  1. JMO, but it seems like a major issue right now. It's not like it's showing at the end of 3. I see some tiring in the 1st. Anyone else?
  2. My heart is thumping. Got WAY to high with that tilt.
  3. Since we are always talking about fantasy matchups, history, current wrestlers, I am curious as to where people think Troy Letters would fit in. Assuming he was at the peak of his career, where would he fare with this years 157, and this years 165?
  4. Get outta here with "blasting a 21 year old kid". What a joke. Wrestling fans need to be less sensitive. Sorry I don't like the guy you like but no need to pull that s**t. It's a college wrestling forum, you may see some criticism of some college wrestlers. Hate when people try to pull that card. 21 is not really a kid either, btw. That was my assessment of the match and of his wrestling as a whole. Watched the match. He still probably wins it all in march. Just not a fan. And that's OK. Yeah, that is BS. Blasting a 21 year old kid. No one is talking about him as a person, but as a wrestler. He's no different than any other 18, 19, 20, 21, or 22 year old athlete. They are all open to criticism when it calls. And we're free to credit or discredit whoever we please.
  5. Dude, if you think your the only Alton fan, your completely wrong. We are all fans and I absolutely love watching them wrestle. As much as any other PSU wrestler. Fact is, lungs need work or the problem needs fixed. Maybe it's a weight issue, who knows. A buddy of mine said he had to cut 10 pounds before the Nebraska match. In order to compete in March though, these issues need fixed. That's not an unfair criticism.
  6. It's not that I question what they want to do, it just stinks as a fan. The matches are already few, far, and in between, so the best we could hope for is for the matches to be maximized to their potential. Like you said, one scrub match is okay. The rest need to be fan favorites. Hey, wishful thinking right?
  7. A Alton may beat him, but beating Tessari is never "easy"! Too be quite honest, unless Andrews conditioning or lungs problem is better, I have this as a loss. See my predictions above. If Andrew is at full strength, I believe it's an easy win. Just my opinion.
  8. Right... That's why they skip National Duals to wrestle that tough road trip out in Utah! ;) Iowa for example... Cumberland, TN? Wtf? Who is this? Chattanooga SIUE? Who is this? Cornell College Iowa central CC Hofstra Bucknell Buffalo Give me a break dude
  9. Steiber would be the 'right now' Alton. I'm not convinced he beats an in shape AA.
  10. Morgan Mcintosh, Nico, Guillibon should all do this consistently. Again, whoever gets Marsteller, whether its your or us, will have the same DT potential. If you're speaking in terms of a dual with Bucknell, I agree with you all the way. NCAA tourney, not so much. I'm talking both. PSU doesn't wrestle as many bottom barrel teams as most others do. A couple, but not many.

  12. Is it very likely that PSU gets no bonus points in the early rounds from all six guys? You're sensible most of the time, Vak, but this line of argument is a stretch. You said they would have won without the bonus. I said you were wrong. How am I stretching it? You can't have it both ways. Cael will continue to produce bonus scoring studs. Maybe not 2 at a time as highly touted as Ruth and DT, but more than likely more than the field. I'd be curious to know how our bonus matches up against the field minus Ruth and Taylor throughout the season. Again just CURIOUS, not making any assumptions.
  13. You won't see me talking smack on DSJ cause I have no need to. But I wouldn't consider 6-0 killing someone. Ramos from last night or DT from last night better fits the title of 'killing' someone.
  14. I just see Morgan being ready. He has excellent skills and the weight class is really clearing out quite a bit. By no means am I underestimating DT or Ruth as I know how special they are and what they bring. It's just our pipeline is looking nice and they are all kids that have potential to rack bonus which happens to be what their coach preaches.
  15. Obviously as a Penn State fan, I want nothing more than to see Megaludis beat him. However, I must say that McDonough is the perfect athlete that I would want my kid to follow. His toughness, heart, mental toughness cannot be duplicated.
  16. Time will tell. I never said they will replace DT and Ruth. Obviously, that's a very tall order. I said that a few guys coming up should come close. The few that I mentioned, IMO, will get bonus very often. Guilibon was who he was in PA for good reason. Regardless, what he does this year, I expect him to pile up points in bunches. McIntosh was a boy wrestling at a mans weight last year and held his own for the most part. He broke down late, but I fully expect him to compete for a title as a sophomore and rack points up doing so. Nico is already piling up bonus as a true soph, and it should be his weight to lose for the next 2 years. We shall see.
  17. Morgan Mcintosh, Nico, Guillibon should all do this consistently. Again, whoever gets Marsteller, whether its your or us, will have the same DT potential. What evidence do you have to show that any of these guys will be the "bonus freaks" that Taylor or Ruth are? Taylor and Ruth are guys who get bonus points in the NCAA semifinals and finals. That's special, and McIntosh, Nico, and Gulibon just aren't that good. Not an insult to them, there aren't many wrestlers ever on that level. I said they should be able to consistently get bonus. Just my opinion. Maybe not quite as much, but relatively close.
  18. So if St. John is a CLEAR favorite, who is your definition of just a favorite? It's likely where we disagree. To me, a clear favorite is Jordan Oliver, Logan Steiber, Ed Ruth. A favorite is simply someone who is the one most likely to win out of the group. A CLEAR favorite is someone who is CONSIDERABLY more likely to win than anyone else. I gave 2 examples up above that should have helped you understand what I meant. So is St. John in the same category as Ruth, Oliver and Steiber in regards to clear favorites?
  19. Morgan Mcintosh, Nico, Guillibon should all do this consistently. Again, whoever gets Marsteller, whether its your or us, will have the same DT potential.

  21. Dylan Alton proved last night he is RIGHT there with him. I'm not sure how one can say a clear favorite after that close of a win. If D Altons stamina is just a tad better, he pulls last night out IN Carver. I do agree DSJ is the favorite, but not as clear cut as you claim. When you are 3-0 against a guy you are kinda the clear favorite. Wrestling is a sport of... The more you see someone, the better your chances. Sorry, but 1 point victories don't point to a clear favorite. Yes, a favorite, but it's nothing I would bank on. A clear favorite is someone I clearly bank on without any doubt.
  22. Absolutely agree that this year he has showed signs of being effected by the cut. I just didn't see it last night is all I am saying. I think it was a great fought match in which Nico pushed the action. Ultimately McD did what champions do and found a way to win. He is who he is for a reason.
  23. That may be but I think Evans finds a way to win this match 9 time out of 10. I love that fact that McD found a way to win the 1st match of the dual with a 1 hour weigh-in against the #2. If they meet in the finals of Big Ten's or NCAA McD is gonna have a lot more horsepower. Nothing convinced me last night McD struggled with weight. Great match by both, but not buying your 'weighing in an hour earlier' stuff.
  24. Will still be loaded. Sketch it in ink. Of course losing DT and Ruth won't be fun, but there are plenty of studs coming. Not to mention, whoever gets Marsteller is in for a treat.
