  1. Actually it's the guy who is the best at wrestling... No matter how he got that way
  2. I was not aware of that. I didn't think he placed again after placing 4th as a Soph, am I wrong about that? I am reluctant to say Letters for the same reason with his injury his senior year, but losing to a freshman Mark Perry his Jr year is quite a step down from the invincible status he was perceived to have. I know, Mark Perry is a stud, but freshman Mark Perry does not compare to Senior Tyrone Lewis he beat the year before He placed 4th as a freshman. Completely missed his sophomore year because of the illness, came back the following year to finish R12 and then finished 5th as a senior. Eh I got it all wrong. I guess that history wasn't ancient enough for me.

  4. Sometimes I wish we could "like" posts like facebook.
  5. If you wanna know how flawed this scoring system is, ask the Peterson brothers how much better Gable was than them.
  6. We have seen it before, we will certainly see it again. If you had said "We may not see their like on the same team and at the same time again" I would agree. We may not. Forever is a real long time though. How about Tom and Terry?
  7. Wrestling is in the lead but not as far in the lead as I have seen it in most of these things, we better keep voting!
  8. I'm glad we can agree when we're not talking about Cael/Dake :) I thought the rules were great in the 90s
  9. I like them because they seem like they are getting back to the time when the rules somewhat made sense... I just hope they get them to a point where the rules are good and then STOP CHANGING THEM! I think part of the IOC's decision could have been because when we significantly change the rules every year it looks like we don't have our act together. When a sport has been around for thousands of years, it should have the rules figured out by now.
  10. What about the takedowns that used to be worth 2? With a back exposure that is not feet to back? Are they now just worth the same as a one point takedown?
  11. It's been ten years since I've been around CA wrestling, so maybe things have improved. When I was there, I was initially shocked at the overall (lack) of quality. Yes, there were/are a ton of kids wrestling in the state, but I'd go so far as to say that MOST of them wouldn't sniff a varsity lineup in PA/OH/NJ/NY. The elite kids are very good, but there are tons of kids that aren't wrestlers, filling out varsity lineups. It is true that there are probably more bad wrestlers in California than in most states, but it is the toughest state tournament in the nation.
  12. 9th most AA's per capita + 1st most populated state (by a very very long shot) + 1 division = THE toughest state tournament in the country.
  13. PS I think the 4 weight classes is more of a neat fun fact, not something that holds any weight as to how impressive the career was which is why you have never heard me make that argument.
  14. I am glad to earned an abbreviated name like ancient, I dig it. I do not ignore Dake's losses, Sanderson's going undefeated for those 4 years is an impressive feat that he has over Dake. I simply find Dake's feat he has over Sanderson of doing it without a redshirt more impressive. The point of the thread was simply to point out the fact that there is still a feat that nobody has accomplished yet to shoot for.
  15. Then the Dake/Cael argument won't matter because it would be a fight for second place. Then I will concede that Dake is the 2nd most impressive college wrestler of all time.
  16. Huh? Who said anything about losing "on purpose"? His record was 159 wins and ZERO loses with four NCAA titles, four Big 12 titles, four OW awards at NCAA's, and three Hodge trophies (noone else has more than 2 and only Askren as more than 1). And I keep hearing about this teammate of his Paul Jenn who beat him but the only mention on Cael's record about a man named Paul Jenn is someone from Iowa not Iowa st who he tech falled TWICE and majored once: Cael Sanderson's perfect record Joe Hesket Freshman year — 184 pounds Paul Jenn (Iowa) W-TF 19-4 Paul Jenn (Iowa) W-MD 10-2 Sophomore year — 184 pounds Paul Jenn (Iowa) W-Disq., 22-7
  17. Well Mr Gallon, Why don't you educate us with your list oh wise one? Because banging my head against brick walls gives me headaches and I guess because after all the years, hours spent, travel, money spent, passion, and support in many ways, I'm trying to move on and extradite myself from a (sadly) dying sport. So that's cool, come on here and tell everyone how stupid they are for not having the same opinion as you but don't have the guts to even say what your opinion is. Classy.
