  1. I forgot my pals who enjoy tippin a few. Here is a thorough map of most of the famous, infamous and discreet gin mills in Manhattan. You can expand most of the map to get info. https://www.google.com/maps/place/McSor ... 72b762b76b
  2. I am not being dismissive of the other places that have hosted recent NCAA wrestling tournament. However, NYC aint Mo. NEB, OKLA or even Philly, Toto. For those who have never been, just walking around and gaping for 3 days is worth the price of transport and rooming. Do this first: try acquainting yourselves with subways and trains into Penn Station where MSG is located they run very frequently from most areas around NYC Staying in NJ near Newark airport or JFK or LGA ( LaGuardia), Brooklyn or Queens is within easy reach. Go here for info, fees and maps: http://web.mta.info/maps/ Just keep in mind that some of the neighborhoods you may go through are places to be alert or in company AND carrying weapons is a Sullivan Law violation mandatory 5 years. It is very strictly enforced Now look this over: http://www.walkingoffthebigapple.com/20 ... marks.html Next take a look at hotels.com to find excellent rates. The site is set up by locales. So, you can figure out routing then do some comparative shopping. If you are a "real hayseed " you can call the site. I have found them helpful, unless they were from out of town. Just say thanks and hang up. You can book in advance up to a year and most have free cancel. If you haven't been to NYC pay up to stay right in Manhattan. Somewhere mid town is best in my opinion. Somewhere between 30th and 50th streets and 5th and 8th avenue if you are bringing the bride, this gets you within an easy safe, walk of shopping, the Theatre districts, Time Sq and many sites plus there are cabs everywhere and the main subway cross overs are there. Regarding renting a car and driving. It is very tough to drive in the combat zone unless you are aggressive alert and have steady nerves. Some of the same qualities you will observe in the medal rounds. Parking is very expensive relative to most cities. Food and drink is about 10% more than in Philly or St Louis. Most of it is taxes which are outrageous. There are many places everywhere that are very inexpensive and have great product. Even most of the hole in the walls have good grub and there is ethnic food from places as diverse as Afghanistan to Zambia. You must Try one of the Jewish delis. Stage Door a couple blocks from MSG at 33rd and 8th is open all day and most of the night. It serves sandwiches of top flight deli as big as your head for $9.95. You can go here to get a handle on prices.http://www.stagedoordeli.com/menus.html...Stage door is not the "best" but is pretty darn good. If you haven't been to NYC pay up to stay right in Manhattan. Don't pay attention to the hysterical "it will be too expensive" PBR crowd. The issue is not expense it is value. New York strip or cube steak boys? Name your poison. BTW Hells kitchen is the old Irish section of NY. For those who like to tip a few, McSorleys Old Ale House at #15 E. 7th St. is the oldest ,1856, Irish continuously operated bar in NYC.

    new rule under consideration

Every official who makes first stall call with less than 15 seconds left in match will be relegated to the pee wee circuit for the Freestyle season.

anyone else think that events shouldn't be

nice peeps in Cedar Falls. tough to get a car.
  7. held in places where the matts are restricted by proximity of tables and walls? It seems that quite a few matches are interfered due to no apron areas. Especially the bigger guys. I think it has affected quite a few matches the past few days. In fact, since the rules were changed to allowing scoring if a finger or toe nail is in bounds this has become an issue quite often. If you have competed , you know the wall can be your friend but it also restricts you especially the danger of running into a wall, table, chairs or other mat side paraphernalia and cutting yourself up or worse. ( The Eastwood movie" $ million Baby" graphically demonstrated how easily bad things can happen) The officials, rightfully, halt action that would continue were the impediments not there. should and could be easily resolved

My faith in Brands is faltering!

Maybe Tommy could take a different team and reload. Lol

anyone else think that events shouldn't be

As you are well aware there is a ton of dead mat time at these events. It would only take some changes in scheduling or splitting into sessions to manage that. I forget the name of the arena where VA duals are held but that set up is great. Not enough seating for NCAAs but plenty of floor space. NCAA could also give up paid seating for press row moving them off floor

What do some people have against Penn State?

