lol I refuse to go above good. I would say great if he showed something more in the bronze match. We have seen wrestlers his age (or even younger) do more at better tournaments. Asgarov, Chamizo, Sadulaev, Otoguro come to mind. Wrestfan only said he only did OK anyway so be happy with good lol.

Amouzad wins bronze with a 4 - 0 over Andreyeu. His problem right now at this young age is against top guys he can control long portions of the match but has a hard time scoring. We saw that against Uguev and in his bronze match.

Overall a strong performance, in a sense you could say he already has a better career than Atri (Atri failed at junior worlds, U23 worlds and three times at senior worlds) lol. The most impressive thing about Amouzad this tournament actually might be that Uguev couldn't turn him, because he destroyed everyone else on top.

I think Bajrang is a step behind the true gold medal calibre 65kg guys. The last time he wrestled Otoguro it was not close.

I do hope the best for Rashidov's recovery - I hate to see injuries derail any wrestlers chances.  However Russia is very deep and has a lot of good options at that weight.  Chakaev is very good, Baev or other good guys could cut down from 70kg.  They still have Soslan Ramonov who seems to be retired but is only 29 - if you don't remember how great he was just rewatch his 2016 Olympic matches.  It will be interesting to see who emerges.

You are right about Tevanyan - when he cut loose it was impressive. I wish there was a way to see some of the earlier round matches in the World Cup.  All I got to see were the medal matches shown on the Olympic Channel.

I think Karimi ends up flying under the radar from running into Sadulaev and Cox, and now being behind Yazdani. He's has been to six straight age or senior level championships coming home with 4 medals.  His losses in those tournaments break down as one to Sadulaev, three to Cox, and one thrown match where he was leading.  He has solid wins in there as well.

Uh I’m pretty sure you have to be signed to the UFC to win a championship before the year end.  Let along the fact you usually need to be ranked in the UFC and have a pretty good win streak to get a belt shot.  So no I don’t think he will be the UFC champ by the end of the year and probably not even in the company by that date.

Let me spell out my point.  If the health of athletes was of paramount importance they would not have held a super-spreader event like nationals.  To host nationals and then come back and say Worlds is too big a risk is specious reasoning.

Thank you.  You get it.  And allow me to clarify--"potential" super-spreader.  Look in my above post; I asked if there had been some outbreak of cases to justify the sudden announcement to abandon worlds. They knew they weren't going to send a team but held nationals (and other events) anyways.

the boogie bug is just that...
if the health and safety of athletes was the real concern USAW would not have had nationals... or their National duals last week... or pre- season nationals next week... or any of the other tournaments they have hosted or sanctioned in the last couple of months or in the upcoming months...

Of course I see the difference, which makes the decision to host nationals in a country where cases are surging even more nonsensical.  Completely inconsistent. If prudence, safety driven caution, and the health of athletes were of paramount importance nationals would not have been held.  And I still believe this decision was made long before it was announced and our best wrestlers were privy to that decision.

    Who will be watching?

Links can be found on the youtube channel below; although, many of you are in the USA, and will begin a little early/late:
    https://www.youtube.com/user/WrestRusRu
Some of the bigger names competing:
57kg:  Zaur Uguev, Azamat Tuskaev, Ramiz Gamzatov, Akhmed Idrisov
    61kg:  Aleksandr Bogomoev, Ramazan Ferzaliev
65kg:  Gazdhimurat Rashidov, Soslan Ramonov, Nachyyn Kuular, Akhmed Chakaev
70kg:  David Baev, Israil Kasumov, Magomedrasul Idrisov, Kurban Shiraev (Idrisov and Shiraev moved up to 70)
74kg:  Zaurbek Sidakov, Magomedrasul Gazimagomedov, Magomed Kurbanaliev, Razambek Zhamalov
    79kg: Akhmed Gazhimagomedov, Gadzhi Nabiev
86kg:  Artur Naifonov, Dauren Kurugliev, Magomed Ramazanov, Radik Valiev
    92kg:  Alikhan Zhabrailov
97kg:  Abdulrashid Sadulaev, Shamil Musaev, Magomedkhan Magomedov
125kg:  Anzor Khizriev, Zelimkhan Khizriev, Alan Khugaev, Baldan Tsyzhipov

I think the National winners will look very similar to the 2019 squad: Uguev, Bogomoev, Rashidov, Baev (or Shiraev), Sidakov, Gadzhimagomedov, Naifonov, Zhabrailov, Sadulaev and A. Khizriev.

But the Olympic weight classes are the ones that matter here.  Would have been nice to see Baev go to 65 or 74, Gadzhimagomedov to 86.  Should be good!
