  1. Sorry it is NOT about PSU one bit. It was meant to SOLELY be about you. You called out Dean and I called you out on it. Also, please don't act like I am the attack PSU guy. I have said, over and over again, that PSU is, and has been, the best team for the last 4 years.
  2. I didn't ask everybody. I asked YOU.
  3. Really, that is your response? You insult a freshman who just beat Steinhaus for the 2nd time and I respond by calling you out and you imply it is about me? Where did I bring myself into it in ANY WAY? Again, did you say the same thing every time Dake beat Taylor? Look at his sig and you have your answer. Dean vs. Steinhaus was a great match. The Incredible Hulk vs. The Thing. Two very evenly matched physical specimens with excellent fundamentals. Anyone who expected Scoreapalooza does not know wrestling. I can't believe Dean is a freshman. He might be the most physically mature freshman I've ever seen. I was well aware of his sig bet and loss and simply wanted to point it out after what he said. I think SO MANY on here do a major disservice to wrestlers when they insult anyone who doesn't score big points.
  4. Really, that is your response? You insult a freshman who just beat Steinhaus for the 2nd time and I respond by calling you out and you imply it is about me? Where did I bring myself into it in ANY WAY? Again, did you say the same thing every time Dake beat Taylor?
  5. Did you say that every time Dake beat Taylor? I bet you did....... As in Football a Great defense will often beat a Great offense. Dean was never in danger of losing and Steinhaus did just hold Ruth to a regular decision. The only weakness I see from Dean is his length, or lack thereof. He was in deep on Steinhaus a few times and simply couldn't get to the other leg.
  6. Brown's only a junior. Perry and Howe are done after this year. Even so, he will still have Kokesh, Storley and Evans to contend with.
  7. The following is about the best I could see Iowa doing at the NCAA tournament: 125 Clark 4th---14 team points. 133 Ramos 1st--25 team points. 141 Dziewa r12--3 team points. 149 Grothus r12-3 team points. 157 S. John 1st--22 team points. 165 Moore 4th---13 team points. 174 Evans 5th---13 team points. In my heart I want to put him higher but I cant see him beating more than 1 of the other 5 guys( Howe, Perry, Brown,Kokesh and Storley). 184 Lofthouse 4th--13 team points. 197 Burak r12-----3 team points. 285 Telford 3rd---14 team points. Iowa 123 team points. PSU without any overachieving would be as follows: 125 Megaludis 3rd--- 17 points 133 Gulibon r16-------1.5 points 141 Retherford 3rd---17 points 149 Beitz 1-2-----------1 point 157 Alton 6th---------10 points 165 Taylor 1st--------27 points 174 Ruth 1st----------26 points 184 Brown 3rd--------15.5 points 197 McIntosh 5th-----13 points 285 Lawson R12-------3 points That is still 131. PSU would really need to have someone underperform while Iowa has about the best tournament they could have. PSU is too strong as a tournament team..........
  8. I believe Howe wrestled 174 as Ottinger is right around the 10th best guy at the weight and Howe hadn't wrestled him before. Smart move to get a feel for him prior to NCAA's. Now as far as the Cornell dual goes, Howe at 184 is the best chance for Oklahoma. Shanaman isn't exactly a powerhouse and Oklahoma has a better chance to hold this match to a decision with Geiges at 174. Dean rips both arms off and maybe a head before pinning whatever back up Oklahoma throws out there. Howe could win 174 convincingly but I don't think we would offset the points Dean would score. In the end it comes down to whether Cody really wants to win or if he protects Howe against possible injury up against a big 184lbr like Dean. No matter how good you are giving up 10lbs against a top flight DI guy is a recipe for disaster.
  9. Lol, was that an intentional spelling slip? Either way it is funny. If not, you lose credibility by slamming everyone for doubting Cael but then misspelling his name. If so, you get a great trolling award for building up the argument but then ripping the rug out from underneath it by the aptly placed misspelled name.......
