    Where have you been?

    Ok just looked him up.

Assistant coach at Cal Poly, I should have known his name since they are the powerhouse of the West!

Two time all-American, ok I’m on board with that, 4th at 133 as a senior and 7th at 125 as a freshman. What happened in between?

Wrestled for Central Michigan in the MAC. Why is a 4 time FL state championing wrestling at a program that most people forget even had wrestling? Was he recruited by big time programs? Not a lot of success out of Florida high school phenoms, even those that win a watered down (Compared to the past) senior nationals title.

No wrestler ever said I want to be the next Scotti Sentes but I guarantee a lot of them said I want to be the next Cary Kolat.

Kind of an ignorant statement there to an extent, especially considering the recent track record of light weight success at Campbell. They have done amazing at developing ok recruits. To think Sentes is not working hands on helping develop guys is dumb.

I get that it is hard to sell a non Olympic caliber athlete as a great coach, for some reason wrestling is one of the few if any sports to be this way. All of the huge name coaches in wrestling have never done it alone. John Smith, Dan Gable and Cael surrounded themselves sith amazing technician assistant coaches who were great workout partners and masked any flaws they had. They were the name the drew athletes to the program and are great CEO types.

The flip side you have coaches like J Robinson, Pat POP, Tom Ryan, Kevin Dresser and Brian Smith that were good or better college guys but did not have the mystique of Olympic Gold. So as coaches they were shortchanged to taking over mediocre programs and building them from the ground up. Even with track record of development they get few to no true blue chip talents and year in and out develop all Americans and top 10 or better teams. If these coaches got the recruits that Smith, Gable and Cael get, they would win as many titles as they did.

Most people have never heard of Sentes, I sure hadn’t. That’s a problem. In today’s athletics you need success AND name recognition.

  3. I’d look up wrestlers who moved on to become members of the military, Special Ops, SEALs, etc, and those that achieved advanced degrees (MD, JD, PhD) as those require more than intelligence, they require mental toughness and fortitude.

Guy on our team, Scott Justus, undefeated #1 seed his junior year, beat Hahn multiple times while never suffering a loss, multiple Blood Round participant, 3 time state champ, Fargo AA, earned both a BS and MS in Education in his 5 years at VT, from the mountains of Grundy, VA, joined the Navy after graduation with the goal of becoming a SEAL because he said he “had never achieved anything”. Problem was he didn’t know how to swim so couple of guys worked with him the summer before his deployment, in the New River. During BUDs he gets in some trouble and they pull him onto a boat, revive him and tell him he’s done....

Ignoring the command. he jumps back into the water and finishes the 5.5 mile swim.

    That’s mental toughess!

What are they supposed to do? Bring in a new coach that current athlete do not know or maybe tried recruiting them elsewhere and they don’t like? I know people will keep bringing up guys who were better athletes like Pritzlaff, Jaggers, etc but to me this is the correct hire or Mike Evans. For 1, the current athletes already know the coaches. They did not transfer out already so I am guessing they like the coaches they have. 2, these assistants are involved in recruiting and Campbell has a good class coming in. I would be surprised to see many if any decide to go elsewhere.

You should not see a mass exodus like you did when Dresser came into Iowa St, Bono to SDSU and Wisconsin. This should be more like when Kish took over NDSU and Eggum at Minnesota. Hopefully they can maintain and or build to be even better.

Yes they were recruited but they came to wrestle for someone of the caliber of Kolat not Sentes. Campbell just went back to the bottom.

Virginia Tech's last national championship in any sport was 2007, the sport was Bass Fishing. Make that into a t-shirt.

And it was the club team, even worse :( VT has never won a team National Championship in any sport and with Fuente still there and Buzz Williams gone, it won’t happen for a while, if ever.

I hate to sound like a jerk, but you need to get off the oxycotin. It's only masking your pain.

I've known several people who had prescriptions and are now dead.

Please consider an out patient program.

Or even something off the wall like Kambo.

I hear you for sure. I’m having back surgery next month, hopefully, to replace 3 discs. This summer and fall I’m having my knees replaced. Like I said now that I don’t have to carry my clearance I’m going to give the medical marijuana a shot.

It was an exit drug for me.  Near the end of my teaching career,  I threw away my Vike/Perc/Oxy/Flex and got my card.  Scripts were erasing my brain.  I prefer forgetting where my keys are than the senility type effects of taking that zombie ****.  After I finished my 29 year teaching and coaching career, I wanted to learn how to grow.  My last 18 years were in Colorado, so...I suspected Okla was going to go legal, and I thought it might be a neat thing to do once I retired.  I was stunned.  The PTSD patients alone awakened me to what a miracle this substance can be.  If I can be of any assistance even just anecdotal, I would be honored.  I wanted to learn to grow, but I had to take a job on a trim crew in order to get in the door.  After 3 months, I was able to work as a grower...more like a grower's apprentice for 5 months.  Anyway, we don't have the kind of money it takes to open a dispensary or a nice garden, so we are dipping our finger in at the only level we could.  I've seen a few negative effects, but many many great experiences.

