  1. What's the backstory here? I know nothing.

Some people in the LV did not appreciate the fact that Bethlehem Catholic had kids from various areas including NJ on their team yet were allowed to compete with the public schools. I don't agree with how some "adults" handled it as the Becahi kids are good kids but I understand their frustration. I'll leave it at that as this thread celebrates a great kid.

  2. Remember Coleman Scott and Jordan Oliver also made huge weight cuts their freshmen year with not so great results that first year so this is not something new. Oliver did finish 4th but was not very aggressive that year.  They seemed to recover so let's give this some time and see how it plays out.

  3. LOVED not hearing Iowa and Penn St come out of his mouth. Again, he is only a sophomore and has plenty of time and recruiting to change his mind. Do you guys think he will be a 174 or 184 pounder in college?

    He's only a sophomore?

Yes, did 7th grade in Kentucky and I think when he transferred to Apple Valley came in as a 7th grader.

  4. I was stunned when I heard the news of his passing. I had met Jay a number of times and really enjoyed speaking with him as he brought so much knowledge and passion. I remember sharing a ride with him on a shuttle from the airport one year during the NCAAs. He remembered me and we talked about his site and how he wanted to expand it. Back then it did not have all the conference tourneys or other portions. I will miss him and agree there should be some mention during the NCAAs this year.

RIP Jay you will be missed friend.

  5. While I have not posted on this forum in the longest time, I do still follow the threads and felt the need to respond. I think you make a very good point and thanks for posting. I personally cannot say I've carried the banner of total wrestling fandom, however I have such a love for the sport I tend to follow most levels at least at a minimum. I stay on top of Div I action and results. Now that my school has returned to Div III status I keep up with their action and attend matches when they are close. I live in VA and have no real family roots here, but have attended a few duals for VA Tech, George Mason, American, and Maryland. At the high school level I've been known to attend random duals along with the post season events even when I don't know anyone there. I guess for me it's just a habit to attend meets.

I will also take your call to action and catch more events this year and thanks again for posting.

  7. This will be 11 for me and 11 in a row. I have no intentions of ever missing one regardless of location.

I'm with you on that. I know it's probably not the smartest thing to say but I was on a job interview and somehow the conversation turned to wrestling. I told him, I'll get whatever we need to do done, but I'm always unavailable the 3rd week of March. He chuckled at that statement. I did get the job so I guess I got lucky.
