MSU158 got a reaction from Mr. Poopy butthole in RBY should have been DQ'd
Ben is usually pretty good in his descriptions.  However, in this case he VERY lazily goes through what he THINKS happened, even admitting he didn't really know what happened the 1st time.  Simply put, his description is NOT what happened.
In his description he grabs the foot near the heel and simply pulls the foot out WITHOUT turning it.  As such, if THAT was what was done, he would be correct.  However, RBY grabs the foot closer to the toes and turns the foot outward to the point that the arch is almost flat on the ground from heel to toe.  After that, he transitions even further to the toe and yanks again.
So, the turning of the foot DOES lock out the knee and the 2nd yank pops it.  Now, again, I am not sure that even this process is illegal or falls into the "twisting knee lock" as indicated in the rulebook.  But, it definitely has enough to make it suspect.
With that said, I DO NOT think, nor have I ever mentioned, that RBY should have been DQ'd.  My whole area of contention has solely been that the move ABSOLUTELY, UNEQUIVOCALLY caused significant trauma to DeSanto's knee PRIOR to the cradle, causing DeSanto to stop wrestling and cry out DUE TO the injury.  After that, the INJURY seriously effected his wrestling and gauging the results off that is FOLLY.
Dismissing the injury as being mental due to his getting "dominated" is laughable considering the injury happened prior to ANY domination WHATSOEVER..........

IF he didn't turn the toe out, I would 100% agree with you.  However, once the foot is turned out, it DOES lock out the knee, therefor making the 2nd "yanking" of the foot dangerous.  Now, maybe that danger would only warrant a PD vs. reaching the "twisting knee lock" phase, but it is, AT THE VERY LEAST, the equivalent of running an arm bar past parallel, which is almost always stopped for PD............Again, turn your foot outward like the 1st part RBY does to DeSanto, then after sitting static for a brief moment, yank it further outward.  The pressure is BEYOND what would be considered "normal" for ANY level of wrestling!

MSU158 got a reaction from Cruiser94 in Does RBY's "win" over Desanto count for B10 seeding?
If you step on the mat and the starting whistle blows, the match counts.  PERIOD.  Whether 1 second goes off the clock or all 7 minutes.  There is a loser and a winner.  The REAL issue is how the rankers and inevitably the seeding committee will weigh that loss/win.
For instance, Nolf was winning his match before the injury default.  He had also owned his opponent, other than that result.  As such, it is much more likely that result will get much less value than a "normal" loss, simply due to common sense.
Now, in this instance, RBY was winning prior to the injury default and there are no other head to head results for this season.  As such, there is NO WAY that RBY would not be put ahead of DeSanto, barring a crazy run of bad losses by RBY(which I don't see happening).

I usually like what you post and you usually have a knowledeable take.  However, this is BY FAR the most uneducated, backwards comment you have ever made. If you know wrestling, which I know you do, take your "slant" out of it and closely watch the video Headshuck posted.  The 2nd jerk of foot locked up the knee and DeSanto completely stopped wrestling and cried out in pain.  That was BEFORE the cradle was locked up and the score was 0-0.
You don't FAKE being hurt BEFORE something bad even happens..............

Desanto wasn't injured.  RBY can't melt steel knees.  He gave up the default to inspire the rest of his team, especially Kemmerer, to have a big comeback.

    The irony is awesome here.
You declare you hate crybabies while whining about how you were cheated in a 6th grade wrestling match.  I'm not trying to be a jerk but this was just too much.

If you want to use an injury to prove yourself, that is up to you. I can promise you I wouldn’t be touting myself as a genius if the guy I picked had never beat the other guy and then won by injury default.  Especially when the move is borderline illegal.
    But, feel free....

I'm not an Iowa fan and have no bias for them (serious or other).
I thought Warner should have got a courtesy warning with about 15 seconds left.  I thought PSU's 149 got hit an extra time in the 3rd period on bottom in a match that was already over.
Aside from that I think guys got hit when they backed up, didn't attack, went straight off the mat, or dropped to an ankle.  I think Iowa guys are clearly coached to not do those things.  PSU guys are coached on wrestling moves and they have great gameplans and tactics, but when the PSU guys don't use those moves they stall.  They aren't coached in the same ways to make it look good.  Iowa guys are very good at not doing stalling things even when they aren't using wrestling moves.
From a super simple perspective, one team sat with their butts in the middle of the center circle and the other team got hit for stalling more.  That's what should happen.  And it didn't happen more often then it should.  In 10 mostly close matches the officials didn't impact or even influence the outcome of a single match.  That's rare in our sport.  And yet I think 10% of the posts I read while watching the dual were complaints about officials in Carver.  It might be generally true but it wasn't close to true tonight.

You can watch the match on YouTube, RBY definitely torqued the knee to initiate the first turn. After hurting his knee, you shouldnt be suprised RBY was able to lock up more cradles.

    Re-read my post.
I didn't say Desanto was legitimately injured. I didn't say he wasn't. I have zero interest in arguing that point. You can knock yourself out with that one.
My post was clear. When one guy is hurt and defaults out, it does NOT give us a clear indication of how the match would have played out.
    You get that, right?

The key is whether or not to simply ignore his loss by fall as a “one off”. Which, I expect rankers  would and should.
So, I would think it goes like this:
    1.  Boo is undefeated with a win over Lee.
    2.  Sasso moves up after beating Lugo and avenging his “real” loss to Lee
    3. Lugo.  His only loss was about as close as it can get to Sasso and he has a controlling win over O’Connor.
    4.  O’Connor. His only loss is to Lugo.
    5. Lee. Has 3 losses, 2 to guys above and a DQ that can get treated like Sasso’s other Loss.

    After that, good luck.

Edited to add:  I know Mauller only has 1 loss, but it is NOT a “good” loss and his ONLY win of note is Thomsen.  As such, he probably stays top 5, but I personally wouldn’t have him there.
