  1. They don't do wrestle offs per se. The coaches get an idea from practice and then the early opens like the Daktronics help settle lineup questions. 165 and 197 seem like the biggest questions, at least in my mind.
  2. I see now why the buckeyes recruited Kerkvliet.
  3. Article about Sean Russell and his transfer to the University of Minnesota. http://intermatwrestle.com/articles/20613
  4. CK is not worn down from years of youth wrestling. Miron has trained him well as was evident at WNO. Minnesota is the place to be.
  5. I agree with this. If seeds upset someone, they should just think of it as a means of separation of the best wresters. This is it's purpose. Don't look at it as some sort of honor or award.
  6. Johnny, Good blog! You missed one from 1988. Pat Johannes, NDSU was 7th at 177. His teammate Matt Palmer also won a couple matches at 190 that year.
  7. More information about the Gopher Wrestling Gala. This is a fund raiser for improving wrestling facilities including a renovated locker room. https://www.mygophersports.com/Online/default.asp?BOparam::WScontent::loadArticle::permalink=wrestling-gala18&BOparam::WScontent::loadArticle::context_id=
  8. About like OJ's search for Nicole's killer.
  9. It's amazing how much bigger people have gotten in 100 years. Hwt is over 175 lbs. Hard to imagine someone weighing in the 170's wrestling a modern Hwt.
  10. Looking forward to the season. A couple of thoughts...Of the 4 guys moving up, I think McKee will benefit the most. I think Lizak will benefit physically also, but he is moving to a tougher weight, so it will be interesting. Webster did not wrestle at all second semester due to injury, so that's why he didn't qualify. They will have a very well balanced lineup and be a good dual team, but will need some that have not AA'd yet to step up and do so if they are going to be top 5.
  11. Seems like it was a combination of different philosophy of how practices were run, combined with a physical altercation with another staff member.
  12. Plus Jden could train athletes to sweat profusely when needed.
  13. Minnesota also has two time U23 world team member, Mitch McKee, who would be in his prime in 2024 @ 65 kg.
  14. Yikes, can you imagine them after a few shots. Probably pick a fight with a tree.
  15. These might clear things up, or not. https://cdn.ymaws.com/www.nhsca.com/resource/resmgr/2018_nd_pools_day_2/2018_nd_day_3/wave_1_hs.pdf http://teamduals.gimpsoftware.com/2018__NHSCADuals_HS_10.htm
  16. Eggum working the free agent market to go along with a great draft.
  17. Skatzka had been pretty solid but not spectacular his first two years. Had a bad NCAA tournament last year.
  18. Garrett Lowney won a bronze in Greco at the 2000 Olympics before ever starting for the Gophers (redshirted behind Brock Lesnar). Jake Deitchler made the Greco team in 2008, the summer after graduating high school.
  19. Finn Cole (Peaky Blinders) Spencer Lee
  20. Austin Emerson out of Michigan seems to be their hwt recruit. Agree that 20 at 160 is way low for Robb.
  21. Coach Eggum talks about coaching changes and recruits. http://kstp.com/sports/eggum-eager-for-next-gophers-wrestling-season/4896610/?cat=81
