  1. I just decided to bold and underline all of the stupidity in this post. Some of it is just flat out stupid...some of it is hysterically ironic...some of it is just nonsensical - but all of it needs to be pointed out at moronic. My favorite is Taylor is a "boy amongst men" - while he has 3 career losses in 3 years, been to 3 NCAA finals, has a Hodge Trophy, and scores bonus points against literally almost everybody he faces.
  2. Come on, Tig. Given the way McD went out - he is under no obligation to do this, nor should anyone expect him to. I wouldn't expect the athlete with the most sportsmanship ever to do this after going out the way he did. I think this is completely news-worthy and impressive...and a very cool gesture.
  3. Good stuff. I think Ruth is still a 3-1 favorite over any tag-team combination 184 has!
  4. It truly amazes me how International and Freestyle matches/accomplishments are always brought up on this board, without fail, during a discussion of NCAA/Folkstyle careers. If Taylor had won the freestyle match you would use that as evidence as well. Were talking career's here. No, I wouldn't. Not when we are discussing NCAA careers. The idea is pretty simple. Even the guy who I disagreed with in the first place can see it...here:
  5. So by using your criteria the only ncaa champion Dake has beaten is the good but not elite Taylor who has faced weak competition and doesn't even deserve to be a champ. I guess Dake has never beat an elite ncaa champ either. I'm pretty sure by his logic Cael isn't an elite wrestler either. Good, certainly... but not elite. Guys your points are too logical and rational. I'm sure he doesn't understand contradiction and/or irony - and certainly not how to form a sound and sensible argument without contradiction and/or irony . Check out some of his post history! Obviously Dake's marque win(s) of his career (Taylor) is worthless. And him going up a weight to go after him means less than nothing - Taylor is good sure, but certainly not elite. He's been pretty quiet lately in this thread....hmmm

  7. Glad to know that you know the future. All one has to do to counter "history" on that point, is refer to the fact that Taylor lost 3 to-the-wire decisions to Dake this year (one an exibition)...whether you like to believe it or not they are "on the same level" - im sure if you asked Kyle Dake himself he would tell you so. (Unless you are talking about accomplishments - which I am not - in which case I already said Dake has separated himself - obviously)
  8. Do you believe that guys like Varner and McDonough are not a big step below Sanderson and Smith? Yes I do believe they are - but you can not go simply by the numbers (and at the same time underestimate Taylors numbers - no matter how many titles he has at this point he still has only 3 NCAA losses and a Hodge to his name---but this is slightly besides the point). For example, Gable "only" has 2 titles - is he not on the level of Cael and Dake and Smith for this reason? I think most people would say no - despite "only" having 2 losses he is still up on that level. Do Cael, Dake, and Smith get inched ahead of Gable because they got it done on the big stage every time? Absolutely. Is Gable a HUGE step below these guys? Absolutely not. This is the same reason I took issue with saying Taylor is a huge step below Dake. And no knock to anybody being discussed in this thread - or anybody posting in it - but as otherworldly as Dake is Taylor is as well. His style/numbers/accomplishments/etc speak for themselves. It just so happens that Dake was in his weight class this year and edged him out - twice. Dake is a legend, it goes without saying. But Taylor is not a huge step below. They are on the same level (like Cael vs. Gable) - Dake is just slightly above given his accomplishments and also head to head victories we were all privileged to watch.
  9. Listen, I have never once said that Dake is not better than Taylor right now. I think Dake is, but do I think Taylor is close enough he could win on any given day in any given style? Yes I do think that. I hope they meet many more times. Dake went 3-0 against Taylor this season and is now done wrestling Folkstyle after winning his fourth consecutive national title. I think at this point there is zero question at this point that Dake is better than Taylor. None. Dake is one of the best wrestlers in the history of the sport. Taylor will, at best, have a legacy similar to Varner's and at worst similar to McDonough's. A great, one of the best in the decade guys. But a huge step below Dake. Oh yea....HUGE step below. They don't even belong on the same mat. Is Dake "better"? Yes. Is your last statement ridiculously over-exaggerated? Also yes.
  10. Congratulations. You now have the two stupidest posts I have ever seen on here. 101-3 career record with a 2-1-2 NCAA finish, a Hodge trophy, and a bonus win % over 80% - with two losses coming by 1point,to one of only three 4 time champions in the history of the sport. That sure is your average, run-of-the-mill, non-elite NCAA D1 wrestling career. Honestly, you have to be joking. I refuse to believe someone can actually be that stupid.   yah, he's gone into full troll mode. Just leave him alone and let him play by himself. The sad thing is...I don't think so. I just think he actually is that stupid.