  10. Rutt had the only takedown of the match and decided to do his best Dylan Ness imitation. The problem is he is NOT a 197lb version of Dylan Ness. Perry shot in and Rutt tried to do the patented "Elevator". He went to his back, lifted Perry about half way up, never left his own back, got caught up in a cradle and quickly pinned thereafter. What made a guy who is patently solid and vanilla defensively try something like that when the dual was already decided was BEYOND ME.........................
  11. You missed him pinning Ness in the same fashion. I didn't miss that. I was well aware of it. You were INCORRECT on who and HOW Miller lost 2 of his last 3 matches. I simply pointed that out. It is always funny how people react when someone points out their mistake. Instead of admitting it you deflect it into somehow being an error of mine........ Let me add that I think Miller, if 100% healthy, has a very solid chance to AA. I simply do NOT understand how someone can lose 2 of their last 3 matches, one of which was by pin to an unranked wrestler, and move up to 4th overall. He may very well be the 4th best guy. He simply doesn't currently deserve the ranking......
  12. The WORST part of all this is the negative publicity College Wrestling, and more importantly, Wrestling as a WHOLE is getting as a result. If you get a chance take a look at the comments posted underneath any of the major articles(ESPN, etc.). So many complain about his IGNORANCE, and by definition it is exactly ignorance, and then do the same thing with the worn out comment, "He must be gay himself if he wears spandex and intimately touches other men!" Ignorance can be minimized but it is unavoidable. Natural instinct makes all living creatures respond in odd ways to things they don't know or understand. We can do our best to educate people about as much as we can but social environments such as religion, rural living, etc. make it hard to educate everyone equally. What Sam said was IGNORANT but NOT surprising. Homosexuality is a topic that IS and will ALWAYS be hard for everyone to understand. Lack of understanding garners lack of respect. In a way this is a good thing for Sam. He will be educated and hopefully become a better person from his transgression. If he hadn't done this he may have continued to feel what he thought on the matter, and even what he could say, were "No big deal!" In the end, the real loser in this is Wrestling............
  13. You missed his getting pinned in a minute by Sal Mastriani.....
  14. Those notable threads were started by nom, ocho, Lord Nelson, Ching, gutfirst, Mr. Burns, tommygun, and you. Those are not Penn State fans. You can have what Penn State has when MSU earns it. Probably have to fire that troublemaker Minkel, though. :D Now that is a funny response. Unless you actually are Cody what have you PERSONALLY done to earn Penn State's current success? I have beaten my head against a brick wall trying to find a way to get through to the MSU administration. I believe I have had 2 email accounts blocked by every one I sent messages to. I truly never sent an email with any vitriol either. Every email I sent said who I was, who I had spoken with regarding the decline in MSU's performance and asked who I could talk to or what I could do to help. They don't care. Between MSU and the Lions I am destined to be a disgruntled fan for a VERY, VERY, VERY LOOOOONG time.................
  15. As far as a true darkhorse is concerned I would say Old Dominion, Ohio and North Dakota State have the best chance to reach top15 or so. I would really like to see Kish get a high finish to hopefully further boost his program. Boston and Bloomsburg have an outside chance but their hopes would really come down to one guy making a very deep run. I don't know if you would consider NC, NCSTATE or Pitt as darkhorses but they have a solid shot. Purdue and Indiana are both B1G teams so they probably don't really fit into darkhorse status, but I think they can have a solid NCAA finish relative to their recent finishes.
  16. Two days in a row where a poster actually made me laugh out loud. Well done, sir. Well done!
  17. I am sorry but there are 100 or so posts on the front page of this board that say otherwise. Simply put I am jealous of what you have. You are lucky to have such a successful program. I get irritated when I watch a group complain nonstop when the first significant blemish in FOUR YEARS happens.................
  18. Yes it did. And now there is LITERALLY nothing new to say. Atleast nothing positive that I can think of. Beating Indiana 18-16 doesn't really warrant any comments from me that haven't already been made on here......
