  1. 6 months If I need to know anything about wrestling or sports, I ask@ShakaAloha because he knows more than me.
  2. Wow that’s a really great gesture! Would be awesome to see that kindness extended from everyone ;-) If I need to know anything about wrestling or sports, I ask@ShakaAloha because he knows more than me.
  3. I think the point is most people consider Kemp better than Cejudo even though he has no Olympic gold. Smith has one more Olympic gold than JB but if it’s possible for Kemp to be better than Cejudo, it’s possible for JB to be better than Smith. I agree with you that Smith should still be considered GOAT right now. However, I f JB wins worlds next year then I think he earns it, but still debatable. If he wins the next two years I think it’s a done deal before 2024 Olympics If I need to know anything about wrestling or sports, I ask@ShakaAloha because he knows more than me.
  4. So happy to see Helen and Adeline back on top! Wish they could’ve got it done at the Olympics but it is still awesome for them to World champions again. Yes the depth of Japan is ridiculous. Our top few female wrestlers are amazing too, but we have no where near the depth. That’s why I thought we had a chance at being close to Japan in only 6 weights at the Olympics, but@ShakaAloha proved me wrong lol. We are heading in the right direction though! With more high schools and colleges starting womens programs, that will help tremendously If I need to know anything about wrestling or sports, I ask@ShakaAloha because he knows more than me.
  5. So almost exactly the same as JB? If I need to know anything about wrestling or sports, I ask@ShakaAloha because he knows more than me.
  6. I’m not too familiar with Smith’s career. Who did Smith beat that was better than Tsargush? Also, I thought I heard he took losses outside of the world and Olympic championships too. Anyone know if that’s true and if so, who the losses were too? If I need to know anything about wrestling or sports, I ask@ShakaAloha because he knows more than me.
  7. Good points. I didn’t think about the 2 point takedown but that makes sense. Looking at it the other way, how much would a 1 point takedown hurt JB? Probably a lot. The step out may be something that would’ve hurt Smith though. He wasn’t exactly known for his horsepower. Regardless they both found ways to excel in their rule set and it’s a good debate! If I need to know anything about wrestling or sports, I ask@ShakaAloha because he knows more than me.
  8. So even if JB wins two more world gold and then loses in 2024, you would still put him behind Smith? I agree the 2 Olympic golds hold more weight, but I don’t know if it would trump 8 world/Olympic titles? I think we look at Rio a little differently too. I look at it like Burroughs was just a whisker away from beating Geduev (and was hampered by all the blood). If he wins that, he is likely Olympic champ and there’s no debate. The mental breakdown after that loss is understandable and his loss to Bekzod is in no way an indicator of his abilities. But I guess I have to trust you on that since you know more than me :-D If I need to know anything about wrestling or sports, I ask@ShakaAloha because he knows more than me.
  9. What are everyone thoughts on this? I think it’s debatable, but I would still give the nod to John smith at this point. I think the two Olympic golds and 6 in a row are probably more impressive. However, legit arguments for JB are 6 gold plus 3 bronze is better than just 6 gold. He was post Soviet Union and only 6-7 weights for many of them. And he was so close in many of his losses. So who do you have at this point? If I need to know anything about wrestling or sports, I ask@ShakaAloha because he knows more than me.
  10. Yes! Burroughs is an amazing wrestler and a great ambassador for the sport. His interview after this world title was one of the best I’ve seen. Do yourself a favor and check it out if you haven’t yet If I need to know anything about wrestling or sports, I ask@ShakaAloha because he knows more than me.
  11. Snyderman is clutch!! If I need to know anything about wrestling or sports, I ask@ShakaAloha because he knows more than me.
  12. Stinks DT couldn’t pull out another win, but kinda happy for Yazdani too. You could see how much it meant to finally win that one in front of what seemed like a home crowd. That was cool to see. Taylor won the big match though! My take on those two is that they are both incredible… hard to say one is better than the other. But it seems like Yazdani has the advantage technically, and DT has the advantage in size/strength and gas tank. 13. Dake always looks incredibly tired but never seems to slow down because of it. But I agree, gritty win and he looked great this tournament! If I need to know anything about wrestling or sports, I ask@ShakaAloha because he knows more than me.