Same people hated on Dake and C Metcalf and IA, Even Dan Gable was gleefully poked at when he lost. The Yankees or Cowboys or Bulls or Michael Jordan when they were on a roll were "hated". Failed or mediocre, in their own lives, some people can't stand to see success in others. A major difference today is: the internet has put the moderns at complete exposure from anonymous critics, except those who know how to crack an IP address The guys who write "Down goes XXX" always seem gleeful to me. How about you?

    NWCA vs NCAA

Can anyone in the infrastructure explain how NWCA can run 400 plus (some brackets with pigs have 44 wrestlers) at their event with no byes in the championship bracket and D1 is capped at 330 ?

    NWCA vs NCAA

Wish I was that smart JB Dyslexia makes this difficult Regarding 9.9 comment. Only the morons in charge caouldjustify that when their are 10 wgts. They are pretty much the same types who think 330 is appropriate. I do agree with Gimpelt that we don't want to make the perfect the enemy of the acceptable causing loss of spots. My point was if NCWA can run 44 man brackets in Allen Texas why can't NCAA run 400 plus guys in a "real wrasslin" town. Why does each bracket need to have byes? Why isn't every wrestler in each bracket seeded Does anyone care if one bracket has 44 and another 40 as long as it is an even number and can be run on a 32 man bracket with pigtails? There are 88 eligible wrestlers for "Wild Card spots. Let em all wrestle!! Coons barbecue is a classic example why I want everyone to be able to wrestle. Gets rid of "groan" ups manipulating outcomes. Love to watch the seeding meeting on the hwt cluster mess. Based on fair Gwiz should be the #1 and Coon should be unseeded. In fact if the paradigm followed used throughout all wrestling ,with the exception of D1, were followed,{ lose conference and done} he wouldn't be going at all. Wrestling off for ninth indeed!! Before you all get nuts and huffy, Coon was my pick V Telford for NCAAs finals. Sentiment over reality.

    Stalling

Ramos, Dwieza, Lofthouse, Burat, Telford guys in medal matches scored 12 total pts yeah you IA guys are experts on watching stalling

Does anyone know a NCAA official ?

Actually several officials already on involved here.

    Redefine What Is Control

The absolute last thing we need to do is add any rule or situation where the officials need to interpret anything. The best thing that could happen to the rules and case book would be to get rid of contradictions i.e. locked or clasped hands good sometimes penalized others. Penalizing the wrestler who causes a PD by failing to give way thereby putting himself in danger by awarding the take down or NF. OB is penalized immediately on the defending wrestler, regardless whose body part goes out when. Top must release legs as soon as bottom stands or escape awarded and neutral start. Rules to be enforced IN EVERY CASE. Less rules clearly written. One rule interpreted very badly is the multiple tilt to NF award. Just what constitutes recovery? What exactly is an escape? and at which pt can defense score 1&2 instead of only being given a reversal? i.e. simple resolution. Whenever defense goes from bottom to top in a continuous motion it is 3 pts.

What if: Final NCAA Dual Tournament field...

Sure is sad so many will be given a place. Why have the conferences if there is no consequence to losing by FF or just being out wrestled and no placement by winning reward due to laziness of the seeding process and separation committee.

    Can we stop with.........

This is a parable or an exaggeration to splain how dumb the scoring argument ,so many make, is. Those who p & m about no offense should go watch the PeeWees and Bantams. Two equally matched kids could put up 30 plus pts in 3, one minute periods. Therefore the wrestling is much better than the NCAAs AND it is because the officials make them wrestle and don't call roll through F or PDs I'm going to repeat this whenever this topic comes up.

    Coon goes down again

Bracket em up wrestle em off and the winners move on. Just like it is done in all other folkstyle events.