  19. This is a TROLL post, MSU. You complain about Penn State in your other little thread and then post this garbage? TROLL. That is what this post is. No argument from me WHATSOEVER. The complaining and entitlement since the Minnesota dual sickens me. It was a MISTAKE. NOONE has denied that. But, most of you are acting like PSU was Churellad! It was 1 point in 1 match out of 10. It did NOT make him lose. It MAY HAVE kept him from winning. He still had his destiny in his hands. PSU is THE BEST TOURNAMENT TEAM in the Nation. They may even be the best Dual Team as well. I just find it hard to listen to people act like they had their livelihood stolen from them. You will most likely win your 4th NCAA Championship in a row. Be the BIGGER AND BETTER Men, turn the other cheek, take the loss like MEN and MOVE ON! That would garner my unadulterated respect. The constant whining does NOT! I would be TICKLED PINK to have had MSU even BE IN the situation to lose a dual to Minnesota that way............
  20. I would love to talk MSU. However, it doesn't garner much interest and it inevitably ends up looking like I am bashing Minkel. I want to be positive and cheer for my Alma Mater. However, I cannot, in good faith, support the current regime. The focusing on the "top 5ish only" happens in nearly every sport as well. It is easier to talk about the successful programs and focus on what individuals and what teams have the best chance at making an impact. You can toss a darkhorse in here or there but they are truly only a darkhorse if they are not in the limelight like a contender. This is a forum for College Wrestling. Feel free to post ANY College Wrestling topic. However, you should expect the fans of the best teams to be the predominant part of the forum. Every sports has it's Loyalists but the Bandwagon Fans are the ones that put the teams at the visible forefront.
  21. We all know PSU deserved to win. Just ask their fans. They are the best team. Minnesota got lucky and needed the home advantage, corrupt referees and a fluke pin to win. We should just stop wrestling duals altogether and just wrestle tournaments. Everyone knows tournaments are the best way to determine the best team. Duals don't measure such things and only hurt the little guys. PSU is the best team and they DESERVED TO WIN!!!!!
  22. For the most part I think they do ok. I have 2 areas of contention. Ian Miller moving up to 4th makes no sense. He lost 2 of his last 3 matches and has not wrestled since his last match which was an injury default. Storley beats Brown handily and gets NO LOVE. Kokesh moves to 3rd having not wrestled either Brown or Storley. The dreaded and feared Evans ankle ride win is costing Storley big time.........
  23. Miller and Durso? Both very solid wrestlers but would have to go through a gauntlet of AA's and a couple National Champions. If you were in Vegas a 10 spot on each would result in a seriously lucrative investment if they came through.
  24. I guess what you are saying is, wrestlers should not only train to be able to beat the opposition but they also need to go above and beyond that and be able to make up the difference that bad officiating may cause. My point is refs make mistakes in EVERY sport. Often, the mistakes are CONSIDERABLY more egregious and 100% determine the outcome. Was it right? Absolutely not. However, he had over 2 minutes of match time to STILL win the match. If it had happened at the buzzer AND gave Dardanes the win I could better understand the uproar. You see wrestler's backpedaling with a 1 pt lead from an early 1st period takedown ALL THE TIME. How you wrestle at this point can either take the ref out of the match or INEVITABLY influence the ref into looking to call stalling. Everyone knows stalling calls are likely. The crowd is yelling for it. The coaches of the losing wrestler are yelling for it. Beitz had a chance to control his own destiny. That is a lot more than a ton of victims of bad calls can say.................... I would also like to add that refs are HUMAN. They get influenced by crowds and ebbs and flows of matches. This is unavoidable. They are not robots. We ALL know this. The ref can get caught up in the moment. As I said in the above YOU as the wrestler have to do your best to not let that happen. You can avoid getting taken down by circling instead of backing up. Stay close to the center and you still don't have to aggressively engage your opponent. Nothing good happens when you have the lead and are wrestling at the edge of the circle.
  25. Now this made me truly laugh out loud. You have a very large range in your trolling ability. You can go from subtle to blatant. Not necessarily a great gift to have, but it can truly be entertaining. Not trolling. That guy was a rules nerd. You even deny trolling in a troll-like matter. I LIKE it!