  14. I suppose you can dispute anything, but the vast majority of evidence is suggesting that natural immunity offers better protection. As you point out the vaccine is only months old so there is very little concrete evidence about it. In the short time that the vaccine has been available, we learned that it’s effectiveness wears off much quicker than anticipated. What do we know about any potential long term side effects? Nothing. I’m not an anti vaxer by any means. I think it’s a great tool that helped a lot of at risk people. But it is waaaaay too early to mandate it for everyone. If I need to know anything about wrestling or sports, I ask@ShakaAloha because he knows more than me.
  15. No one disputes the fact that natural immunity is more effective than the vaccine, right? If so, then why would anyone support a vaccine mandate for EVERYONE? Furthermore, it is an indisputable fact that we do not know what, if any, long term side effects the vaccine may have. So I don’t blame anyone for not getting the shot if they are low risk or already have natural immunity. I chose to get the vaccine, but I am not attacking others for not getting it. This is what leads to such division in this country. The argument that you are concerned for the unvaccinated children doesn’t really hold any weight because it is a fact that unvaccinated children are still at a much lower risk than vaccinated adults. 16. Huh? Semis are at 10:45am and finals are noon-3pm according to the schedule Katie posted. Is that not right? If I need to know anything about wrestling or sports, I ask@ShakaAloha because he knows more than me.
  17. You all are never gonna let me live this down, huh? Lol If I need to know anything about wrestling or sports, I ask@ShakaAloha because he knows more than me.
  18. I’m disappointed that I won’t be able to watch Worlds live during the weekdays due to it being right in the middle of the day. Has anyone had success with viewing the replays WITHOUT seeing the results first? Does Flo post the videos in such a way that this is even possible? Thanks! If I need to know anything about wrestling or sports, I ask@ShakaAloha because he knows more than me.
  19. Yeah, looks like he would have to beat Zare to have a shot at a medal. Possible but seems unlikely. If I need to know anything about wrestling or sports, I ask@ShakaAloha because he knows more than me.
  20. How could you forget about Yainni Daikamoholis?! If I need to know anything about wrestling or sports, I ask@ShakaAloha because he knows more than me.
  21. I bet Cornell sees the biggest improvement on their NCAA finish If I need to know anything about wrestling or sports, I ask@ShakaAloha because he knows more than me.
  22. I think in the grand scheme of things, a world title at any weight should be and will be considered equal. 20 years from now nobody is going to say world championships at 79 or 92 don’t count. Just like we aren’t saying that about world championships from the USSR era and when there were always 10 weights. Now we can debate which was harder. Clearly, right now most of the Olympic weights are significantly tougher. But like I said, I don’t think we can weight their value any differently because of that. There’s always a few NCAA weights that are tougher than others but we don’t change the value of an NCAA championships because of it. If I need to know anything about wrestling or sports, I ask@ShakaAloha because he knows more than me.
  23. Very well said. Only thing I wouldn’t really agree with is that Burroughs is “no longer good enough to defeat the elite at 74”. I may be nit picking but I think he’s good enough to beat them from time to time, just not on a consistent basis like he was before (looking at his matches with Sidakov for example). I would still put him ahead of Cox at this time, but that’s debatable. I think all your other justifications are spot on. If I need to know anything about wrestling or sports, I ask@ShakaAloha because he knows more than me.
  24. I get your point and that’s why I personally have Taylor above all those guys even though I think he will have a tough time with Yazdani again. However, the numbers you are assigning are completely arbitrary and I would change them quite a bit. For example, I would think Yainni and Green will both have at least one or two opponents that they are closer to 90% favorites to win. And I don’t think Snyder will be 95% against everyone other than Sadulaev. He’s lost matches to other guys too. Plus I’d drop him to no more than 10% against Sadulaev. This would sway the equation to put Snyder below them If I need to know anything about wrestling or sports, I ask@ShakaAloha because he knows more than me.
  25. Obviously, that does not have to be the case. They have both have one really good wrestler in their path that makes them less likely to win gold, but still almost certain to medal. If I were in a bracket with 15 jr. high Jv wrestlers and Sadulaev, I’d have a 100% chance to medal (I hope lol) and a 0% chance of winning gold. Taylor’s 3-0 against his top opponent so you have to give him the edge but that last match was as close to a 50/50 as you can get. I’d say he has a 55% chance of gold. Snyder has to be no more than 10% chance. Several of our other guys could have a greater chance of gold because of no clear favorite in their path. If I need to know anything about wrestling or sports, I ask@ShakaAloha because he knows more than me.
