  1. My picks: 57 – Graff 61 – Steiber 65 – Retherford 70 – Field 74 – Burroughs 86 – Taylor 97 – Snyder 125 – Gwiz
  2. My thoughts: 125 – Lambert tech Rodriguez. Early season Jose is a toss up, recent Jose gets killed. I hope he can round back into form. 5-0 Nebraska 133 – NaTo over Montoya by decision. I think NaTo can push for a major, but Montoya is tough and I think he can hang on and scramble enough to keep this to a 5-7 point win. 5-3 Nebraska 141 – McCrystal over Pletcher by decision. I think the strength advantage will be a little too much. I think Pletcher keeps it close though. 8-3 Nebraska 149 – Micah over Purinton by major. If Micah can get anything going from top, this could be a tech. 8-7 Nebraska 157 – Berger with the major or tech over Ryan/DeCarlo/Powell. This weight is a huge hole right now and I’m not sure that changes this year. 13-7 Nebraska 165 – I hate to say it, but give me Arthur over Burcher. If this were at home I might switch this pick, but I’ll give home mat advantage here. 16-7 Nebraska 174 – If Bo doesn’t wrestle, this might be the dual. Bo over Barnes by decision or Barnes over Kresevic by major. I think Bo will go. Needs to get some mat time every couple weeks. 16-10 Nebraska 184 – Dudley over Martin by decision. This is absolutely a match Martin can win, but I can’t pick him to beat a top 5 guy until he actually does. 19-10 Nebraska 197 – Moore over Studebaker by decision. Moore doesn’t seem to be hitting a freshman wall, and I think his pace is too much for Studebaker and he gets the decision. 19-13 Nebraska 285 – Snyder over Jensen by tech. Snyder will be looking for a pin after he tires Jensen out, but I think Jensen stays off his back. 19-18 Nebraska This match could easily go either way, as there are tossup matches and then, intricacies within the favorites as well. 125 and 157 are key bonus wins for Nebraska. I have them getting 5 in each match, but if it’s only 4, then that’s a Buckeye win. 133 and 149 could be more bonus for OSU than I gave them, again potentially swinging the dual. 141 and 165 are toss ups, both of which I have going to Nebraska. 174 changes based on who is the starter. 184 and 197 are swing matches, which I have split. 285 depends on Snyder being available. I think he’ll be there, but if not, that’s a 9-12 point swing. Should be a great match. Can’t wait! #GoBucks
  3. The Moore takedown they are referring to is from the first period, I think about a minute in. — Christian Pyles (@CPyles8) https://twitter.com/CPyles8/status/807056593422520320
  4. In Ohio, if you placed top 3 the previous year, and win your district, then you are separated at the State level.
  5. Jake Ryan just got hosed by an official who decided that he wanted a match to go to OT no matter what. I rarely complain, but that was bad. They he hits Tom Ryan for a team point deduction. Horrible.
  6. That's a crime that DeShazer didn't get seeded. Beat JDJ and placed last year. Terrible.
  7. Micah actually wrestled 149 at the end of last year. I think it's a big cut, but if he's been committed to it for a while I think he can manage it successfully.
  8. Pletcher to the Bucks!!!!! THE Ohio State University. Add Mark Hall and get some depth.
  9. Cuba is the size of Ohio and they're kicking our tails. That's the #EpicFail.
  10. My response would be that Jesus taught from the Old Testament what he thought was right to teach and quote. If homosexuality was so wrong, then clearly Jesus would have, at some point, specifically mentioned it as a sin, as against God, as immoral. But he didn't. Not once. Never. Interesting.
  11. Religion is not, and, should not, be under attack. The use of religion as a convenient and lazy excuse to attack someone and call them mentally ill, that is what is under attack.
  12. The problem with quoting the Old Testament is then you are essentially stating that you believe in sending bears to eat children, human sacrifice, killing men for refusing to sleep with their dead brother's widow, genocide, turning men's wives into piles of salt out of spite, and destroying entire towns. Every one of those things is condoned by the Old Testament. I'm pretty sure Jesus didn't say "Love one another, so long as they're not gay, as I have loved you, but not in a gay way, though."
