Bucksfan got a reaction from dtl38 in The Tap Out
Yep. If it's not illegal, yet it is hurting them to the point they need to stop, then it is an act of SUBMISSION, therefore they forfeit the position or points to the wrestler with the hold. If it happens at a time where the offensive wrestler is just about to score a TD or put them to their back, the points should be awarded as such after the match has been stopped.

Myers was clearly on his way to his back vs Snyder. I believe the ref saw the tap out and ignored it due to nothing illegal happening. This was the correct no call IMO. If the hold is too tight to where it is hurting you, then you either submit and allow the offensive wrestler to imposed his will or you fight it and pass out. You shouldn't be able to just tap out and have he match stopped with absolutely zero repercussions.

IMO he SHOULD make the podium. Will he? As you all have witnessed, the NCAAs can be brutal and has knocked out many expected AA's...happens every year. But just because he wrestled NaTo tough doesn't equate to an AA finish. They are very familiar with each other as they have wrestled a bunch of times. The weight is very deep as well.

If I had to predict I would say 6th-8th......133 is deeeep

Well, if everyone is in agreement why even have the dual? Just chalk it up and we can look forward to a dual that MATTERS, like the National Duals.....oh wait

Martin is a bad matchup for Miklus IMO. Myles seems to struggle moreso vs big, strong opponents. His athletic prowess and agility would give Miklus fits IMO. Unless there are bonus points at this weight I would have it for tOSU anyhow.

It has to be right up there. They need to add one more hammer like Mizzou and it would def be the best tourny out there.

Bucksfan reacted to unbiased in 3 Point Takedown: It is time.
You only need one takedown to win a match. Take a guy down and let him up, you still win whether its worth 2 or 3. That will not improve wrestling. The push out doesn't encourage what wrestling is or what its meant to be, unless you favor sumo. The object of wrestling is to grab your opponent and take him to the mat to pin him. The push out is the exact opposite of that. Why should we reward a wrestler for throwing his opponent out of the area that we want both of them to stay in and actually wrestle. If a wrestler is going out on his own free will or is shot out by an opponent then its called stalling. Implement the rules already in place and wrestling will be more exciting.

I don't think IMar smokes AV.  I think it will be a very competitive match.  I think AV has a shot at winning the TD war and if he does he can pull the upset.  I will be very surprised if it's a blowout.

Zahid is a title contender.  If Zeke can come up with 4 other guys who can make the podium (best bets - Nasser, Hall, Pagdillio,Sheilds) ASU could be a top 3 team in St Louis.

Nobody gonna touch Zain, he is a man wrestling boys from this point on. He will make it look easy he is that good.

I could see Sorenson dropping a match to Micky Jordan. Complete Homer pick but I don't think it's beyond possibility. Sorenson is very, very solid but does nothing particularly great IMO.

5 takedowns to none is a beating.

When you are very talented and outweigh your opponent by 30-40 pounds, you SHOULD be able to at least keep the match close. That being said, only one guy was able to do that last year and that was Gwiz. Snyder completely controlled the field and will do so this year.

Sorenson will never come close to beating Zain. Ever. Zain will steamroll to the Hodge this year.

Bucksfan reacted to LongShot in prime B. Saitiev vs. prime Burroughs: who wins?
I guess you could say there are a lot of similarities between Monday and Burroughs as well.  Saitiev handled Monday but that wasn't Monday at his best.  Also, Monday played around with Saitiev's upper body skills which was a big mistake and one Burroughs wouldn't make.  JB would have the same present day ability to scout and prepare as well.  This one would be tight.

Everyone's logic suggests HWY's such as Coon etc are/will be the only wrestlers adjusting, and arguably one of the best wrestlers in the world won't be doing the same?

For those who watched the Coon/Snyder match... It wasn't close. Snyder was in on Coon's leg at will. I put my $ on Snyder adjusting his angles, leverage, and pace to wrestle a more informed, intelligent match now with his experience wrestling a talent like Coon more so Coon making adjustments and keeping Snyder from getting to his legs.

The bad news for heavies next season is Snyder will be the one adjusting now knowing what he needs to do and what he's up against, not so much the opposite relative to any pertinent improvement or result effectiveness.

    Just my opinion of course.

On a completely different subject... Anyone else pumped to see what happens at the upcoming World Trials? How awesome would it be if both Gwiz and Snyder ended up being World Team members/teammates. Wonder if Snyder gets s rematch with Kyven Gadson at some point, or even J'Den Cox, both who are also registered at 97kg. Tervel Diagnov is gonna be a tall order for Gwiz this early in his freestyle career, but stranger things have happened. I just don't see anyone beating Snyder two times in a row.

I totally understand what you are saying.  But lets evaluate the actual weight classes that Nolf and MyMar competed in at the tournament.

By my count (correct me if I am wrong), 157 had 4 returning AA's, including a champ:

    Imar
    Ian Miller
    Nick Brascetta
    Brian Murphy

Now, I got 174 with 5 returning AA's (again, correct me if I am wrong), including a former finalist:

    Realbuto
    Ethan Ramos
    Zach Epperly
    Bryce Hammond
    Cody Walters

157 also had Nolf and 174 had Nickal - they are a wash.  Both had equally dominant seasons and Nickal is a former world medalist.  However for the sake of this conversation, Nolf doesn't have to wrestle himself yet MyMar still had to go through Nickal.

Funny thing is that between Nolf and MyMar, they only wrestled 1 returning AA on the way to the finals.  That would be when Martin beat Hammond.

While I do believe that 157 was a bit more top heavy (largely due to having returning champ IMar and Miller), 174 actually was a deeper weight class in my opinion.  And while you were quick to point out, and rightfully so, about the guys that exited 174 to clear a way for Martin, the 157 weight class also benefited from that by having Ness and Green graduate, Realbuto move up, and 2xAA Minotti out with injury.

Agree. He was like 7 seconds from winning that match vs Meredith. I know it was high school but Micky beat Heil multiple times then and that is something that cannot be discounted in the mental aspect. His best shot was 141, no doubt.

They are the same as they've always been, but PSU and tOSU are better than ever.  OSU is OSU.  Teams like Cornell, VTech, and NCST have no fear of the bluebloods.  This knocks Iowa down a notch and makes their good years 2nd and 3rd place finishes instead of titles and their bad years off of the podium.  Like somebody said, parity is awesome and the days of anyone just deserving titles are gone.
