  1. That's odd. Because reason and the results are exactly what backs the current argument im making (as well as when I made it before the results even existed to back it up). Although since you continually just address the straw men you create as opposed to what I am actually saying, I suppose that doesn't matter.
  2. Congratulations on wrestling D-1, although I don't see how that gives you insight into the differences of folkstyle vs. the new freestyle rules. Secondly, please go back and actually read the arguments you are attempting to discredit before attempting to discredit them...it would make things much easier. Without even going into things like scoring differences (exposure, throws, scrambles, pushouts, etc) and approach/strategy differences in freestyle to folkstyle, or even the intricacies of the scoring of the Dake-Taylor match specifically (how the scramble in the first period at the Trials would have been a completely different score in folkstyle due to the rule differences)... I will skip all of that and keep this very simple and use actual concrete evidence: Freestlye Result: K. Dake wins. 5-0, Fall 1:25. Folkstyle Result: K. Dake wins 2-1, OT (rideout) So, you saying "Getting physically manhandled when trying to "open things up" translates in any style." obviously does not apply here. I will say once again... The freestyle result means about as much now as which of them would win in a game of pool when it comes to determining who will win at the Scuffle, or NCAAs. They are separated by the smallest of margins in folkstyle right now, period.
  3. Well ill just ignore the rest of whatever it was you were talking about with your first post and go with this.... Yes, the freestyle result has been argued to be non-comparitive to a folkstyle match, over many many pages, by many people (including myself) in multiple past threads. This happened before the All-Star meet. I can see you only joined 10 days ago, so I could maybe understand why you wouldn't know that.... Though, I made it crystal clear in this thread that all the past freestyle vs. folkstyle arguments (those, like myself, saying freestyle results dont translate into folkstyle because of the scoring/style differences) have been 100% validated by their folkstyle result - which was decided by the thinnest possible margin. This there is no excuse for you to not be aware of, so the fact that the freestyle result hasn't been "addressed in your mind" means nothing. In reality, it has been more than settled. There is no argument to be had anymore when it comes to Taylor v. Dake. The freestyle result means about as much now as which of them would win in a game of pool. They are separated by the smallest of margins in folkstyle, period.
  4. More straw men and baseless claims. One more time, I have not and will not ever make an excuse for a loss. At least have the integrity to stick to what you say and defend it against criticism. If not why even post (aside from stirring things up the way you like to do I suppose)
  5. What are you even talking about? When I say "address it" I am speaking about the claims that he himself is making... No I am not the "PSU spokesman". My addressing what means zero? Taylor got stuck, ok. What does that have to do with the current discussion exactly? Congratulations. You may have one of the most nonsensical and off the wall posts I've ever read here. (and I've been in a few whoppers of discussions with Marty)
  6. How about addressing some of the ridiculous claims you make? Why not stick just to this thread for brevity... You said -Taylor is pandering to his fanbase - nonsense, what in the world are you basing this on? -Taylor need to be humble and show respect - nonsense, he has never done anything but, after a loss and the big one is -You continue to bring up the freestyle result, as if it means anything at all. Obviously the styles are completely different, specifically when discussing Dake v. Taylor, this has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt. Yet you continue to mention it in each and every comment you post. Let it go, and stick to reality. Taylor and Dake are seperated by a hair right now. Each meeting is as much of a toss-up as there can ever really be. To say otherwise is ridiculous...and to say otherwise then attempt to use their freestyle result is beyond ridiculous. Finally, nobody in this thread, specifically me, has made a single "excuse". The discussion is how to beat Dake, period. Stop creating straw men and address the actual arguments being presented, please.
  7. I see all opportunity for a talented wrestler like Dake if DT chooses to wrestle him like he did at the Olympic Trials. Why is it that you repeat this ridiculous argument and again bring up the freestyle match, when it has already been addressed and shown to be ridiculous? I even addressed it directly to you earlier in this thread! (which you chose to ignore...so you could bring it up again a few posts later?)
  8. I know what I am doing while talking to you after all our previous encounters. Your arguments are mostly nonsensical (while they may appear logical), and always biased against Taylor (for example when you went on for weeks about how Dake deserved the Hodge over Taylor, when Taylor had him beat in almost all criteria, and Dake was not even in 2nd place). Saying you have to force the stalling issue with the refs vs. Kyle Dake is not complaining, it is smart. In the same way that Dake's style is not in itself stalling, it is smart (which im certain you'd agree with)
  9. True, but this is not the discussion here. The discussion is how silly it is to claim that 4 time champ at 4 weights (with multiple losses) is a tougher/more impressive accomplishment than 4 time champ with ZERO losses.
  10. Because he has to worry about giving up points the same way in folk as he does in free, right? These arguments are getting more and more tired, give it up already. The freestyle result doesn't compare to their folkstyle matchup, the scoring and approach is so drastically different, as ive been saying for months, and that has been more than validated by their first folkstyle match (which was decided by the thinnest of margins, lets not forget). Again, stop trolling. If you are coaching Taylor after that match what would you say? Of course next time he needs to open up and attack more. It is no secret that Dake is defensive and controls the pace...so open it up. Take him down or force stalling on him...its basic strategy that any coach would implement. I'd tell him to stop pandering to his moron fanbase online with cries of stalling, and show a little humility and respect in loss. I'd tell him to let his wrestling do the talking. Because if it doesn't work out on the mat, it really boxes his brand more tightly in the corner. You're an idiot. Taylor is as humble as can be in his losses, and is nothing but respectful to Dake in any kind of public forum. If you think he is reacting to and/or cares what is said online by his "fanbase", you are more than an idiot, you're an imbecile.

