  1. Hopefully I'll be able to get all 10 brackets done before they start, but I'll add as I go... 125 All-Americans 1. Tomasello - Ohio State 2. Megaludis - Penn State 3. Gilman - Iowa 4. Cruz - Lehigh 5. Bresser - Oregon State 6. Petrov - Bucknell 7. Dance - Virginia Tech 8. Rodriguez - North Dakota State Round of 12: Petrov (Bucknell) over Schram (Stanford) Rodriguez (North Dakota State) over Peters (Northern Iowa) Dance (Virginia Tech) over Millhof (Oklahoma) Bresser (Oregon State) over Templeman (Wyoming) Notes: Notably absent is Klimara, who I have losing to Bresser in the 2nd round and then getting knocked out by Rodriguez in the round of 16. 133 All-Americans 1. Brewer - Oklahoma 2. Clark - Iowa 3. Garrett - Cornell 4. Conaway - Penn State 5. Richards - Illinois 6. Hall - Iowa State 7. Taylor - Wisconsin 8. DiCamillo - Virginia Round of 12: Taylor (Wisconsin) over Montoya (Nebraska) Garrett (Cornell) over Malone (Northwestern) Conaway (Penn State) over DiJulius (Ohio State) DiCamillo (Virginia) over Bruno (Michigan) Notes: You may notice I have Garrett wrestling in the round of 12, because I've got Hall picked to pull the upset in the quarters. Yeah I know it's a stretch, but just a gut feeling. I've got Taylor beating Conaway in the 2nd round, but Conaway still coming back to place above his seed.
  2. Obviously calling Brands a p*ssy drew a lot of attention this year, but from what I've observed it seems like Dresser has always had a bone to pick with Brands. My question is: why? Before Brands left Virginia Tech, Dresser had spent his entire career as a high school coach. So from what I can tell, Brands leaving VT is the single best thing that's ever happened to Dresser's career, so what's he so pissed at Brands about?
  3. Virginia Tech - Dresser vs. a wrestling dummy with a picture of Tom Brand's face taped to it. I'll bet that gets intense...
  4. So my takeaway from that Twitter conversation is that Brands had no say whatsoever in who they wrestled, which basically makes Dresser the biggest tool in D1...
  5. Yeah, I know. But remember Gilman has also lost to Boyle, who I think is a lesser wrestler than Peters. I know Gilman has had a great season and even owns a recent win over Garrett, but I just haven't been terribly impressed with him lately. Conaway had him on the ropes twice, he lost to Boyle, and couldn't find any offense against Waters or Tomasello (not that many can). I just think he's ripe for upset and I've got a feeling Peters is the man to do it...

  7. When Brown dominated him in the BIG finals last year and then beat him handily again earlier this year, I didn't think Evans would ever beat him again. Evans is wrestling really well right now and could be a real threat to Perry in the semis tonight.
  8. Just filled out my brackets. Here's my picks through 157... 125: 1 - Garrett - Cornell 2 - Peters - N. Iowa 3 - Megaludis - Penn State 4 - Delgado - Illinois 5 - Taylor - Wisconsin 6 - Martinez - Air Force 7 - Germaine - E. Michigan 8 - Deutsch - Rider 133: 1 - Schopp - Edinboro 2 - Colon - N. 9. On Feb. 2 Minnesota wrestles Indiana which means Ness and Walsh will go at it. These are two of the most exciting, go-for-broke wrestlers in the country who both rely heavily on big moves. Could be an awesome match!
  10. ... who thinks it's pretty cool that Oregon State currently has two wrestlers ranked #1?
  11. DSJ isn't your typical Iowa wrestler. His style and attitude aren't what you normally associate with the Hawkeyes, but nonetheless, he's become one of the leaders of that program. I hope he goes out on top again, he's an easy guy to root for...
  12. Just for fun, and since the season is only days away, how about we make some predictions? I've created some categories you can fill in... The Darkhorse - This is the wrestler entering the season outside of the top 10 rankings that you think could be a finalist/champ come March... The Freshman Phenom - Pretty self-explanatory. This is the freshman (true or redshirt) that you think will have the best season... The Non-Phenom - This is the freshman (true or redshirt) who has received a ton of hype and maybe even has a high ranking coming in that you think will underperform this season... The Long Shot - This is the guy who certainly wasn't a "blue chip" recruit coming out of high school (never won multiple state titles or Fargo etc.) but will establish himself as a very good D1 wrestler this year... The Spoiler - This is the guy who is beginning the season unranked but will be a top 10 ranked wrestler by the end of the season... The Poacher - This is the guy who is talented but has been stuck behind an established wrestler in the lineup and will finally win the spot from him at some point this season... The Swan Song - This is the senior who has just been an average wrestler his first 3 years but is going to put it together for a great run his senior year...
  13. While Ed Ruth is obviously a highly respected wrestler, it seems to me he has kind of existed in the shadow of David Taylor. But years from now, should Ruth be considered the better wrestler? If we were going to put together a "Top 10 of All Time" list of NCAA wrestlers Ruth would absolutely have to be on that list, and probably above Taylor. Assuming they both go undefeated this year (which they should)... Ruth: 3x NCAA Champion 3 consecutive undefeated seasons 2 career losses Taylor: 2x NCAA Champion 2 undefeated seasons 3 career losses I think looking back, Ruth will be regarded as the better wrestler...
  14. Really? I swear I remember seeing/hearing that everyone from 125-149 was bumping...
