  1. JH, The Mo vs Ok dual was on Fios in Va at 301 FCS Central if that was what you were referring to.
  2. Personally, I think the concept of a forced national duals tournament is not necessarily a good thing for wrestling. Currently, we have the best teams seeking to wrestle each other throughout the season. Think about some of the great duals we have seen this year. Think about the great duals still to come this year. It has been awesome. What happens when teams are forced to wrestle in one duals tournament that counts above any team event during the season? This makes regular season duals virtually meaningless. What happens to regular season duals attendance? I certainly wouldn’t anticipate it increasing. Coaches are going to protect their wrestlers and sit them much more to be sure and have their strongest team for this one event. Again, this is going to decrease fan support and attendance. The season will come down to basically two dates. That does not appeal to me. I can’t see how this would appeal to any fan of the sport. There is a lot of discussion about how to make wrestling more appealing to a greater fan base. It is my opinion, you do this by creating great rivalries and then compete in one’s home venue or in the rival’s venue. Does anyone really think the atmosphere would be as charged inside of a neutral arena for a PSU vs. IU dual than at CHA or Rec Hall? What happens when the top teams in a given conference wrestle each other during the season when they know they may have to wrestle them again later in the season in a dual that actually counts? Hell, we might not even see the matchups we want if those teams in the National Duals are on opposite sides of the bracket. Quite frankly, I want to see the regular season duals count. Otherwise, we get a watered down version of collegiate wrestling that appeals to virtually no one. It has been interesting how team dual tournaments have seemed to wane over the years. Besides the National Duals Tournament, the Virginia Duals come to mind. It used to be a premier team event. Not so much anymore. Why? I feel it is because we are seeing more and more of the great matchups throughout the regular season and attendance for these dual matchups are on the rise. If the NWCA wants to have a meaningful well attended National Duals Tournament, figure out a way to make the regular season duals relevant. Make the broadcasts of these great rivalry duals available to more viewers. Come up with some new inventive, intelligent and exciting ideas for team and fan support. Don’t force feed a bad plan down everyone’s throat because you can’t get them to participate otherwise. Of course, this is just my opinion so take it fwiw. Cheers.
  3. um, Richards beat Gulibon. Still trying to figure out why it merits a topics headline with such hyperbole... It was in response to the thread titled MEGALUDIS!!!!!!!!! A two time finalist beats a returning NC is something to celebrate. Two redshirt freshman who haven't done squat is not.
  4. I don't know if the Altons will be able to start that early. Not that I have any inside info, however, I am pretty sure they haven't been able to get in the kind of work they need to overcome what has been their biggest shortcoming.
  5. How blown out of proportion can this get? The kid was upset and did something, that in hindsight, he probably regrets. So what. Who hasn't? Jeesh!
  6. No problem with posting one's opinion, but opining on the opinion on multiple boards and threads seems to make people believe there's a bone to pick with either the EIWA ranking folks or ranking folks from other outlets. I've read this no less than three times -- if you're reading it for the first time, you don't understand why it's bothersome. Clearly an agenda reading between the lines (and repetitive threads). With all due respect...you've got to be f'ing kidding me. And you had no problem with 57000 repetitive threads on Metcalf, Taylor, Dake, etc.? Who's got the agenda?
  7. Stove_Pipe I agree. If a kid is not enrolled in college, he shouldn't be ranked. At the very least, there should be an asterisk. I'm not sure why someone would have a problem with you posting your opinion about this here.
  8. Ashtin Primus is still wrestling? It seems as if he has been around forever.
  9. When I got my tickets last week there were still a fair number of tickets available. However, sec. 103 and 104, closest to center mat on the near side, were not available (reserved). I assumed they were being saved for family, coaches, VIP, etc.
  10. You know, since these guys were little, they always seemed to step up and challenge themselves to wrestle the very best. In sport, there never seems to be enough of this attitude. Whether it's the coaches or the athletes avoiding competition to protect their records or reputations. Win or lose, both these kids deserve credit. Regarding wrestling the match at 165, Taylor is probably pretty close to weight at 165 normally and Dake is kinda big for 157 normally. My guess is at this early point in the season, it's easier and makes more sense for Dake to wrestle up and not have to cut the weight. But that is just my uneducated guess. My wife and I got our tickets last night. We can't wait for this and the other matches as well. What a great way to kick off the season. Cheers.
