  1. Id actually give Storley an edge. Lol
  2. Quarters on the middle mats (3-4-5-6) and consis outside. So they run at the same time, with the quarters being aired on tv and stream. 11 Eastern.
  3. Garrett is looking impressive - But McD is a winner in the NCAAs, period. The senior is going to use his experience to beat out the freshman. Id love to see Alton over Welch, but I think Welch is going to get him this time. Storley over Evans is an upset by the numbers - that is how crazy 174 is !!! :D Should be a great round.
  4. Alton should win this. Although the way he has been down the stretch here there is no guarentee. The only comforting thing, for PSU fans, is that Grajales looks just as bad, and for longer.
  5. If you think this tournament is boring: 1) You are not watching 2) You don't know wrestling 3) You somehow predicted all of these major upsets
  6. This tournament is off to a crazy start. It seems to me that there have been A LOT of upsets early...as well as some continuation upsets (by which I mean an unseeded/low seeded guy rattling off 2 wins in a row against seeded/higher seeded guys). Great tournament so far!
  7. Dude.. Tell me again about Monk.... You probably should have waited until after Bubby Graham's match to start the smack talk. lol.
  8. Its ridiculous that this problem has lasted this long. Should have been fixed after a few mins...max.
  9. No If Dake wins out , he will get the Hodge, no question. IMO. They will look at the 4 X 4 results, and it will be a landslide I suspect. Even if Ruth pinned out ... It probably will not be enuf to swing it his way. Possibly. Even probably actually. If he doesn't score bonus in this tournament (which I think he will anyway) and wins, he is still darn close in dominance with the other guys in the running. Dake is the favorite coming in, and not because of his past accomplishments. He has arguably been the most dominant this year - so like I said it is his award to lose.
  10. Well, you had a decent post up until the second sentence. Dake is not a "lock" if he wins and scores no bonus. He was the favorite in many eyes coming in, and deservedly so, however Kilgore and Ruth were not far behind. So if Dake scores no bonus and, say for example, Ruth pins everyone he faces - it is not out of the realm of possibility that Ruth (or Kilgore should he do something similar) could beat him out for the Hodge. For the reasons I already explained, nobody would be arguing against Dake getting the Hodge because "they're pissed that Dake beat Taylor again". That is stupid.
  11. Styles make matches..... just ask Taylor when it comes to Dake. PS - just commenting on the posters comment. I actually like both guys and if they make the finals I won't be rooting for either, just want to see a good match. Certainly true. Perfect example why the transitive property does not apply in wrestling! Taylor pins Martin and Techs him. Dake Beats Martin 3-0. Dake beats Taylor by 1, twice. Wrestling is an amazing sport.
  12. Because Dake has just been racking up the points on him!!
  13. The Hodge is not the OW of the tournament. Even if he wins every match of the tournament by only decision he is still in the lead for the Hodge unless Kilgore / Ruth rack up the bonus (which the probably will, but that is besides the point)
  14. Alton isn't looking in good shape to win according to track. : /
  15. Can you only watch mats 3-4-5-6? I dont see links on espn3 for 1-2-7-8??
  16. Well, when people are saying Oliver is under-rated, I think they mean more so in a historical sense than in a "being a favorite to win this year" sense. His numbers are unreal, he has one of the most exciting styles ever, he is in line for a 2nd title, which should be his 3rd since he was pretty much totally robbed of the 2nd last year (no offense to Stieber, who seems like he will actually have a better career than JO - hard to do - but that was 2 for JO). No offense to Chamberlain...but I do not think he is on Oliver's level in folkstyle right now - honestly probably not in freestyle either but that is a totally different topic. Id be mightily surprised if Chamberlain were to beat Oliver. I think that he may not even make the finals, he has no easy road. If he does though, he loses to Oliver in a completely controlled match to get the title he had taken away from him last year - Something like 7-3. I don't think Chamberlain should be counted out, Ness either. I say that mostly because of their size advantages. 149 is not perfect for Oliver, although he is very good and still the favorite to win. In a hypothetical world, where all these guys were truly the same size, I think Oliver wins the vast majority of the time. I could be wrong, but I think Oliver will struggle in the finals if he meets a guy like Ness. How much would Ness weigh by the time of the ncaa finals compared to Oliver? Maybe something like 160-155. Not enough to make the difference you are thinking it would.
  17. He's consensus top 5 P4P right now, so he's appropriately rated. Better than Taylor, Ruth or Dake? No. Again, I said in a historical sense. Not currently.
  18. I know he has wrestled internationally. I meant, obviously, that he hasn't yet put his full focus into freestyle. Thanks for being the literal police!!!
  19. I just want to point out two glaringly obvious hypocrisies in this post (as well as your over-arching idea). Two words: Censorship and Abuse. 1. You are complaining about censorship, and as a solution want to censor people's opinion's of what the board should be? Uhh, ok. They are not blocking or deleting these posts you are talking about, just seemingly being pricks. That is not censorship. 2. You are complaining about abuse these posters are receiving. Ok, two things here. First, what do you call it when you call the Alton's "back woods hillbillies "? Second, again you are speaking about censorship and freedom of speech - that is a two way street. If you want to say whatever you want, people who opose your opinions have to be allowed to as well - even if whatever it is they say is stupid/ignorant/etc. That is what these boards are here for - to discuss. You don't want it to be an all-praise-all-the-time board...great (I actually tend to agree with that). But please see the hypocrisy and contradictions in what you are saying here - they are making my head spin.

Why would you bet the field against Dake at +$150 when Taylor is +$170? It is not like anyone else besides one of them has a chance to win...
  22. PA-Fan

    Odds

If someone is +$ - they are an underdog. If you bet Chris Perry to win at +$150, you risk $100 to win $150. (If you win you win $150, but if you lose you lose $100) If someone is -$ they are a favorite. If you bet Ed Ruth to win at -$600, you risk $600 to win $100. (If you win you win the $100 you bet, but if you lose you lose $600)

I also like that price on Q. He finds a way to win!
