  1. I predict Pico will take home the Gold!
  2. No disrespect to Metcalf. I have watched him against international competition. I honestly don't think he is athetic enough to reach the pinnacle of wrestling's elite. He does not have the speed and explosive power of some of his top counterparts. I think he should go into coaching and not waste more of his time dreaming.
  3. Glad you went there! Yes, he would have qualified. He beat Molinaro in match 2 of Olympic Trials. Ref cost him the takedown when he was walking back to center and did not award him 2 backs, as well. He got screwed, but handled it like a class act. Too bad though. Would have loved the to have seen Pico with our other youngsters like Cox and Snyder. They all could do something in these summer games. Would have liked to have seen this young group go through this together through the next several Olympics. Seems like a waste to have had a much older Molinaro show no offense and peter out. The experience alone for Pico would have helped our US Olympic team for the future. Pico would have represented and perhaps placed at the Olympics. Coach Valentin had him peaking mentally and physically. Sincerely, Still in mourning
  4. Pico was the best wrestler in the weight class in spite of the referees miscues in match 2. He was the agressor in all the matches - controlled the ties, the mat and the action. The ref did not issue the 2 pts Pico earned for back exposure, as well as, the quick whistle to give up another 2 pts to Molinaro as he was walking back to the middle was inexcusable in a match of such magnitude to determine the US Olympian. He secured his spot on the Olympic team with his second match. Pico should be representing the US in the Olympics.
  5. Pico should be representing the US in the Olympics. In my eyes, he secured his Olympic spot after his 2nd match. He was the better wrestler. The refs failure to him the 2 back exposures he earned, as well as, the quick whistle to give up another 2 pts to Molinaro as he was walking back to the middle was inexcusable in a match of such magnitude to determine the US Olympian. Though young, he has been brought along to peak for the Olympics with the outstanding coaching and training regimen of his coach Valentin Kalika. I believe in Pico! If the US is to be a wrestling power, they need to invest long term in their world class young phenoms like Pico, Snyder and others. I hope we see him wrestle in the summer games and many more after that.
