    Hey, Nick,

I'm sure you're reading these boards to keep up on your progress.

Since you're weighing your options, Elmhurst College in near west suburban Chicago is one hell of a choice to consider. Not only are minutes away from the third largest city in the country (currently), but we have a really nice wrestling program, too. Our head coach is Steve Marianetti, former NCAA champ and Freestyle World Team member. Maybe a big school environment isn't what you thought it might be. We can help you with that. We can't offer you scholarship money, but our transfer options are very, very good. Call me!

Remind me not to ever sit as a passenger in your car. According to Google Maps, even driving from Spring City, Missouri to Wray, Colorado isn't quite nine hours.

LOL.  "Cael probably wouldn't, so I won't address you totally valid point."  Cael CAN do that, as can any coach or administration.  It's well known that coaches can pull scholarships at any point, and obviously pull them from the line up.  He can control who can step on the mat for him, but they shouldn't be able to control where they go to step on the mat.  Seems right and fair, nothing to see here!

BTW, cabron, please notice below how to work the multiquote function.

The argument isn't about what the rule is or is not.  It's about whether Cael, (or any coach in this country, be it Tom Brands, Tom Ryan, John Smith, Troy Nickerson, Matt Azevedo, Keith Gavin, Kevin Dresser, who-freaking-ever) should have that authority over a kid's freaking life.

The basic point you pro "Withhold the Release!" folk are arguing are saying that a coach and a university should get all the benefit and power over a kid who they already hold a bunch of power over.  The kid can do literally nothing to a university or a coach other than stop competing.

Coaches can pull you from the line up, dictate what weight you wrestle at, pull your scholarship, reduce your scholarship, suspend you, and, guess what, recruit over you, BUT THAT'S NOT ENOUGH!  They should also get to stop you from competing for a year if you don't stay at their institution even if you don't feel that being at that institution is what's best for you.  All based on a decision they make as an 18 or 19 year old when the most famous wrestling-related folks in the country, the actual fully-formed adults in the transaction, are coming to their houses and blowing smoke up their asses.  And the competitor, the one who's actually providing the product that we enjoy, the one who, without them, the product would be nonexistent, should just grin and bear it.  Tough ****, kid.

You can feel that way all you want, but I think it's ridiculous.

Also maybe he saw that Notre Dame was the best place for him to get an education and do well in life rather than do nothing but wrestle and have no where to go after college...

I would think Phillipi at 141. They also have Fenstermacher and Eli Seipel in the mix around that weight. Problem is we only really have one 125 pounder - not sure if Jake Cherry is a college level guy, but we will see I guess.

Maybe Suriano is coming to Pitt to wrestle 125

According to the document you just posted half of the schools in Colorado that offer wrestling have an enrollment of 835 students or more. Thats an average of about 208 students per grade. 108 students per grade absolutely would be considered small where youre from and falls into the smallest of 4 classifications.

Borschel was really solid that year.  That Championship match was a lot like Nickal vs. Dean, except Borschel pretty much dominated Lewnes.  Lewnes was undefeated and went to entire season without giving up a single takedown.  The crazier match was Borscel over Henrich in the semis.  He fell down big early and stormed back to win 10-9.  Overall, the main reason I would pick JayBo over Hall is his mat wrestling.  Hall as a TF against a RS Senior who was a hammer on the mat.  That is an advantage too large to ignore.