  12. You just continue to make a fool of yourself. Go and say "David Taylor is not an elite wrestler" to anybody who knows anything or has the smallest involvement in wrestling - and I promise you will be laughed at. Even when you are again trying to change what you said from "Taylor is not an elite wrestler" to "Taylor will not be known for [being an] elite [wrestler]" (i added the words you seem to be missing - on top of everything else your grammar seems severely lacking) - you still fall flat. That statement is almost as ridiculous and stupid as your original one. You are a complete ignoramus - and that simple statement proves that beyond a shadow of a doubt. Never beat an NCAA Champion the same year or year before? I appreciate how you qualify your statement in such a subjective and meaningless way. Obviously you have to beat an NCAA champion the same year or the year before - if not it doesn't count! I don't know why people always say 149 in 2008 was one of the toughest brackets in NCAA history!! Most of those guys weren't even champs yet - so they stunk.
  13. It's strange you keep avoiding any response to me calling you out for saying Taylor isn't an elite wrestler. Being that you like to make entire threads calling people out (for things that never occurred), one would think you would at least back up the ridiculous and silly claims you make.
  14. You shouldn't even answer that question - you are just allowing him to deflect away from his original statement. He said David Taylor is not an elite wrestler - just focus on that!!! You can see how little credibility this guy should have.
  15. That is a good way to respond to a mountain of evidence showing why your post was insanely stupid - just completely change what you said from "Taylor is not elite" to "Taylor hasn't beaten anyone who is elite" - which I don't even need to address because, even if true, it doesn't change the level of stupidity of what you originally said. And I refuse to let you deflect away to try and save some face. You said Taylor is good, but not elite. You are a fool - and what you said is so stupid words almost can't describe it. You should be somewhat proud (along with your embarrassment)- it is no easy thing to have to dumbest post on these boards...there have been some whoopers in the past.
  16. Literally the most insanely stupid and moronic post I've seen on these boards since I've joined. Lets see why... David Taylor Accomplishments: NCAA: 101-3 Career Record , 3 Time Big 10 Champion, 3 Time NCAA Finalist, NCAA Champion, Big 10 Freshman of the Year, 2 Time Big 10 Wrestler of the Year, Hodge Trophy Winner HS: 180-2, 4 TIme Ohio State Champion, 4 TIme Beast of the East Champion, 4 Time Ironman Champion, Two Time Ohio Wrestler of the Year, 3 Time Cadet Champion, 2 TIme Junior National Champion, Dave Schultz Award Winner. Obviously the only reason Taylor has all of these accomplishments is because he never wrestled "elite" competition - if he did he surely would have lost...probably gotten pinned! Taylor is just "good", calling him "elite" is just silly. As for the topic of this thread I will not even respond - this guy literally just makes things up that never happened/were said (see the last thread he made calling out myself and FT)

    Hodge

Score one for the principles of mathematics... I think you are over-using this phrase "principles of mathematics". Now, I am not mathematician - but I think it would be fair to say that 0 = 0, and call it a "principle" - correct? And since you love to harp on your principle that "38 > 32" (or whatever their respective win totals were) ... ill just take the same approach as you and use it as proof for my claim. So there ya go - principles of mathematics it is. Undefeated is undefeated is undefeated - the fact that Ruth received more votes than Stieber for the Hodge does not validate your opinion that he was "more undefeated" than Stieber. Once again, job well done.
  18. Correct. He was above him their freshman and junior years.   Boom, roasted! Honestly tho - to say that McD have never been at the same level as JO --- huh? The kid was a 3 time finalist and 2 time champion - I think we can call that the same level as JO. He didn't finish on the same level, sure. But he wasn't there at any point in college? Wrong.
  19. Indeed, the picture tells it all. But I agree, it's hard to see what more could have been done in preparation; whatever difference exists between these two is, IMO, largely in the intangibles, no way to coach for that. The reaction is not so surprising when you think back to how much Cael has invested into DT even since he started recruiting him. No doubt in my mind, Cael must see a lot of himself in DT. I agree, I don't think there is anything more that Cael could do to prepare DT. Sometimes, you have to just "tip your cap" and realize that you aren't good enough. After 3 straight losses, I think we all have to look at it that way. Dake is simply better than Taylor. I think Dake has now proven that to all of us, even us doubters(one of which may have been Cael, until now). If you think DT or Cael or anybody in that "camp" is just "tipping their cap" and saying "oh well, I guess he is just better we can never beat him" - we just aren't good enough to beat him - you are sorely mistaken and you obviously don't posses the same mindset that they do. They can tip their cap and congratulate him, sure. But conceding that he is "simply better" and moving on thinking they aren't good enough to beat him - not so much...that is laughable. DT has World and Olympic aspirations - to achieve those he has to go through Kyle Dake (among other)...he does not believe that Dake proved that he is better - trust me.
  20. Dake also defeated Taylor easily at the trials. We saw how directly that translated to folkstyle...you know because Dake blew Taylor out in folk... I'm sure Taylor is not sweating Howe being at his weight class - especially not because he lost to him in freestyle.
  21. Been a week since Dake won NCAAs? What does that have to do with anything?
  22. It is a big jump to go from losing a close match in the training room - to taking someone's world team spot. Not only would Dake have to turn around his loss- close or not it was still a loss - but he would have to do it in actual competition (outside of the room) - and he would have to outplace him as well (which as someone pointed out - would most likely mean beating him again). At this point - I don't think anyone can legitimately see Dake taking Burrough's spot. It's a big jump to make from your story of what happened...
  23. I know...I was responding to the guy who replied to you saying "These are exactly the same thing's that were said about Taylor" - implying that everyone also though Taylor was much better than Dake in folk like the consensus is about Burroughs in freestyle right now. My point was - no that is not the case. Nobody ever saw Dake v Taylor in folk as Dake v Burroughs in free. Yeah Ok!! Please provide some quote of a legitimate # of people saying anything like what you were claiming. Ill help you out - they don't exist. People were saying that Taylor would win/was better / etc...but nobody was saying that he was that much better than Dake - the way Burroughs looks and is said to be in freestyle.
  24. 25. I know that basically all D1 programs have alternate singlets, for example a reverse-white singlet for championship rounds, etc. This got me thinking however...does one even exist for Iowa? There are 3 levels of this basically: 1- Teams that have them and wear them. (Minny for example - with their Gold singlets for finals rounds.) 2- Teams that have them but don't really wear them. (PSU and Cornell for example. I know that they both have a white-reverse singlet - but you never see any of their guys wear them. Odd huh?) 3- One team that Im questioning all together - Iowa! Iowa has arguable the most iconic singlet in college wrestling. Simple black and gold. Does an alternate even exist for Iowa??? Unlike Cornell and PSU who have them but for one reason or another never use them (outside of inter-squad duals) ...I have never even seen one for Iowa. So hawks...is it only black trimmed in gold or what?!
