee was, in fact, who he was referring to then that would be accurate IMO. McGee is ranked # 6 at 125 lbs by WrestleStat. That's "elite" IMO. However McGee's last 8 matches last season (where he went 8-0) were at 133 lbs.
  13. Thanks for that Idaho. I had not heard anything about that. But it's certainly interesting and I sincerely hope it occurs in the next few years.
  14. What I got out of Zeke Jones' comments about the ASU lineup for next season is the following: 125 lbs - Brandon Courtney stays at 125 lbs and Nick Raimo moves up to 133 lbs. So what happens if Courtney suffers a season ending injury? 133 - Nick Raimo 141 - Chlebove & Belton 149 - Crooks or Chlebove or Belton 157 - Teemer 165 - Valencia or Munoz 174 - Valencia or Munoz 184 - Belshay 197 - Norfleet 285 - Schultz Plus there IS an "elite" transfer coming to Arizona State - who apparently can't yet be mentioned publicly. I have to think this elite transfer is for one of three weight classes - 141, 149 or 165.
  15. THANKS for taking the time to point me (and others) in the right direction to this video.
  16. What I found to be VERY interesting was Zeke's comment regarding Missouri joining the PAC 12. I had not heard ANYTHING about that being a possibility. He mentioned it at about the 30 minutes mark of this video and said "Missouri is a team that we've got on the radar for the PAC 12 comin down the next couple years - joining the Conference - not a done deal again but it's something we're working on"
  17. WHERE can one watch this "zoom town-hall type conference call"? Did he mention Munoz at all?
  18. OF COURSE it's the Group of 5 schools. They are the "D-1" schools that do NOT get hundreds of millions of dollars every year that go to the Monoplistic 5 conference schools thanks to the absurdity in NCAA D-1 football where 95 percent of the bowl game $$$$ goes to the Monopolistic 5 schools and only 5 percent (if it's even that much) goes to the Group of 5 schools - HENCE the letter to the NCAA President.
  19. Trent Knight of Campbell has also entered the NCAA transfer portal - after three of the four coaches at Campbell left to go to Navy.
  20. No idea...............he didn't wrestle at all last season for Little Rock after going 11-4 the year before while being redshirted at Ohio State. Have to assume he must have been injured I guess. Why else would he not have wrestled at all?
  21. I could see all of these freshmen (below) challenging for starting spots on the Little Rock team for 2021 125 lbs - Khyler Brewer and Keegan Slyter 141 lbs - Matt Bianchi and Cade Manion 165 lbs - Cougar Anderson 184 lbs - Brooks Sacharczyk 197 lbs - Zane Davis and Gavin Carter 285 lbs - Josiah Hill
  22. LITTLE ROCK WRESTLING TEAM LINEUP FOR 2020-2021 SEASON All rankings here are via WrestleStat. Returning starters are listed in Bold print. I reviewed their new recruits for 2021 and I see quite a few fairly impressive additions to their team. Namely Brewer, Slyter and Sarpy at 125 (or 133). Matt Bianchi and Cade Manion at 141. Cougar Anderson at 165. Tyler Ross at 174. Sacharczyk at 184. Davis and Carter at 197. Josiah Hill at 285. 23. Nice find - thanks for sharing it here. It's interesting that of the 4 transfers listed for Ohio State three of the four are, or may be, at 285 lbs. One of the three is listed as 197/285.
  24. Was in 2016. It was their 5th straight PAC 12 championship in wrestling in 2016. There were six teams involved (Arizona State, Boise State, CS Bakersfield, Cal Poly, Oregon State & Stanford) Since 2016 Oregon State has done the following at the annual PAC 12 wrestling tournament: 2017 - Oregon State placed 4th as a team behind Arizona State, Stanford and Cal State Bakersfield (same six teams competed as in 2016) 2018 - Oregon State placed 2nd behind Arizona State (five teams competed after Boise State dropped wrestling) 2019 - Oregon State placed 3rd behind Stanford and Arizona State (same five teams competed) 2020 - Oregon State placed 4th behind Arizona State, Stanford and Cal State Bakersfield (six teams competed with the addition of Little Rock)
  25. I just thought it was worth noting because he's from New Mexico and every single guy on the current CSUB roster is from California.