  13. CollegeWrestling4444, can you please quote for me where Jesus condemned homosexuality? If your basis for your opinion is religion, please tell me where, in the bible, the base figure for Christianity, Jesus Christ, said that homosexuality is wrong? You should be able to quote that from the top of your head.
  14. Can you point me to anything Jesus ever said condemning homosexuality?
  15. Hunter should be 1 spot above Beitz. Beat him twice this year.
  16. What! Start at 149 and have the 4x Big Ten champ decide it!
  17. Delgado should have been hit for about three stalling points. He was literally running backwards when NaTo got a 2on1 going. The ref refused to hit him until midway through the third.
  18. I'm not going to lie, as a Buckeye fan I loved seeing Evans lose using the same ride he used to beat Martin. Poetic justice.
  19. My thoughts: 125 - Waters is the favorite over Tomasello, but this is closer to a toss up than most would admit. I give Waters a decision at this point. 3-0 Mizzou 133 - Manley has a win over DeShazier this year, but also has a loss to Sabatello. I think JDJ is the favorite, but, just like 125, it’s closer to a toss up than one would like to admit. If one school sweeps both of these weights, that could be the difference in the dual. 3-3 Tie 141 - Mayes is solid, Logan is Logan. Mayes will do everything he can to avoid the pinfall. I think he gets teched though. 8-3 Ohio State 149 - Houdashelt is a stud, but so was Carter, and he didn’t manhandle Languis. I do think Houdashelt gets the major though. 8-7 Ohio State 157 - Lavalee is solid, but does have a loss to a wrestler from St. Cloud State on his resume this year. I think Demas, taking a cue from the Ohio State football team, comes out inspired and wrestles one of his best matches and gets a solid decision. 11-7 Ohio State 165 - Johnston is an average wrestler, but I think that he is better than Kresevic. I am giving Johnston a decision. However, if Bo wrestles, he gets bonus. 11-10 Ohio State 174 - England is good, but he does have a head scratching loss to Reed from Oklahoma. I think Martin is a hair better, but this is essentially a toss up. 14-10 Ohio State 184 - Courts vs. ?, who will Mizzou send out, Micklus or Eblen. Pre-Vegas, I would have favored Courts over either. Post-Vegas, I favor both slightly over Courts. I’m saying they send out Eblen and weigh in both Micklus and Cox at 197. 14-13 Ohio State 197 - Snyder v. Micklus/Eblen/Cox. I’m going to make this easy, I favor Snyder by decision over Micklus, possible major over Eblen, and I favor Cox over Snyder, slightly. I think, if they are losing, they send out Cox here and take their chances at heavy. 16-14 Mizzou 285 - Tav v Micklus. If this is the way the dual goes, Tav needs a win to seal the dual. I think he gets it over Micklus. If Courts or Snyder wins, and Tav has Cox, Cox would need bonus to tie or win, and I think Tav either wins or keeps him to a decision. 17-16 Ohio State There are lots of toss ups, practically the entire dual. The only clear favorites are Logan and Houdashelt, and I think the difference in their abilities (Logan>Houdashelt) could easily be the difference in the dual.
