  1. NJ is everyone's little annoying brother who first discovered the cologne and hair-gel aisle.

    PA

    OH

    CA

PA was down a little at the HS level this year though depth wise

I would honestly go 1. PA - 2. Oh - 3. NJ - 4. Cali - 5. Ill,   although the 5 spot is always up for grabs, I give Ill props for their fs and Greco success.

  2. I believe NJ has 4-5 HS kids ranked first in nation.

One of them will be beating a 4x Pa state champ this weekend.

Except when he loses.  But really nothing to be ashamed of, and even the loss at 138 was respectable.  But NJ is good.  Honestly I would rank them #3 state in the country for high school.  But, there is the Blair thing.  Some of those kids are from NJ, some aren't, so I'm never quite sure how to evaluate them and if you take Blair out of NJ, still not bad but a lot of quality gone off the top.  Just keep wrestling.

  3. Not true. Lost his first dual, but his open tournament bouts count as official matches. Hall was 8-0 when he lost to Christian Brucki by a score of 8-7.

when they announced his redshirt was coming off, he lost that match.  However it works prior to that is all well and fine, but he lost at Iowa to Alex Myers right after it was announced that he was officially in.

  4. I say it’s a three way race for the title with PSU, Iowa and tOSU. As always bonus points will be huge which Iowa proved they can walk the walk this year.

Okst could fight their way in there depending on what team shows up to nationals this year.

PSU loses a big hammer but reloads with blue chip talent and has improvements coming in as well.

Until further notice, PSU is the team to beat but I think Iowa can make it a fight.

As long as Iowa keeps recruiting the PA kids they'll be competitive.

  5. Ok, I've read the post and it seems like there are a lot of competing interests here.  As a PA guy, let me give you my perspective.  We've been watching Spencer Lee here for the last 4 years and we know how good he is.  (Yes he lost in the PA state finals last year to Desanto, but that was due to injury and bad coaching).   It was disappointing to see him go to Iowa, because he would have filled a hole in the PSU line-up commensurate for that team.   But he's got to do what he's got to do so its ok.  Of course he came in and dominated the way we expected him too, maybe even better and I'm sure he's content with his performance and also not concerned about the OW.  He'll have opportunities to get one, or more, of those.  Bo Nickal, while not a PA kid, has been great at Penn State.  And being in a position to either win or lose your team the national title is a huge pressure spot.  He answered the call with flying colors.  He was truly Outstanding.  So to the victors go the spoils, congratulations on a well deserved award.

  6. We're talking about 2 kids from PA in the finals.  Nolf was a 3x PA champ and Hidlay a one timer.  I think the lesson here is if you want your kid to have success in D1 wrestling, then you should move to PA after 8th grade.  I think Hidlay's younger brother will be even better.