My brother in law quit college 3 1/2 years in and took off to the West Coast where he and his buddies would go around and get people up and running with medical marijuana farms. When they legalized it he took those contacts and now owns 35 dispensaries.

I’d love to get off this OxyContin for my herniated discs in my back and blown knees. I take 10mg every 4 hours. If I miss a dose I’m a wreck, shaking, sweating, it’s awful.

Agree on the talent!  Pretty impressive.

I'm starting a small business with my best friend.  That reminds me that I haven't put any focus on design for our packaging.  We are a small cannabis processing company.  Our name we are applying for is Wayne's Peace.  Long story short, my friend Wayne works 7 days a week and is wasting his talent as both an electrician and superb carpenter.  My last name means Peace in Italian.  Kinda corny, but it means a lot to us.  I haven't had these feelings for a few years.  Glad to know I can still find that guy, down deep inside.

I qualified for a card in Maryland but never got it because I needed to keep my clearance. Now that I’m away from that I’m going to look back into it. I had a second interview today to oversee research studies on the benefits of marijuana, physically, mentally and economically.

  9. So since I’m switching careers and looking for a new one, which is being held up by the COVID 19 crisis, I’ve been doing commission painting miniature sci-fi and fantasy armies for local players across the Mid-Atlantic. This has been my job, 16-18 hours a day since the beginning of February.

Last week my 2 1/2 year old said he “wanted to paint like daddy”. I gave him a figure extra models I had laying around and once he “painted” them I stripped them and primed them once again. Doing this a few times became a pain so I went out and bought thin wooden people, stars, puzzle pieces, large popsicle sticks, feathers, googly eyes, pipe cleaners, set of 15 different paints and pack of cheap brushes.

He’s getting better every day and today he was focused on covering the whole object, which is great bc yesterday I kept pointing out spots he missed.

Tonight he painted the attached picture. I’m putting it on eBay, listing it for $5 million that I’m going to split between him and first responders.

    Happy Bidding!

    Haha...I miss other humans.... :(

    “TWO TAKEDOWN!!!! TIME!!!!”

  11. I’ve been home since the end of January, right when we got rid of cable. I’ve been watching Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime and HBO Go.

    Finished:

    Attack on Titan

    Sopranos

    Oz

Band of Brothers (2 1/2 times)

    The Pacific

    Saw Series

    Cube Series

    Westworld (3 seasons)

Ton of movies (check out Would You Rather on Netflix)

Most recently I’ve been spending time with my 2 1/2 year old, reading books, doing crafts, playing with kinetic sand, giving him ice cream as my wife yells at me, and working on potty training as he now yells “I’M POOPIN’” at the top of his lungs about six times a day.

  12. My opinion is double unders. They always you to attack either side where as double overs make it difficult to do much other than throw or inside trip or far side ankle pick. Unders allow you to drop your hands quickly for an ankle pick, throw by, high crotch, head throw, snap down, etc.

ive always referee to a crackdown and a finish to either a hi c or sweep. Scooting you’re lower body and circling an opponent  down to his or her hip.

Thank you to your wife! A friend posted that her sister, who works in an ER, had to order a crate of masks off of eBay and is hoping they will work bc their hospital is basically all out. :(  Then another person responded that his parents work in ERs in FL and they’re also out of masks and plastic gowns while the first suspected c19 cases in their area are starting to roll in.

Is there info about the mask pattern, what type of material, how to donate, etc.? I can look it up but was wondering if you or she had it handy so that I can share it with friends. I have a sewing machine that I can pull out of storage. It would also make for a good project while we’re sheltering in place!

EDIT: there are a lot of goofy sites and what not with mask patterns so it’s hard to tell what’s legit, but I found this article on Forbes. Please LMK if you have a better information source.

    https://www.craftpassion.com/face-mask-sewing-pattern/

she has been using this link because it had 3 different sizes. She’s using cotton or cotton/poly blend.

    good luck Pamela!

  14. Thanks all! She started the masks last week and hasn’t slept more than 3-4 hours the past few weeks but she said she’s use to it as we have a 2 1/2 year old and a 10 month old. She’s a civilian XO for the Army Public Health Center and has to do her normal duties, along with overseeing a ton of new logistics due to COVID 19. I’m handling the kids, housework, cooking and doing some consulting and commission painting as I look for a full time job.

Next few weeks could go either away across this country so, everyone, be smart and be safe.