  12. I hope by this you mean the only one within the p4p rankings and not in the US in general. Im fairly sure you do, I just want to make sure you are not counting out JB already ;)
  13. The argument you are building here, to use your own words, is absolute "nonsense". Ill ask again, as I just did in the other thread, what you are basing this on? What mathematical model are you using to determine that 4 time undefeated champ is more likely than 4 time at 4 weights? The way I see it, is that even the 4 timer at 4 weights (which he isn't yet, btw) didn't go undefeated in his 4 years....wouldn't that make undefeated more difficult to achieve, being that the 4 different weights guy couldn't even achieve it?
  14. What? What in the world is this even based on?
  15. I was speaking generally about Dake's style. Stating the only foreseeable way to defeat it. At no point did I say "Taylor will open Dake up and destroy him" , or even make a specific prediction about him doing so. Stop trolling. The only hint I made towards Taylor was the last part, obviously. Is there another way to beat Dake that you see? Then mention it. Otherwise I'll say again, stop trolling.
  16. Dake has been beaten multiple times. Caels record has a 0 in it. Enough said! Yea this is a pretty silly statement buck. It's "nonsense" to say that Dake (if he wins 4 titles) would not be considered better than the guy who also has 4 titles AND 0 losses? Come on.... The 4 different weight classes thing is fine and an unbelievable accomplishment, but it does not compare to going undefeated in 4 seasons. No matter how you try to twist and rationalize it...it simply doesn't compare.... If you did a poll on it, I am more than certain that an overwhelming majority of people would vote "Undefeated 4 time champion" is more of an accomplishment than "4 time champion at 4 different weight classes with 4 losses" Also one more note on your wording here. If Dake's accomplishment makes him clearly the best of all time because you guarantee we will never see it again...uhhh who else has gone undefeated in 4 years of NCAA competition??
  17. The only way to beat Dake's style is to attack, attack, attack! You can't beat Dake at his on game, by controlling the pace and looking for openings, he is too good..there will be no openings. You have to be phenomenal on your feet and continuously attack and push the pace for the td, get him off balance and make your own openings. One of 2 positive outcomes will happen: 1) You get the td, and go from there 2) You don't get the td but build up stalling and Dake is forced to open his style more and/or get hit for stalling. Now these are the positive outcomes only. Obviously he could not get hit with stalling, counter and take you down, etc. But that's the risk that must be taken. To me, this seems like the only way to beat Dake. And there seems to be only one person with the style and skillset to accomplish this ;)
  18. Taylor. The more he sees Dake the more likely he is to score. One of these times he has to finish that shot right!
  19. Dake 2010: 34-2. 7 falls, 2 Tech Falls, 5 Majors 2011: 31-2. 7 falls, 2 Tech Falls, 11 majors 2012: 35-0. 12 falls, 3 Tech Falls, 6 majors So when was he supposed to win the Hodge Trophy? The award that is by many considered to be the College Heisman/MVP trophy but is awarded to the wrestler who is most dominant on the season. Was it last year, the only year he was undefeated? That would be the closest case you could make for him deserving of the award. But it went to Taylor who was also undefeated at 32-0 with 15 falls, 9 Techs, and 6 majors. Only 2 of his matches were kept to a decision. Dake had 14 matches go to decision. I think he made it pretty clear that he wasn't arguing that Dake got screwed out of a hodge...aka he didn't deserve to win it at any point. He was just pointing out its odd (not off*) for someone to win 3 titles and not win it...
  20. It's only unbelievable to anyone who doesn't understand what the Hodge trophy is awarded for. Not saying that is you, obviously it seems like you do, just speaking in general :D
  21. The point, that you seem to be overlooking (?), is that Dake's college competition (Taylor, Caldwell, St. John, etc) has not had a crack yet at the world level acomplishments of Cael's (Hahn, Jones, Eggum, Cormier, etc.) I agree with you that 15 years from now, the Cael group will be more acomplished...but you can't say that just yet when the Dake group is still in college competing and not even focused on freestyle yet!!
  22. +1 Saying Dake is no better than Cael without his career complete isn't even a fair comparison. If he were to win World Championships and Olympic Golds then how would it compare? It is fair the way he is trying to say it (Dake's College career vs. Cael's)...the thing that is wrong is him automatically writing off Dake's competition as inferior because they have never made world teams, or won Olympic medals...they havent had the chance yet!
  23. Yes. I actually agree that Cael's competition was/and will remain tougher. But saying something like "Eggum won a silver medal. Taylor can not even come close to making a world team." is just flat out silly. Taylor hasnt even graduated from college yet.
  24. Ivy League courses are not much different than anywhere else, generally speaking. Unless you are talking specific schools or programs (Like Business, Law, etc)...generally courses at colleges not in the top 4-5 (Cornell, Penn, Duke, etc) are the same as anywhere else.
