  1. Wayland Baptist University is currently seeking a volunteer GA Assistant for the women's wrestling team. Volunteer will receive compensation through the wrestling team. 1. Coordinates the recruiting of student-athletes who have the ability and potential, athletically and academically, to achieve success at WBU. In that sense, the Coach serves as a recruiting officer of the University, attracting students to participate in the programs 2. Assist in the planning, organizing and supervision of the wrestling program. 3. Set forth desired goals for the program 4. Adhere to all policies and procedures of the WCWA, NAIA, the Sooner Athletic Conference and WBU 5. Arrange for the use of facilities and vehicles through the Athletics Director 6. Arrange for pre-participation physicals and be responsible for securing all pre-participation forms as required by the Athletics Department policy for eligibility purposes 7. Recommend a preliminary budget for the upcoming season to the Athletic Director and Head Coach. Also, insure that budgeted revenues are achieved and budgeted expenses are not exceeded 8. Keep records of uniforms, equipment, and supplies issued during the season and submit an inventory of same at the end of the school year to the Athletic Director 9. Serve the Head Coach as the Coordinator of Wrestling Operations: a. Coordinate recruiting for the wrestling program by making contacts with potential players and arranging for campus visits b. Coordinate transportation and travel needs of the soccer teams c. Assist the Head Coach in planning, organizing, and supervising the total year round program for the sport. This will include pre and post -season practices as well as tournament events d. In the absence of the Head Coach, be responsible for the team or a portion of the team in practice and in contests 10. Be instrumental in leading team members to attain Christian growth and high ethical and moral standards 11. Manages all facilities maintenance, which includes equipment and faculty upkeep and student workers. QUALIFICATIONS: A commitment of Christian Higher education and in agreement with the purposes and philosophy of Christian higher education as promoted by the Baptist General Convention of Texas in general and Wayland Baptist University in particular. Education, Certification and License: 1. Bachelors Degree in ­Exercise & Sport Science or closely related field is preferred 2. Masters Degree in Exercise & Sport Science or closely related field is preferred Experience & Knowledge: 1. Experience in Wrestling is required 2. Collegiate coaching experience in Wrestling is preferred Skills & Abilities: 1. Possess good PC skills and experience in word processing, spreadsheet and database experience 2. Be able to communicate with the team in practice and competition 3. Possess written and oral communication skills and be able to communicate with a variety of constituents Additional Requirements: Must have no delinquent or defaulted Student Loans.     Wayland Assistant Coaching Position

    Wayland is still looking for a FULL TIME ASSISTANT WRESTLING COACH with benefits. A light-weight to middle-weight coached would be preferable. Wayland is the only collegiate wrestling program in Texas to offer women & men's wrestling a collegiate sport. The school is 100% behind the wrestling program, and it has continued to improve each year.

    Our featured clinicians (Alyssa Lampe @ 4 KG, Kelsey Campbell @ 58 KG) at the camp will be competing today at the World Team Trials. There will be at least 7 clinicians that are nationally ranked in USA Wrestling Senior Rankings coaching and training at this camp.     Wayland Wrestling Camp - June 11th-14th

    Airport transportation will be provided from Lubbock, TX. Anybody wanting transportation to and from the airport, but prior notification and arrangement must be made with Coach Meister.
  11. Wayland Baptist University, a private faith based NAIA institution in Plainview, Texas is seeking an Assistant Wrestling Coach for the women & men’s wrestling programs. Applicants should have received a bachelor’s degree. The candidate must also have, or be willing to attain, a commercial driver’s license (CDL). Duties include: recruitment and retention of student-athletes that will fit into Wayland’s culture. Help monitor academic progress and eligibility. Assist in planning and organization of team’s events train (training and travel). Serve as a leader, mentor, and role-model at all times.   12. The # 15th ranked (NAIA) Pioneers traveled to Oklahoma City University to compete in the OCU Open. The link contains highlights from OCU tournament. The Pioneers will be back in action on Nov 13th when they face # 13th ranked (D-2) Wolves of CSU-Pueblo for a dual in Plainview, TX @ 7 pm.

  14. Wayland Baptist University is seeking a Graduate Assistant for the Women & Men's Wrestling Teams. A bachelor’s degree is required. Previous college wrestling and/or coaching experience is recommended. Duties include but are not limited to: Retention and recruitment of student athletes; Assist in daily planning of team training and conditioning; Ensure academic compliance with all university and NAIA policies and procedures; Assist with monitoring academic progress and eligibility. Currently the university has the only intercollegiate wrestling program in the state of Texas. This position would pay a stipend, partial tuition, and possibly housing. It would be a great opportunity for somebody that wants to gain a lot of experience at a high level of competition in a program that is well supported by the school.   15. Wayland is still currently searching for a full time assistant coach. This position is well paid, offers benefits, and matches 6% in retirement. The Pioneers will be entering their 4th year as program. In three short years the programs has produced 14 All-Americans, 1 National Finalist, 1 US Open Finalist, and 1 World Team Trials Participant. The men's team finished in 16th place at the NAIA National tournament, and the women placed 8th at the WCWA tournament. Each team returns all of it's wrestlers and looks to finish even higher the 2013-2014 season. This job will have growth opportunity as well. Supplemental teaching opportunities are available for those who possess the required qualifications.
