  1. I like Alex a lot, but in what world is Dieringer a better wrestler than Stieber? Based on what criteria? Up until the semifinals last week I thought that Kokesh was pound for pound a better wrestler than Dieringer. Not sure that Kokesh wouldn't beat him either if they were to wrestle a match today.
  2. With next season being an Olympic year does Snyder and/or possibly Tomasello take an oly redshirt in pursuit of making the freestyle team?
  3. I see. So you want to add another rule to wrestling and eliminate a scoring option in a sport that is already struggling for offensive scoring. A move that has been used for decades with no problems. Are you Jackson Morse's mother or something? Next we can add a rule that says no touching the head to set up a shot because someone might get poked in the eye. This is wrestling dude.
  4. What was he planning on studying in grad school and is he planning on staying at Iowa State as a volunteer? When they showed Kyven's mother during the finals last night they had her listed as Dr. Augusta Gadson. I googled her and found that she had a pretty impressive resume. Dr. Gadson completed a postdoctoral fellowship in health communications at the University of Iowa, where she was also a professor in journalism. While working at theUniversity of Iowa, Dr. Gadson helped to establish a health initiative to serve minority, at-risk and vulnerable populations in collaboration with UI medical and health sciences students and faculty. She holds a Ph.D. from The University of Iowain mass communications with a certificate in aging studies; a Master's of Science in journalism from Iowa State University; and a bachelor's degree in English and mass communications from Alcorn State University.
  5. This isn't high school wrestling, this is D 1 NCAA. Bo also cranks hard on the shoulder with his half nelson when he throws in legs. If a guy doesn't want to have a shoulder strain or a groin pull they need to 1)Not get put in that position and defend the move or 2) Roll over toward his back and give up back points and potentially give up the fall.
  6. Nathan "All I do is Win" Tomasello now has an NCAA title to go along with his 4 state titles, 3 fargo titles, 3 Ironman titles, etc...
  7. Brown deserved to win that match. Why didn't Wilps just drop to a leg and work up like he had been doing the entire time? They weren't going to hit him for stalling again with 3 seconds left
  8. Yes and it should end in early to mid April. I think one of the reasons we see guys not initiating more offense is that the season is soooo long and they're bodies are physically unable to attack nonstop for 7 minutes each match from November through March. Add in that quite a few guys are going into nationals with over 40 matches under their belt and the grind takes its toll. Start the season with Midlands and Scuffle tournaments on Jan. 1 and work around March madness tv coverage by doing nationals in April
  9. Good assessment. Kinda like where the Oklahoma State program is as far as winning team titles, minus the pressure of if you're not first then you're last.
  10. I liked that J'Den showed that he was a true champion and was respectful after both of his losses. He was almost too gracious after losing such big matches, when you put things into perspective it's just a wrestling match and he seems to have his head on straight.
  11. The sign of the creepy mustache
  12. Mike Zadick and Doug Schwab played a big role in those three titles along with the Va Tech transfers. They had no problem getting rid of Zadik when things slowed down. How long do they stay with Ryan Morningstar, Luke Eustice, and Brendan Berhow as the assistant coaches? Bigger question: why are these guys the assistants and not any other hawkeye great or outsiders who have greater college and international credentials? Are they just "Yes Men" for the Brands?
  13. Kosta K spirit guides two buckeye teams to national titles. I love it!!!
  14. About to start poppin bottles! Now I can just sit back and enjoy the finals tonght
  15. Also known as the JD Bergman award
  16. I haven't heard much talk about this match considering it's been hyped up since Cox won the title last year and also considering it had team national title implications. I thought it was a good low scoring match and Cox had his opportunities. I hope that Cox stays at 197 so the rivalry continues, but he looks like he could grow into a decent sized Hvy, especially if he redshirts next season.
  17. Did anybody else catch the segment that Tyron Woodley hosted on NCAAs in St. Louis. It featured good interviews of Jordan Oliver, Dan Gable, college teammates and fellow mma stars Ben Askren, Micheal Chandler, and a former hs teammate Albert Harrold. Great job promoting the sport and its benefits. Bas Rutten said that wrestling was the most important discipline in mma. We need to see more of this type of stuff of tv. I plan on emailing them to thank them and to request more coverage of the sport

  19. The only time I ever saw or heard about Johnny acting out prior to that was him talking trash at the handshake after he lost to Troy Letters. I don't remember him having a rep for being the bad guy though
  20. Best part is the commentary at 4:25 mark following the Tomasello takedown, I was literally lol. "Twirly birds"
  21. This whole Realbuto situation is reminding me of the Hendricks/Churella final in 2006. Both Realbuto and Hendricks wrestled their hearts out and wound up benefiting from some bad reffing to win. Hendricks was suddenly viewed as a villain, which is a title I never thought that he deserved Hendricks did over do the celebration after the match, but in retrospect you can imagine the thrill of coming from behind to win a national title and a team title in front of your home crowd. I've really enjoyed watching has mma career too
  22. Gilman is like a caricature of a Hawkeye wrestler. At least he took that whoopin from Moisey like a man and didn't do any cheap stuff after the fall. I guess that's progress. This can be a very humbling sport
  23. Agree will all except I got Habat at 149 and Gadson at 197