  20. Posted this on another site. Ohio State v. Kent State Preview 125 Nathan Tomasello v. Edilberto Vinas - Vinas was at MSU, where he went 2-2 and failed to place, losing to Austin Assad and winning one match by default. At Brockport Vinas finished 3-2, good enough for seventh place. I expect Tomasello to have his way with Vinas and pick up his first dual victory, this one by tech. 5-0 Ohio State 133 Johnni DiJulius v. Mack McGuire - McGuire was not at MSU, but did wrestle at Brockport, finishing as runner-up, getting majored by Cory Brewer in the finals. DiJulius and McGuire wrestled twice last year, with JDJ winning both matches, both by 2 points, one in OT. I’m really hoping that JDJ opens up his offense this year. I think he gets the decision here. 8-0 Ohio State 141 Logan Stieber v. Kyle Bauer - Bauer has wrestled in 2 opens so far, and made 2 finals, winning at Brockport and losing 1-0 at MSU. Assuming Logan’s medical issue is cleared up, I expect a tech here, probably in the second period. If Logan cannot go, the only other 141 on the roster is Sal Marandino. They could bump up one of the 133s if necessary. 13-0 Ohio State 149 Hunter Stieber/Jake Ryan v. Michael DePalma/Nathan Valentine - Given that neither Hunter nor DePalma have wrestled this year, no idea who we might actually see match up on Thursday. Hunter versus anyone is a Buckeye win, whereas I would favor DePalma over Ryan. I would favor Ryan over the KSU backup. If neither Stieber wrestles, all of a sudden we could have ourselves a match. 13-3 Ohio State 157 Josh Demas v. Ian Miller - The premiere matchup of the night. While 133 and 149 could match up previous NCAA qualifiers, neither will be as anticipated as this one. Miller wrestled at the NWCA All Star event, losing to James Green. Demas won the MSU Open over Brian Murphy. I am favoring Miller here, but close. A Demas win wouldn’t be a shocker, but I think the rust is still there and Miller wins by 3-4. 13-6 Ohio State 165 Bo Jordan v. Tyler Buckwalter - Buckwalter was 5th at the MAC Championships last year and 5th at Brockport this year. I think Bo techs him in the second. 18-6 Ohio State 174 Mark Martin v. Caleb Marsh - Martin beat Marsh 4-2 last year. If Martin is healthy this year I could see him taking a leap. I think he opens widens the gap a little this year. Solid decision. 21-6 Ohio State 184 Kenny Courts v. Mike Vollant/Cory Campbell - Not sure who goes here for Kent. Vollant took 8th at Brockport, while Campbell took 6th at MSU and did not place at Brockport. However, the one common opponent beat Campbell by 2 and majored Vollant. I don’t expect it to matter, as I think Courts gets the major on either, and, if he gets that tilt going, a tech is not out of the question. 25-6 Ohio State 197 Kyle Snyder v. Cole Baxter - Baxter took 1st at Brockport, but that only required winning 2 matched. Baxter lost to Heflin twice last year, both close. He lost to Wellington twice by 1 point and held J’Den Cox to a decision as well. He didn’t have a bonus point loss all year last year. I think that changes right away, and Snyder gets his takedown game going in this one. 29-6 Ohio State 285 Nick Tavanello v. Mimmo Lytle - Lytle took 4th at Brockport and 8th at MSU, while Tavanello took 5th at MSU after an atrocious first round match there. Tav beat Lytle 3-1 last year, and, despite his shaky start, I think he’s still a step ahead of Lytle. 32-6 Ohio State Overall This match was super close a few years ago, with the Bucks winning on Logan’s bonus if I recall. Now, the Buckeyes have widened the gap, and a shutout would be less surprising than a loss. Ohio State opens up the dual season in style. Wish I could be there, but the Mizzou match will have to do.
  21. Logan Stieber @_LogieBear_ · 11h11 hours ago Sucks I couldn't compete tonight I was weighed in and ready to go and the doctor didn't clear me.I'm all good now tho n I'll be back soon! @wrestlingbucks: Logan weighed in and was not medically cleared. He is ok but doc thought the best thing was to not compete tonight."
  22. I don't know how Jordan will fare this year for Ohio State. He's a small kid from what I've been told, who could probably make 149 without much difficulty, but will wrestle 157 to get ready for next year. I see mixed results for him this year.
  23. As a Buckeye fan I was looking over the Maryland football roster and starters and noticed that #77, Spencer Myers, a 5th year senior, is a starting defensive tackle for the Terps. Is this the former heavyweight? Just wondered. Kosta Karageorge was the Buckeyes backup heavyweight last year and is on the football roster, although he is not a contributor.
  24. 61 KG - Reece v. Scott in the challenge finals with Reece winning. Best of Three - Kennedy takes 1st, Humphrey takes 2nd, Kennedy gets the spot winning a close third match. 70 KG -Russell v. Schlatter/Green, I'm torn. I'll go Green, only because I'm not sure Schlatter won't pull out early with an injury. I take Green to make the finals against Marable. Marable wins in 2.
