I don't see a way to search by sport on the btn.com site this year anymore but luckly BTN itself put together the aggregated 2019-2020 schedule.
    Let the fun begin!

judaspriest got a reaction from jchapman in The 2018 WC website is useless
I am sure Budapest is a great host city for a World Championship (and they seem to host it not infrequently) and the city and the people are great.
However, I find the dedicated website completely useless. Besides having some rudimentary info about every member of their country's wrestling teams and the general schedule and ticket buying info, it has very little useful content. I cannot believe well into the 21st century a website about a 9-day World Championship does not have any results, medal counts or live updates! The news section is a bunch of useful anecdotes, mostly centered around the home team or the venue. No link to the individual countries' wrestling federations. No stats. Not even talking about the "best move of the day", "biggest upsets" or anything else a tad more advanced, but even the basic updates... Nothing!

You are almost right - he did win 7:0 in the finals but the Russian scored all of 1 point against him (one and only point against him at that Olympics)

Haha, thanks Idaho - I'll keep that as a great backup option if I can't find the original video.
TheOhioState, please let me know (send a msg) if you find it. Will gladly trade.
KTG119, ideamark no longer trades unfortunately.

judaspriest got a reaction from HurricaneWrestling in Does anyone have a copy of Paul Jenn's win over Cael Sanderson video?
Wow, lot's of replies... but still nobody with a video yet, unfortunately (to answer Plasmodium's question). I am assuming TBar1977 you saw it live rather than in a recording so we don't even know if anyone has recorded it.

Not sure I get denny's point about negativity either - the video is a curio specifically because of Cael's success, not a means of knocking him down in any way.

    RIP Paul Jenn indeed.

Booing should be reserved for someone doing something wrong (official, coach or the wrestler). A fair and square win is a win and should never be booed even if you wanted the opposite outcome.

And while on the subject of booing and cheering, I was disgusted with the Minnesota fans who were cheering when Stoll got hurt. Iowa vs. Minnesota have a long history (which I always enjoyed) but even if you root against Iowa, cheering when someone gets hurt should be beneath those who truly love our sport.

    Dear fellow wrestling fans,

At a risk of being compared to a broken record, I would like to ask as many of wrestling fans as possible to contact ESPN with feedback regarding their coverage, something I do every year after the journey is over.

Personally, I very much enjoyed the coverage overall. There are always some minor improvements that can be made and some small pet peeves that all of us have regarding the coverage. The important thing is that just a few years prior to when I started watching the NCAAs, we had a 30-min highlight of the finals on CBS. We now see a sizable sample of the early round matches and medal rounds as well as all matches in the championship bracket from the semis on and even some repeat broadcasts. In addition, ESPN360 allows you to view every single match. This is unbelievable progress.

What is needed now is to keep the pressure on ESPN to let them know that we greatly appreciate the coverage of our sport as well as that there is a lot of us and we don't want the coverage to ever go away.

Please find a couple of minutes to provide your (overall positive, I hope) feedback to ESPN and if you criticize, please be constructive. We already get 90% of what we want and we absolutely want to keep it!!

Here is their feedback form as their phone is 888-549-3776 in case you prefer calling.

Oh and BTN, while at it, is here. Less impressed with them this year (poor choice of duals and fewer of them) but still a great coverage to have.

    Thanks,

judaspriest got a reaction from Yellow_Medal in 10 years until the next 4x NCAA CHAMP
I would say the biggest danger to Martinez on the way to become the 5th 4x is injury. If he is healthy, I would say he has a decent chance.

Staying unbeaten is another level of difficulty altogether.

The other freshman champ, Tomasello, is not nearly as likely to become a 4x-er. 125 is a weight where hardly anyone can stay on top for too long (has there been a 3x-er at that weight in the last 20-30 years? I can't recall one) and Tomasello's margin of victory was much slimmer.

I'd (highly unscientifically) say we have a 1 in 2 shot in Martinez.

judaspriest got a reaction from HuskyHero133 in Let's thank ESPN for coverage - they need to know how much we want it
Yes, yes, as every year, I would like to encourage everyone who cares about college wrestling getting good coverage on TV to let ESPN know how much like enjoyed it. Please do so *in numbers* (as that's what's networks are known to care about.

As always, there are a few minor pet peeves that all of us have but they are incredibly minor compared to the dominantly important issue - coverage amount. From that point of view, I don't believe we can ask for much more. ESPN3 covered it all and the highlighted matches from all sessions were on ESPN(U).

Fantastic coverage, IMHO. Please take 5 mins to let ESPN know (here is the form for ESPN / ESPN3) that you appreciate it and want to see at least as much next year!!

judaspriest got a reaction from Cletus_Tucker in How about Edinboro?
I think it's important not to lose the sense of proportion.

The expectations have to be high but they have to have some connection to reality. I don't have the stats in front of me, but would be this is near damn highest finish Edinboro has ever had.

Iowa has won (and, I hope, will win) quite a number of NCAA titles and attracts far greater talent and money and has an incomparably greater recruiting reach and likely financing than Edinboro.

Finishing 3rd in the NCAAs ahead of Penn State, Okalhoma State and such and nearly catching up Iowa is an incredibly good outcome for Edinboro by any (sane) measure.

judaspriest got a reaction from HuskyHero133 in ESPN rocks! Let's make sure they hear from wrestling fans
This is fantastic - ESPN has expanded its wrestling coverage yet again this year, bringing the championship 1 step closer to those of us who cannot attend in person. They are now going to cover even the first round!

I know a bunch of us will always succeed at little knit-picking in terms of the content of the coverage and that is fine, but the most important thing is that we have the coverage itself.

As every year, lets ALL make it known to them that we appreciate the coverage. This is the first year in a bunch when I can't really push the "give us more coverage" envelope much further - they are finally covering every round.

Let's thank ESPN for the coverage and make their response counters go nuts from wrestling fans overwhelming support. That will ensure the future coverage amounts for all of us.

Here is the link to contact them (I just did).

PS. BTN coverage sucked this year and was markedly worse than last year's. Worth letting them know too (here)
