  1. NCAA Wrestling needs to address the stalling that is going on....particularly in the top position. Is the purpose of the top position just to hold the guy ....or to turn/score? Guys are continually allowed to remain parallel, hook the ankle (RBY), and chop out arms just to keep the guy from standing. This equals no scoring/less action. The NCAA should look at athletes who had the most riding time in the tournament and how many turns they had. Aside from Spencer Lee - I think we have a problem. Refs obviously need direction/guidance on how to officiate in this situation!
  2. Do 5 point moves exist in freestyle anymore? I was under the impression that a 4 point move is the highest single move score that can be awarded.
  3. https://intermatwrestle.com/articles/23532 I believe he was also a member of these forums. Sad to hear.
  4. No one is saying that Eastern States is at the level of Beast, Ironman, or Powerade. But it is a great tournament...and good enough for Wyoming Seminary to attend. The top 3 placers at Eastern States would certainly be all that Clovis (or any team) could handle.
  5. Mitch Clark. If you've ever had the opportunity to attend one of his boot camps....you'd be amazed at his system and how many little details make everything work.
  6. This year more than ever I have seen top wrestlers hooking the ankle and extending themselves to keep the bottom man from being able to work up. This to me IS STALLING. In this situation the top guy is not working to turn/score points...he is only looking to ride out. Yes, they are somewhat off the side...however, again, there is no effort to turn/score. PSU is guilty....Iowa is guilty...and on and on and on. What is interesting is that the bottom man is often hit for stalling because he is not able to work up to a base/quad-pod/standup. This is an area that needs serious looking at in my opinion.
  7. I recently purchased this for my high school son after coming back from a concussion. So far it has been great in regard to fit and staying put on his head (significantly better than the LDR headgear in this regard); It's got a great tightening feature once you have it on your head..but you need someone to do it for you. As far as concussion prevention....it has got to be better than just regular head-gear. I'm happy with the purchase so far.
  8. YouTubeTV is the BEST !!! Less expensive than cable and soooo much better of a product. And they have Big10 and ESPN's
  9. Anyone have any feedback on the Kolat Camps at Campbell ? Considering sending some guys out there this summer; It would require a flight, so I'm looking to hear any opinions/experiences/etc.
  10. Yes. I think within the next few years his club will be a national power-house. His energy and passion (let alone his technical knowledge) is tough to match.
  11. Cooperman just opened up his own club in Mahwah, NJ.............CoopTrained. Coaches include Cooperman, Austin Schafer (Oklahoma St), and Nick Gravina (Rutgers).
  12. That is by far the worst one. It is even more pathetic that the judges are such a $hitshow.
  13. Definitely a terrible call. I saw it either 2-0 Novachkov or at best 2-2 (if you believe they didn't go out of bounds after the initial exposure). Romanov initiated move.....Novachkov countered/changed direction and exposed. Terrible.
  14. Terrible call by the head ref. As a referee at the highest level, you have to be willing to acknowledge your mistakes and he clearly has his ego leading the way. Unfortunate for the Iranian.
  15. Agreed ! He is definitely one of the PSU all time greats....Which is easy to forget about given all the recent success.
  16. Ryder is definitely a great up and comer. I don't think he will see anywhere near 106 again...word is he is weighing well into the 130's right now.
  17. Seriously.....Ramos is an embarrassment? What?! You should be embarrassed for writing that. He has the attitude that he is the best...well because that is the attitude you should have when you are trying to win a world and olympic championship. Should he believe that he is less than the rest on that level? He was questioning that he got exposure for two in that scramble. They challenged and the refs were denying the challenge. He was advocating for himself. Coaches are not allowed on the mat at that time. Granted the challenge was denied...but I'm not sure where you think he was being classless. Sounds like you have your own set of issues with him. That's ok. I'm pretty sure he will continue being the best guy in our country and do his best to win world titles.
  18. Wow. Fantastic match. I think JB has more of an edge...because he knows how close DT is to him. I say DT takes the next match. Despite the loss...he's in JB's head!
  19. I like JB a lot. But I also got the impression of him being a bit more cocky than in the past. Not to say he does not have the right to be - maybe that is the attitude necessary to maintain greatness at that level.
  20. Phenomenal match. I really thought Taylor had him. It looks like in that 2nd period he stepped off the gas pedal a few times....and JB did what JB does. However, this is a clear sign that DT is VERY capable of beating JB.
  21. Many people tend to consider Metcalf as 'old;' However, in my opinion, I think he is just beginning to hit his stride in Freestyle. I would not be surprised to see him getting a couple of world medals and finishing off his career with an olympic medal. By the way, I don't even think he's thirty yet.
  22. Yup! great match...great ending. Beautiful 4 point throw.
