I can get logged in fine but when clicking on the link for the dual it loads an add and then gives a connection error in bottom right hand corner of menu at bottom.

This.... more than anything else I continue to learn about wrestling... this!

Hard to believe how varied and well executed the techniques the Russians use are.  We would say all the time that you can't hit a fireman's or carry at the upper levels.  I think we say this because we never see it at the NCAA's... I am beginning to think that this is just a self-creating prophecy.  We don't spend time teching / practicing the techniques because we don't think they will work... and what do you know, they don't!

I have just watched yet another Russian execute a carry for 4 points in the finals at 65 kilo's.  Gosh they are so entertaining to watch and they beat folks with things we would traditionally say they shouldn't be able to do against wrestlers at that level.

It looked to me like Jake had no idea how to clear and control the "bulldog" tie up he kept finding himself in.  I was a little surprised he didn't get flying lessons from standing upright while completely controlled in that tie up situation.  I never thought I'd say this, but God Bless Russia for preserving the interesting aspects of our sport!  Although I must admit it's confusing to see them  keep executing beautiful technical takedowns to both sides of the body and good high low offense.  I just know that can't be done in this "new era" of wrestling.  I've seen them hitting the dreaded..."can't be done against guys at this level", techniques so long I might start believing you can do a carry at the elite level.    Phish, that would just be silly.

    Brackets are out for tomorrow...

Kennedy is in the larger bottom half of his bracket... start off with Kaliyeu (BLR) and would likely see Aliyev (AZE) in round of 16.  Seems like a tough draw there.  If he survives there his quarter doesn't look as bad.  Of course then you have Bogomoev (RUS) in the semi's.  Honestly though when you look at the top half it is easy to see just how freaking loaded this weight is.

Metcalf has Mohammadi (IRI) on his side but wouldn't be until the semi's.  Likely quarter with Muslimov (AZE) I would think, which we know is beatable but makes me nervous.  He starts with KOR and would then get the winner of Kaya (TUR) (who I think is the Turk Pico wrestled) and Kim (PRK).  Brent needs to get that first round hurdle off his back and then go to work.  He knows he can beat anyone on his side.  All of that is in the bottom half.  Top half has some US interest with Franklin Gomez representing Puerto Rico and Boris Novachkov representing Bulgaria.  Russian and Armenian hammers up there too.

First thing I noticed was potential for a Burroughs vs Tsargush (RUS) semi-final.  I would imagine he sees Kurbanov (UZB) in the quarters.  Theoretically looks like biggest challenges are on his side but can't overlook anyone up there.

Looking at Varner's weight... Gadisov (RUS) and Yazdani (IRI) are in the top half but wouldn't meet until semi's.  Varner in what I would think it is a relatively clear quarter on the bottom half... decent separation as he wouldn't meet Gazyumov (AZE) until the semi's.  I think many have stated they thought Gazyumov was his most favorable match-up out of the big three but I could be wrong.
