Their AD is a major source of their problems from what I've heard.

What would it take to get the SEC into wrestling?

The SEC already has a top 5 wrestling program in Mizzou but they compete in the MAC due to the SEC not having it currently. I remember reading an archived article about how LSU was going to compete for a team title 30-40 years ago. So they used to be able to recruit top notch talent. I agree that any current SEC school could easily add it if the only worry is money because football more than pays for the athletic department. If the football coaches could only see how much wrestling could benefit their own program by having it, but there's too many of the old guard still in place. One proposal to get rid of Title IX as a hindrance is to add a corresponding women's program to the list of sports made available.
  4. How about this guy I know of...he's older but very experienced. His name is Dan Gable and he's from Iowa. Name a better candidate. He's got the competitor and coaching credentials. At least let him coach the Olympic Team as the interim. Then find someone who's willing and able to stay on for the 2017-2020 cycle.

    JDen Cox

This is for the challenger bracket. The winner gets Herbert, who's the returning World Team Member at 86KG. Unless I'm missing something.

Terry Brands Opens Up About "TERRY"

First off, good movie/story. 2nd, no offense to Flo, but they should somehow negotiate with ESPN, FOX or one of the mainstream sports channels to air it. This story, along with many other great wrestling stories should be showcased to a wider audience. There's not a sports fan I know that doesn't love a good story about good people and wrestling is full of them. Just like we coach, capitalize on every opportunity to score points. We shouldn't miss on a quality opportunity to grow the sport.

    Kyle Snyder pulls his redshirt

I agree with you on this. I also would like to add that Gwiz probably has about 30+ pounds of muscle on Snyder at this point and most likely will maintain that weight difference, since Snyder will have to make 97 KG, just a few weeks after the NCAAs for the OTT. I'm not saying that is the only reason to favor Gwiz over Snyder. Gwiz's past couple of seasons in Folkstyle should speak for themselves. You also have to remember the rest of the heavies will have that much mass on Snyder and probably more in some instances that will play a role. Depending on how the bracket falls, these two could see each other in the quarters or semi's. Regardless of when the match-up takes place, it should be fun to watch. Can Snyder overcome the size difference? Sure, but his ultimate prize is next Summer in Rio, not in NYC in March.

    Thoughts on Taylor at 86kg

The good news is that he has the time to get things squared away before the US Open, barring any setbacks. The gas tank issue is an easy fix for someone of his caliber.

    Dake to 86kg for good

Wouldn't another rationale behind this move is to make the lineup for Team USA stronger at Rio? Dake, Taylor, or Ruth at 86 KG seem to be a step in the right direction especially when we have Burroughs below them. In my opinion two medals for our team is better than 1. Of course, like someone said previously, we have to qualify the weight first otherwise this is just smoke.

    College Wrestling Map

Are these just men's programs or women's too? Obviously I know that some of the NAIA schools have both such as MO Valley, but was just curious.

  12. Taylor vs. Ruth sounds like an intriguing match-up. As a fan, this would be a match I would love to see at some point soon. I'm sure it happened in the practice room setting at PSU but it's a totally different mindset between with someone being your practice partner vs. them standing between you and making it to the OTT and/or medaling at an international tournament.

Pico -- what a great kid!

This is a testimony to not just him or his coaches, but his parents. Good job on your son guys! The world could use a few more Picos and a lot less Cyruses.
