preceptor got a reaction from tigerfan9311 in Who are some exciting dark horses to look out for next season?
Colby Smith 125 Mizzou will be a tough matchup for about anyone. Has some quality wins at 133 and will be a big 125.

JMO. If a wrestler does not actually compete in their qualifying event then they should not qualify for nationals.

preceptor got a reaction from jcjcjc in Who could have beaten Cael in college?
I made the list. I remember losing to him and throwing temper tantrum. I was a bit of a brawler and he majored me and I didn't even feel like I'd wrestled a match. I was a sophomore and I told my coach I couldn't believe I lost to a freshman. My coach told me that, that freshman is pretty good.

preceptor got a reaction from hammerlockthree in Is Chris Pendleton the GOAT of college wrestling?
If there were no Pendleton would Ben Askren be the GOAT?

preceptor got a reaction from Cletus_Tucker in The GOAT High School Wrestler (highlights)
I disagree with the assumption that an undefeated wrestler is always better than a wrestler with a few losses. I also would not always say a 3x NCAA Champion is better than a 2x NCAA Champion. More credentialed, yes. Not necessarily a better wrestler.

preceptor got a reaction from ltp280 in US open
If they called the last two points a "correct throw" then that is the way the rules read. Like it or not. He attempted a throw, elevated his opponents hips but doe to his opponent adjusting he did not expose. That's the way the rule has been explained to me. I'm assuming that rule will change after this tournament. Maybe one point for it but not two. Two points doesn't make sense. Either way, Oliver won by the rules for this tournament. Who knows what happens tomorrow or at WTT.

preceptor reacted to Billyhoyle in Edit: Dresser takes the ISU job (unconfirmed)...
I'm not convinced this is happening yet, but I don't see why it is so surprising. VT is a top five program largely because of Dresser, so he probably thinks he can do the same or better at ISU. Also, it didn't make sense to me for ISU to get rid of Kevin Jackson just to go and hire Bono or Paulson.

preceptor got a reaction from silver-medal in Storniolo idea on mini-tournaments
In my opinion, the only way to grow the sport is to foster methods that support the idea of supporting programs. If you look at the successful sports it's about team support not individual support. We have to find ways to get people to support programs. If I only follow an individual athlete then I'm only interested in four years. We need to generate fans of programs. Individual sports will always be fringe sports.

preceptor got a reaction from PapaBearSLIM in Mn vs Mizzou
I thought about that but did not want to be called a homer.

preceptor got a reaction from GranbyTroll in the "Stay-on-the-Mat-Rule"
In reference to the heavyweights, I would rather see someone win 6-1 with four pushout points than a 2-1 match with them going out of bounds ten times. Or standing in the middle doing nothing. The more points on the board the better.
