About six weeks from now, when folkstyle competition starts back, it always feels like a readjustment.  A big downshift. A loss of momentum. Like when you are driving 75 on the highway and turn off onto a town and now have to stop for traffic lights, signs and pedestrians.

Cradle2grave got a reaction from quanon in Iran-king of the push out
Nearly every coach I've heard stresses maintaining inside head position when you've got an underhook.  It's one of those unquestioned orthodoxies.  The Iranians seem to prefer the head on the opposite side.  Not only are they successful with pushing for the step out point from here, they work some great shots off this position. Taghavi and others hit a great double from there.

Freestyle, absolutely.  Go to the 1:00 mark.  One of Sergei's go-to moves, often off the 2-on-1.  Here it is off single defense like in the Gadson match.

I just don't understand the mentality of those who want to protect the right to flee the mat.  The officials - as a group - appear to be incredibly stubborn about penalizing it.

These obligatory stalling situations (5 second return rule, etc) may have the unintended effect of discouraging officials from calling regular stalling as frequently.

Heavy hands, pushing/shoving, and faking half shots are ways to set up your offense...they are not offense.

Gilman more or less hit a full backarch.  I don't see how this was anything besides an attempt to injure his opponent.  Could have been very serious.  Our sport isn't immune to the concussion problems that now plague football.  This call demands an official statement.

For those who are biased against the pushout because of its' FILA link it should be noted that Real Pro Wrestling - right here in the USA - implemented the pushout in 2004.  FILA was smart enough to adopt it a year later.

It just isn't true that the rule turns neutral wrestling into a Sumo match.  International wrestlers have developed a strong skillset around the edge of the mat.  It is no easy thing to shove an Iranian out of bounds.  You think for sure he is going to get pushed out and he redirects the motion and the other guy goes out.  The safest strategy is just to wrestle in the center.  The pushout works like an electric fence does for livestock.  We need it.
