My Russian isn't great so pardon any errors

This appears to be a video of a "Olympic Regional Training Center" in Kislovad, Dagestan

Guseinov is still the head coach of Dagestan despite not being the head coach of Russia.

You can see Sadulaev, Kudiyamagomedov, Kurugliev, Otarsultanov and other stars as well as Dagestani UFC fighter Rutsam Khabilov

I recognize some Kabardians (Makhov, Kushkhov, Geduev, Urishev, Musukaev). I wonder if any Chechens or Ingush are there. I don't see any Ossetians and they probably have their own camp.

It's a pretty long video but gives some insight into their preparation and methods.

I think Adam Saitiev in his prime is a harder matchup for Burroughs, he was stronger and more squat than his brother and didn't show the same vulnerability to blast doubles. He had an amazing knee in armpit go behind. I will still probably pick JB.

I am a Russian wrestling mark and fan and prefer their style to the American style, but JB would beat Saitiev. The rules are different and better now and wrestlers get better and more athletic.

Adam was probably better but had a shorter career due to injuries and he was less focused on wrestling and more focused on religion. Wrestling up 20+ lbs doesn't help.

manyak reacted to GoNotQuietly in Qualifying Tournaments FAQ: Please read before posting about qualiers
There are about a billion threads/posts asking basically the same questions so let's clear a few things up.  Alternatively, everything you want to know about the Olympic procedures is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wrestling_at_the_2016_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Qualification

Q: Can we send more than one wrestler at each weight?
A: No, each country can send only one representative to try to qualify their nation

Q: Can we send a different representative than the OTT Champion
A: No, USAW guidelines dictate that the OTT Champion will be the representative, barring injury

Q: If the OTT Champ is injured, and the alternative wrestler qualifies the weight, who goes?
A: The OTT Champ will be the Olympic representative unless they are unable to compete at the games due to injury

Q: When/Where are the qualifying tournaments?
A: 1st World Qualification Tournament is April 22-24 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
2nd World Qualification Tournament is May 6-8 in Istanbul Turkey

Q: Which Weights does the USA still have to qualify?
    A: Men's Freestyle: 65kgs, 86kgs
    Women's Freestyle: 48kgs, 53kgs, 58kgs, 69kgs
    Men's Greco:  59kgs, 66kgs, 98kgs

Q: What do our wrestlers have to place in order to qualify the weight?
A:  Men's Freestyle and Greco: Mongolia: Top 3 Istanbul: Top 2
Women's Freestyle: Mongolia: Top 2 Istanbul: Top 2

Q: Who will they have to wrestle at these tournaments?
A: Countries who have already qualified can NOT send a representative to these tournaments.  The European regional tournament is this weekend, so we will know more after that, but you can see the list of current qualifiers here:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wrestling_at_the_2016_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Qualification#Men.27s_freestyle_events

Q: Can we get all of these weights qualified?
A: It is going to be extremely tough with the reduction in weight classes squeezing the world's best into very limited spots, but our athletes are tough as nails and we put together a phenomenal team at the Trials this weekend.  Best of luck, and safe travels Team USA!

Please post any other questions here, and someone much more knowledgeable than me will most likely answer them.

manyak reacted to newyorkwrestler in John Smith said we need to change folk rules
Folkstyle is horrendously boring now. Tons of stalling, no action, no throws. outsiders who watch tend to enjoy the freestyle matches more and they loathe watching may wrestling. Yes at first we would lose an audience with people like the above posters who are misguided but in the long run we would gain a larger audience. Freestyle is the far more enjoyable and marketable product. We should over time incorporate it into folkstyle. A gradual switch is the best way to go over a ten year period. I think this way people could adjust and would come to terms with it, and eventually come to prefer it. Nobody likes change at first and I remember when I first started watching and doing freestyle I thought it was weird but after some time I realized it was truly superior in almost every aspect.

I thought he would win trials. He is a better technician than Ramos and wrestled way better than him at Yarygin. He has looked really good. I'm not sure when I was aware of his comeback but he has been doing well from the beginning and impressed me with his ability and technique. To be fair, I am not a Ramos fan and I am a Dennis fan and I like his story and attitude a lot more than Ramos'.

As counterintuitive as it seems, it's smart of Dake to keep the pressure on Cox. Cox switches up his lead leg but falls back to right lead leg when Dake tries to muscle him on the ties.  Which is what Dake likes

something interesting to note about Varner, he has switched from almost entirely a right leg lead in college to gradually more and more leading left to almost exclusively leading left now

Cael Sanderson did the same thing, he was a right leg lead in college and switched entirely to left by 2011

Both of them do right handed collar tie left hand ankle picks, which may be the reason for the transition, it's way easier to do with a left leg lead
