Broomstick got a reaction from Relentless125 in Ben Askren to box YouTube celeb in March
A little less than 2 years ago, Ben Askren got picked up and dropped on his head by Robbie Lawler, and Lawler then proceeded to unload on Askren with everything he had for 30 to 45 seconds.  Ben composed himself, got up and proceeded to choke Lawler out a few minutes later.
People think getting hit by a youtuber is going to affect Ben?  And some think he is going to get knocked out?  Not a chance.  That is seriously underestimating the toughness he developed as a world class athlete for 15+ years.
Ben's striking was horrendous during his UFC stint (and marginally better earlier), but I assume he is going to improve at least some as he focuses his training for this fight.  Ben predicts he will win by TKO in the 7th round because he will wear Paul out.  That sounds about right to be, but I predict a round or a few earlier.

Had Fried wrestled in 93, he would of won at 142 and Lincoln Mac would only be a 2 time champ.  This is well understood by all Iowa fans.

More than 90%.  Kemp's reemergence in recent years, including on social media, shows he was living in world where aging did not occur for the 15 or so years he was disconnected from wrestling.

I picked out the exact same schools, plus Pitt.  However, I think there will be some complete surprises with schools that 6 months ago we thought never would be cut end up getting the hatchet.  Maybe like an OU or Wisconsin.  Sure hope not but think really only about 6 to 10 schools are "100% safe."

David Taylor never has a chance to claim the hypothetical P4P best as long as Dake is still competing.  No matter where they are at in their respective careers, Dake owns him.  I have come to accept this after years of denial.

Well they postponed or canceled the NBA, NHL and MLB.  How is P5 football anymore likely to move forward without fans than those were/are?

Broomstick reacted to Peso in Lee Kemp
I just finished watching "Wrestled Away, the Lee Kemp Story" on Amazon Prime.  If you grew up during that time, I think you will enjoy it.  I know I did.  I've met Mr Kemp once shortly after he came from behind at the buzzer to defeat my team mate Paul Martin in Stillwater.  It was the disco era so a few guys from the team took a couple of the badgers down to the local place to dance, after the dual.  I'm sure he wouldn't remember me, but I was one of the guys that pointed him toward the dance floor.  I finished the video believing what I had thought since my first time I saw him live and shook his hand and met him.  He is truly the kind of man that I believe we should all aspire to be.  The class and dignity he exhibits in this movie is subtle, but it sure didn't go past me.  I wrestled in his bracket at the 76 Olympic Trials in Cleveland.  I was not even close to a factor, but a guy named Joe Wells pummeled me to within an inch of my life and Joe was 4th at the weight, behind Dziedzic, Schalles and Kemp.   Lee and Jimmy Jackson were the two college champs from that year who finished in the top 4.  Kudos to you Mr Lee Kemp.  I've been around a lot of great wrestlers, and they are often, but not always great men too.  You sir are the Gold Standard as far as I'm concerned.  Lee if you read this I was the guy in Cleveland yelling "don't grab Schalles leg!"  If you were there, you would understand.  :--)

Would either Steiber or Jaggers likely do better financially with the Campbell job than they are doing now?  I would think they do well in their current situations, with camps supplementing their respective primary income sources.  I guess they both need to start somewhere for their first HC job but for Jaggers I imagined it would be a higher profile school given his experience and relatively high profile at tOSU.

This has probably been done before but perhaps the passage of time would make any old thread out-of-date.  Based solely on college results, list the 10 best wrestlers "from each state" meaning attended all 4 years of high school in the state.  I will start with Ohio, naming the best college wrestlers (from any college) who attended all 4 years of high school in Ohio.
    1.  Logan Stieber - 4 time Div. 1 Champ.  Really no choice but to put him first given the 4 titles.
    2.  Lee Kemp - 3 time Div. 1 Champ, 1 time runner up.  Even though Steiber has one more title, there are strong arguments Kemp should be #1 given that his loss freshman year in the finals was somewhat controversial and he did not lose another college match thereafter.  Still, I'm going with Steiber over Kemp based on  the simple concept of 4>3.  Others may disagree.
Does any other state have a better top 2?
    3.  David Taylor - 2 time Div. 1 Champ, 2 time runner up.  This was the easiest placement for the list.  Taylor's level of dominance throughout his collegiate career puts him a level (or 2) above Ohio's other 2 time champs and, in my opinion, he has to be below Steiber and Kemp based on number of titles.
Does any other state have a better top 3?
    4.  Kevin Randleman - 2 time Div. 1 Champ, 1 time runner up.  Only 3 years of competition due to "foregoing" his senior year.  Some may say this placement is controversial since there are 4 time AAs below but there is nobody on this list who was more intimidating than "the Monster".
    5.  Tommy Rowlands - 2 time Div. 1 Champ, 4 time AA.  The greatness of the HWY weight class during his years justifies him being above some others.
    6.  Ryan Bertin - 2 time Div. 1 Champ, 4 time AA.  For various reasons, I never saw many of his matches.  My loss.
    7. Alan Fried - 1 time Div. 1 Champ, 2 time runner up.  Only 3 years of competition due to Oklahoma State sanctions his junior year and his two runner ups were losses to Tom Brands (as were 5 of his 6 losses in college).  Like Randleman, although he ended up with less titles or AAs than some below him on the list, the "eye test" justifies his higher placement.
    8.  Markus Mollica - 2 time Div 1 Champ, 4 time AA.  An knee injury one year may have prevented a 3rd title.
    9.  Jim Jordan - 2 time Div. 1 Champ, 3 time AA.  The fact his first championship came via a win over John Smith causes me to put him above some of the other 2 time champs.
    10.  J. Jaggers - 2 time Div. 1 Champ, 3 time AA.  For various reasons, I saw so many of his matches and what a treat that was.  His two titles were filled with exciting matches in the tournament, the 2nd of which I was able to attend in St. Louis.
    11.  Dean Heil - 2 time Div. 1 Champ, 3 time AA.  I imagine some will argue he should be at #8 or 9, which may be correct.  Who knows, if he was not hampered by injury his senior year and wins another title, he is solidly in the top 3 or 4. (I had him at 10 but then remembered I left Mollica off the list when I first submitted)

Yep, I did the initial list off the top of my head.  Forgot Pat Milkovich who I would slot into about the middle of the top 10.  I would include Dan St. John in the 9 or 10 spot too after thinking about it more.
