Joey Cozart

Any chance he may appear at Lindenwood (DII)? Russ Cozart wound up there.
2. Don't know how LIMartin is doing, but I talked with Coach Clayton of Steven's Tech the other morning and he said where he was at in Hoboken they were safe and dry, but power was out and they were looking at sending kids home for the entire week if the kids could make it out safely. classes have been cancelled until further notice as well. He sent me a pic via text that was pretty crazy of the scene down there in the NYC area and all I have to say is that I am very much thinking of all the people that have been victims of this storm.
3. Rankings came out yesterday when 10th ranked Neosho was on the road. The Panthers beat Arkansas Baptist (2nd year program) at ABC in the first dual their team has ever hosted. NCCC won by a 52-0 margin. Comments on dual against Arkansas Baptist from Coach Petterson courtesy of http://goneosho.com/ : “I thought we did pretty good on this trip. We got some things accomplished with the beginning of the competition process. Things our guys did well were making weight the first time and then wrestling hard, handling a hostile crowd that was right on top of us, and showing composure in some confusing situations. I think overall this was on track of why I scheduled this along with helping ABC out with having their first ever home match. The crowd was very loud through most of the dual but not so much educated on wrestling which made it fun.” I know the team got in extremely early this morning, so more details are sure to follow. Panthers are next in action Sunday at the Baker Open.

5. I hope to go to the event as well. We should find a good place in town and have a mat.com gathering prior or after the event.
6. So Neutral site duals are always interesting. Outside of dual tournaments and such what might be some of the better Neutral site competitions for this season. I know Cowley Community College will be hosting a DI dual and they are looking at adding wrestling so a large crowd would be good: On Friday, Dec. 7th at 7pm, two Division I wrestling powerhouses will be squaring off in a dual on Kansas soil! 7. Neosho has it listed that they dual Labette twice which has typically been the case in the past. 8. State of South Carolina also has a ton of College opportunities, so that could have occurred too
9. I know Lassen used to compete at the NJCAA , but now is in the Cal Juco State Tournament. I know when I was at Butler County Community College in Kansas, there was always talks about CC of San Francisco being solid. They did have NJCAA poll and Cal polls, but a lot of people looked at the JC Gridwire Poll which basically fantasy style ranked the teams of both combined in a top 25 style poll.
10. I think when programs start hearing some chirping around especially to the tune of: This could bring in more students and bring us more $$$. Another thing is if they know the bodies can fill rooms in dorms and etc. Community interest usually sparks discussion...then usually a good sign is if the college does research (NEO called around other Junior colleges to get an idea of what it would take to have a program).
11. Sacred Heart, Notre Dame (Ohio), Belmont Abbey, Gannon, Mercyhurst, John Carrol, Mercyhurt-Northeast. Newman (DII) and Benedictine (NAIA) both in Kansas are Catholic affiliated schools as well.
12. I think NJCAA has had some good growth in the last few years as well. Just in the last decade 3 teams in KS, 1 in Ark, 2 in Iowa, 1 in Illinois and 1 in MO have been added.
13. Plus you add in the fact a President that cares about wrestling (son is a Sr. Wrestler for Miami, Ok) and a better payday to boot. Word I heard is Joe only makes about 25k coaching salary at Labette. Other schools in the area start Juco Coaches off at 35 ish and have paid assistants that get $1,000 a month.
14. To me that is like Cross Country and Track being 2 separate sports. You may argue for the field aspect, but what if all the events winning you the National title are distance events?
15. That is the word in Southeast Kansas anyway. Sounds like the president of LCC wouldn't give him a facility, even if fundraised. However...we will wait to see, official announcement is still not made by NEO on their website.
16. Yep, only team I believe to get banned to due poor academic progress if I recall!
17. In terms of Television, I almost wish something would happen like ESPN2 gets all the NCAA DII Championships (not just wrestling...all of them!) ESPN3= DIII, ESPNU- NAIA....and so on. Variety would be great. Heck I get mad watching ESPN show High School Football and Basketball games. How about we show some huge High School duals, or the finals of bigger tournaments like Powerade or Ironman for example on that level?
18. I think this is where in some regards the Club level might have it right by having a 235 weight class, however as a big guy myself, I am thinking lets add a 121 class, then for the next 9 weights (125-197) add 3 pounds to create new classes, and add a 235 to make a 12 class system.
19. I do remember that now that you mention it. Some would say brush it under the table and see if anybody catches it. Runs a clean program and has a good heart for the sport which we need more of to influence some of the kids coming up in the system.
20. I know that a few years ago 2x 149lb DII Champion Waylon Lowe bumped 2 weight classe to take on Shawn Silvis a 2x 165 champ. Silvis won at regionals, Lowe won at Nationals and I believe got the OW in the process.
21. Well the person who is supposed to be taking over told his current team that he is going to be taking the NEO job from several sources I have spoken with that know of the situation.
22. Use this link to help: http://www.wrestlingstats.com/ncaa/brackets.htm
23. Take your current weight (not what you have the potential to make) and then Find who won the NCAA tournament the year you were born and pair them against the person from the year you graduated high school. Feel free to chime in on thoughts of who you think would win for other people's match ups. If you are over 285 go ahead and do HWT. In my case: I am 270 so HWT Champs were: 1980: Howard Harris (Oregon State) who WBF over Baumgartner in the finals that year and was a 4 time All American

Season School Tournament Weight Place

1980 Oregon State Division I UNL 1st

1979 Oregon State Division I 190 5th

1978 Oregon State Division I 190 5th

1977 Oregon State Division I 190 6th

vs 1998: Stephen Neal (Cal Bakersfield) who mauled Trent Hynek 20-5 in the finals that year and was also a 4 time All American (All At HWT).
